today I lost a corner on the GS,
The corner was a bit aggressive for my GS to take,as I was riding angrily after having a bad morning at my business.
The left indicator bulb went kaput, fairing scratched.
Myself knocked in the knee
Well a fit of anger went down in crash, revved hard the bike for almost the whole time during the journey home before and after crash............was feeling heavy so shared .......

Most of my crashes are due to bending too much too..

I couldnt have been more wrong. Just went for a ride now almost 5 hrs after SC adjustments and last use......the problems have been compounded. First time in its life, I had to use choke to start the bike, otherwise it just wouldnt start. The jerking issue is still there, same as before. No idea about mileage yet. What to do other than shouting at SC people?Guys, just came back from SC. The 'out of petrol' like jerking problems and mileage problems I had been facing may have been due to shitload of dust that was deposited in the carburettor bottom
oh man, be careful when youre angry. God knows how many near accidents Ive had on pissed off driving. We are liable to get angrier after the crash and have an encore at the next corner.today I lost a corner on the GS,

@ mach
Be careful yaar
Dont drive if your mood is not good,
@ maestro,
The following are the mileage questions from my side.
1 did you made sure of the false reserve.
2 did you made any changes before this issue starts.
3 open the seat and check if their is any thing disturbing the air filter breather pipe.
4 when you changed the engine oil last and how is the oil colour and level now.
5 check if any petrol leak from the main / reserve knob. Because our Gs petrol knob might become loose some times which may cause leake.
6 it is true that in many petrol bunks the meter reading will show 1 ltr but the actual quantity is lesser. Once I was been a victim in shell bunk @ bangalore mahadevpura.
@ ram
Still I believe its some thing that deals with either clutch or carb tuning, an experienced local mechanic can able to detect and tell you whats wrong with in minutes so please do consult them also.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

1. Ask the mechanic to check the air vent of the fuel tank and clean it as it may be clogged due dust etc.
2. Disconnect the fuel pipe from the carburettor and ensure that the fuel is freely flowing through the pipe. If not, clean the pipe, the fuel cock, the tubes coming from the tank to the fuel cock, the fuel filtering net inside the tank and if there is any possibility of getting water inside the tank, get the tank itself cleaned using high pressure water and air.
3. Check the carburettor plug, clean and adjust the gap and if necessary, replace it.
4. Clean or replace the air filter.
5. Lastly, and lastly only, open the carburettor and clean the chamber and the jet pins. Do it as the last source as it is better to avoid opening the carburettor.
After each step, drive the bike and check whether the jerking persists. Any of the above steps will solve your problem.
As you are not well experienced, get all these done by sc the mechanic.
And finally, if your intention is to keep the bike with you for a long time, strictly avoid playing with its carburettor and carburettor re-tuning. It is clearly mentioned in page No. 6-24 of the owner’s manual. Please go through it.
I have gone through some of the first pages of this thread and did not see any mention about re-turning. I don’t know which fool at which time started to propagate this utter nonsense of re-tuning. Anyhow I am sure that they may have not done it with their bikes or if done, their bikes are spoiled. One of its victims is Abdul Khadar (AKFARA). Some others are travelling with a screw driver in the pocket so as to tune the carburettor whenever they get a chance. They are trying to spread their obsessive compulsive neurosis to others.
Another wide spread phobia is about tappet. Most of the propagators do not know what happens if the tappet clearance is increased or decreased. Or they are not able to distinguish its sound from other sounds from the engine. But they have got a technical word from somewhere and are launching it as a missile to others.
None in the other bike’s ownership threads are mentioning re-tuning or tappet. Then why is it in our discussion only? Are the other bikes having no tappets or carburettor? We must consider it.
Slightly increase the engine rpm and it will solve the starting problem.
Have a nice day.Last edited by vishnukmd; 12-24-2010, 03:11 AM.

Dear friend,
No furious driving will solve business or other problems. Anyhow, take it easy as you are safe.
I too have done this kind of rides. One of such trip was in the midnight, going by the side of an open cemetery. As the inmates of the tombs and me belonged to different religions, they didn’t try to stop or attack me. Otherwise, it may have caused a communal riot. So, after a while, I came back by the same way and reached home safely.

Hi Guys,
I am facing a small problem regarding the rear tail light.
Whenever I am putting the headlight switch on, the brake indicator is not working. The LED tail light is lit all right, but the brightness does not increase when the brake is applied. Brake light is working fine if headlight switch is in off position.
Please help with the issue..
Thanks in advance..Suzuki GS150R (2009)

Last time my GS got scratched was about 3 months ago, when I ran out of the road on an S shaped curve, hit loose gravel , lost the front end and toppled. GS is really difficult to manage on gravel. Just had some minor scratches on the visor, which I am still flaunting.Originally posted by MACH50 View Posttoday I lost a corner on the GS,

Riding when feeling hot-headed is a strict no-no.

Recently I am feeling my GS getting slightly out of power too.Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostThe 'out of petrol' like jerking problems and mileage problems I had been facing may have been due to shitload of dust that was deposited in the carburettor bottom. The s shaped pit at the bottom was choked with dust. The service manager had the carburettor removed, inspected, and cleaned and what a difference that made! Gaadi had felt low on power before and had become a bit unpredictable but after the cleaning, it feels much better. Will give a proper confirmation tomorrow afetr more testing on whether the problems persist or are solved.
Not getting good mileage figures too (45-50).
Is it advisable to get carburetor cleaned ?
What will they be actually doing??
Should we stay back and inspect when carb cleaning is done??Suzuki GS150R (2009)

Hii guys, I had gone to attend an interview and got selected. Will become a full fledged Soft.Engg from Jan 3rd. Wish you all a Merry Christmas
@ Mach
Thank god you are safe, like others said please avoid riding when you are angry. Everything seems possible when we are angry.......
The heel shifter is provided for a reason bro, we will simply spoil our casual shoes if we use only toe shifter. The awkward heel position is to make shifts using heel lot easier. New Yamaha SZ is also using the same design.Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostHe doesnt like the awkward looking rear portion of the gear lever. So wants to cut it off and use only the toe part. But the SC guy said that it will cause unbalance in the gearbox and will lead to complications. I too read the same that GS's gear box comes with some balancer thingie.
If your friend wants to use only toe, he can adjust the gear lever by shortening the lever that connects the gear box. Reducing the length of connecting rod will raise the toe end, which will be a comfortable position if one is using toe only .
@ Vishnu
So how did you talks with Jap engg go? Didnt hear anything after 18th?
There are many references in other threads about tuning except those with Fuel Injection. GS is delivering different mileages for different people. There may be numerous reasons for getting different mileage but a difference of around15 kms doesn't seem to add up. Thats when the discussion started.
By calling others compulsive, aren't you too closed to any new input
? When we hear anything, we will compare with what we already know, use logic if its feasible and finally decide whether to accept or not. Tuning is not a rocket science, but it can be messed easily.
I felt like cheated when mechanics were trying to fox me with all kind of lame explanations when I asked to check for tappet clearance. Its nothing serious but its annoying to hear. I asked it during free service, since they have to do lot of work and virtually dont get anything, they said GS is nice bike it dont need tappet adjustments. When engine gets hot, the clicking noise is very annoying.
Please dont take me wrong, one can get respect by presenting in an assertive way but not by ridiculing.Last edited by Anupdas; 12-24-2010, 01:22 PM.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

Congrats Anup on venturing in to professional life.Hope it will be more on soft side and iam confident that you will help friends with your professional knowledge like the inspiring service you are doing here.
My bike was serviced yesterday for the engine noise issue.this time they have replaced crank bearings.will update the improvements after 500 km ride.initially they wanted to replace engine balancer.the tech person said that the engine balancer is replaced with new one and after the serivce in the customer satisfaction form they didn't included the engine balance under the action taken column.when i enqired aboutht the same with the main tech person he was saying that it is not replaced and gave a contradictive statement from the tech person who did the service.so guyz please keep a eye on the parts that were replaced verify what was replaced and what was not.Last edited by nagthemissile; 12-24-2010, 12:53 PM.
