my GS is almost a month old, will be giving it for 1st service this weekend. 300+ kms done, and 3 times(it was my first time riding a bike :P),so the crash guard and brske and clutch levers are scratched, not much damage, cos i was going at 10-15 kmph on an empty road :P no damage was done to the body of the bike, though the part of the headlight was slightly scratched, im facing some, issues with the bike,
firstly, the gears are not hitting properly, even if i hold the clutch completely and try shifting gears it doesnt fall propperly, and when it does, it make a really loud "TACK" sound, finding first gear makes me take atleast a minute!! i need to keep shifting to zero and back until it shows "1" on the gear indicator!!
Secondly, the bike starts shaking after 50 kms, i dunno why, i havent gone above 55 kmph on the bike, cos its still in run in!
also, the bike keeps stopping when i try to warm up the engine in the morning!!
could these problems be because of the falls? or is it just with the bike?
yea, and im new to bikes, cos no one in my family has a bike, so i had to learn on this only, and whenever im in any gear, and i accelerate to about 4k rpm, and then let the rpm come down to like 2.5-3k, and accelerate again, i feel the bike pulling me with a jerk!! is this normal? am i doing something wrong?
would like to get some help, thanks in advance!!
bike shakes above 50kms..... i think you wanted to put kmph there......
by the way the headlamp assy shakes even at lower speeds......not the bike.....there might be something loose here and there.....ask the svc guys to rectify it.....and regarding your second problem.....use clutch to get smoother transition........

    @all
have any one tried some really really long distances with the bike yet....i meant 1000+kms continously???

Please check it again when the vehicle engine is cold, and keep it upright. That will give you the accurate measurement.
      @ sarvajit,

That's why even I got wondered and called it as strange

I did checked the oil level 5 minutes after parking and 2 hours afterwards

Whenever I check I used to keep the bike in center stand positon ( not on center stand) that's what manual adviced. Asked my friend to hold in up right center stand positon

8 days back it shows op mar with the max level in the oil inspecting window glass

4 days back it was slightly above the max level

But today it was completely occupying the glass window

Hence I did a oil change

did poured the oil in a old AGIP oil bottel which has measurment with transparent glass like visibility in one side.

The old oill quantity came above all one litter level and came just up to the birm of the bottle. ( It was almost 1100 ml)

And there is some what around 100 ml in the oil tray.

have done upto 360kms at a stretch without any issues. riding at 80-90 cruising speed.

have no doubt that the bike is good for 1000kms also. You would just need a good fully synth oil though I guess. Planning for a saddlesore are you ?

              • I have drove 1500 kms with my bike. First service of the bike is over. I am experiencing two problems:
                1. The average. its giving me 41-43 kmpl (is it normal???)
                2. When i complete riding for about 10 km or so, an awkward sound (like mouse creates) is coming from the front wheel.
I showed it to service centre, for mileage they said wait till 2nd service, and for sound problem mechanic just used air blower at the disc brakes.... But still the problem persists.

                Can anyone help me out

Your fuel tank air vent may be blocked. Ask the SC mechanic to rectify it.
Thanks Vishnu for the suggestion....i'll have it checked. BTW, I have a tank cover on. Will this block the airflow to the tank?

Dear GSpians - One of you might have come across this problem....can somebody throw some light on this issue pl.

                  Thanks in advance.

                    # 1 same happened in my case too my mileage wasn't above 48 till the 2nd service.
                    # 2 if it is caused by disk break it wont wait for 10 kms to start that sound it may be something else but might be in the disk break

don't leave the SVC guy till he fixes your issue

Engine takes some time to settle, if you are riding in eco mode and shifts
@ 4500 rpm it will definitely return 50+ mileage. Wait till the second service and ask for a carburetor tuning. Check your tire pressure.

The squeaking sound mentioned is coming from the nut connecting the swing arm and not from disc brake. Ask your technician to lubricate it and the problem will be gone, many have experienced the same. Yeah the disk brake will make a sound if dust accumulates, include the disc brake on your regular wash.

The block in air went dont have anything to do with tank cover. So its not the problem. Can you specify when the choking occurs? Does it happen when you open the throttle and engine refuses to rev? Usually these kind of problems occur due to improper carburetor tuning. What's the average you are getting?

                        • Anyone seen the new Suzuki advertisement on TV, like some superbikes racing thru a city and a race track. The advertisement ends with a voiceover that says:
"The world rides on Suzuki, so will India"
Is this a teaser to a new Suzuki performance bike launch?

Yup man i have never started my bike with kickstart as it doesnt starts with kick in the morning. i always go for kickstart first in the morning and then after few kicks i have to start it by self start itself. The bike starts by self start after 4-5 attempts. I have tried both starts without using choke. How to solve this prob..
