    @ Abdul Khader

I dont know about the TPS sensor. In my opinion its not possible to extract more power from our engine, TPS is provided to avoid wastages and to improve the efficiency. The power mode is like the only mode in other bikes, the ECO mode provides a little more mileage(Strictly my opinion). I'm very skeptical about the wheelies mentioned just because the wires were detached.

GS is a front biased(and overweight) and unless someone tries to lift the front by applying weight to back and accelerate hard its difficult to do a wheelie. Just by changing mode wont do (Unlike Fiero).

Oh Br ..... I never touched my carburetor ,except SC ....Everything fine in my bike except The engine sound changed after running 10km ,otherwise it was fine...It was called by some of GS owners as "multiple personality disorder symptoms"
The other problem is mileage 44kmpl.....after SC adjusted carburetor while changing B&P ...And promised me to do optimum tune on service camp after rain over....

If your friend wants to use only toe, he can adjust the gear lever by shortening the lever that connects the gear box. Reducing the length of connecting rod will raise the toe end, which will be a comfortable position if one is using toe only .
Okay, I shall try to convince him. Problem is, he was using his bro's RTR previously and is pretty accustomed with toe shifting, and nowadays find it difficult using heel. So just wanted to cut off the useless part and improve the looks. Nyway thanx..

            • Its not like he cannot use the toe shifter of GS, forcing to use heel. There is a choice he can or not.

I'm using only toe shifter, I use heel when I wear leather shoes. If we are riding in city conditions using toe and heel is the best way(minimum effort) to shift gears up and down.

                    • Guys, accidentally tested mileage after SC visit.......I filled 1 ltr at my usual bunk today after reserve, bike has run 48 kms on relatively rash riding with pillion(mostly) and yet to hit reserve. Thats another good thing that has come from my SC visit. But will confirm on repeat test. Regarding choke start problem, I was told that the carb was set too lean while tuning, will have it corrected and report back.

@msn1: Nothing wrong with clutch man, had it checked out.

@vishnukmd: Thanks a lot for the analysis man. I will have them tried out first thing. But you cant say that nothing good will come out of carb tuning. SC tuned my carb by CO analyser the day before and above is my mileage report after that.

Is it advisable to get carburetor cleaned ?
What will they be actually doing??
Should we stay back and inspect when carb cleaning is done??
When I complained about my problems, the service manager took a ride, took bike inside, then, had the lower cap of the carb removed(not sure if you can remove it cross section wise....havent observed) and upon inspection and spotting of dust, stirred, wiped and emptied the dust along with as little petrol as was needed for the process(wetting the dust and rinsing, draining.....around 25 ml I think).

Is it advisable? I dont know.
General approach is that: any problem might have multiple causes. For example, lack of power might have something to do with engine oil condition, fuel quality, some carburettor problem, loose chain, maybe something wrong with engine parts, so on and so forth. List out those causes if they have probability to exist. Each cause has symptoms associated with it. If possible, eliminate the causes by the detectable symptoms or their lack.....otherwise by trial and error from simpler solutions to complex ones until problem is fixed. Thats the rational way.

I agreed to carb removal because I know my service manager and trust him enough to know he doesnt do a screwjob though he does his fair share of minor mistakes. Earlier, one of his sub mechs did CO tuning on my bike to improve mileage and it made no difference. The day before, the same mech tuned it again under the manager's supervision and the results seem good.
So, his experience helps in skipping steps. But it did not solve the problem I approached with in the first place i.e. jerking. So, again trial and error. Get an opinion or 2 or more before plunging into anything. Thats why Im on xbhp....you guys provide valuable info.

@anup: congrats man.....IT job? I read in some post you were doing automobile engg.

I would advise to go for a softer tire, even with 100/90 tire there are areas which dont make contact unless we tilt excessively. If you are planning to put a tyre with higher size go for only one step 110. I would recommend to use Michelin. Abhi is running on M45 & M62. Give PM to know the details.

Increasing the tire size puts a lot strain in sprockets as they are not designed to handle the weight This will eventually wear out sprockets and chain.

Please say what that certificate is?

                            • One have to cover 1000 kms in 24 hours to get that rite. As the name suggests, our butt will really become Iron.

Im planning to take bike to a 300+ km trip from home town to Trivandrum. I would like to soften the seat of our GS. I dont have a seat cover, does it soften the seat. Please give suggestions.
