Ya Just check that point Pavan.
When I went to my SC last week, they were sorting the new batch of spare parts and all which had arrived from Suzuki head office.
Among the engine oil cartons, only castrol 10w40 for Suzuki Access were found. Out of curiosity I checked the premises and found empty bottle of engine oil from Reliance lying around. Upon innocent inquiry one mechanic told that they were using it for lubrication work. I am keeping my fingers closed...Suzuki GS150R (2009)

I had seen this earlier but the tryst with the shop-wale got me really confused. So I can safely go for CR7HIX without fearing any hardware incompatibility???

because during last service they mentioned 10-w30 in the bill once again
got shocked and checked with them.
The store keeper(one who enters data and do the billing) said by mistake, he mentioned access oil grade instead of GS150R oil grade as the access grade oil is by default listed in the suzuki dealers stores database where the GS150R oil is added in customized way hence its like thatSarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

@ Sooraj
Thanks bro
. There is a detailed explanation on the page 595, where Mach has wrote down why CR7HIX can be used for GS. Its a very detailed explanation. After reading that you wont have any doubt for sure.
Also its better to change the ignition cable to spit fire cables if you have budget, that will be a killer combo.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.........

That happened to me too...
While paying the bills after service I was shocked to see that the oil was mentioned as one for Access, I immediately asked for clarification and the cashier replied that it was entered as default.Suzuki GS150R (2009)

Today I hunted for spark plug and engine oil.
Was looking for iridium tipped spark plug from NGK, but the store-wale showed me a catalog of NGK spark plugs. It contained a table for bikes and scooters from every manufacturer, listing spark plugs as Ordinary, better(platinum tipped) and best(iridium tipped). Unfortunately, the spark plug specification given in our bikes manual (CPR6HSA or CPR7HSA) was available only as ordinary( No iridium tipped version produced by NGK!!!!)
I am confused because you say you are already using one with iridium tip, but the NGK catalog does not have iridium tipped one meeting the specification given in manual. How come???

Regarding engine oil, I was looking for Motul 3000V synthetic, but only found 30004T mineral oil. So finally settled for Castrol power 1. Got it for Rs. 270/-.
Please shed some light on Iridium plugs. It seems NGK is having different plugs for different bike manufacturers that too in 3 varieties each.
Is it possible to use spark plugs other than CPR6HSA/CPR7HSA??
Won't it cause any physical incompatibility???
Sooraj,
I am using iridium plug (NGK CR7 HIX) for the last 1000 kms. Costs Rs. 700/- (Rs. 550/- the cost of the plug and Rs.150/- packing and forwarding charges). I didn’t check my mileage after installing it. Didn’t change the ignition cable as I do not like to alter or modify the default wiring.
Prima facie I cannot notice any significant advantage in FE or performance. No adverse effects are noticed too. Changing the plug together with the cable may give a slight increase of 2 or 3 kml; I am not sure. Also don’t think worth buying.
If you want to buy one, please contact [email protected]. He will give you his A/c No. to deposit the amount or will send it by VPP.
What I said about the oil is from my experience. Used it for about 1 lack kms. No engine or gear box problems.
Regards.

Again the question here is "if you maintain rpm to get mileage then the smoothness(low sound cruise feel) is going bit bad"
Just check the bike sound while driving on 1 2 3rd gear on 4 to 4.5 k rpm
Nowadays am driving at the in the following gear to speed ration
1st gear mostly for starting and speed below 5 to 7 kmph.
2nd gear speed btwn 8 to 15 kmph
3rd gear speed btwn 15 to 25 kmph
4th gear 25 to 38 kmph
5th gear 33 or 35 to 48 kmph
6th Above 48kmph
Sometimes if I want smooth silent low speed cruising then all the way am switching to top gear at 28 or 35 kmph [\B]does it harm my gs goosh no idea[\B]
Anyway my mileage is not bad the average is 52kmpl
Madhu,
If in plain road, change to the 6th gear at 30 kmh. Open the throttle smoothly. The bike will pick up. Up shift at the earliest and remain there as long as possible, without engine knocking.
There is no written rule when to change the gear. Shift to the higher gear at the earliest convenient. If you think you can go in 3rd gear, try 4th and when you think you can manage in 4th, try 5th and so on. . The gear shift indicator is showing the maximum point to shift the gear; not the minimum.
I think there is no need to constantly watch the tachometer and speedometer for gear shifting. How did we drive our previous bikes which were not having a tachometer?
Best wishes.

@vishnukmd: word of caution,if you are going to use 55W bulb on the GS,then please watch out for the reflector. The heat dissipation by a 55W bulb is much higher than 35W.I have seen many bike's reflectors melt due to usage of 55W on a 35W reflector.
The NGK spark plug imparts easier throttle response and prevents rpm faulting near rev limits due to timed ignition. This is again a performance tool, used on high end machines to chip-off every bit of power from the engines.
On a bike like GS,using only Irridium wont make a huge difference, except near the Top speeds, which will become more stable.
All Suzuki high end vehicles starting right from Gladius 600 uses Irridium spark plugs per cylinder.
@Kjsooraj: You are welcome for finding my post about irridium sparkers informative.
@Anupdas: You are really helping the GSpians around lot,we really need people like you on the thread.I still remember, you were the first person to help me with my query about the GS150R before I bought the bike.Carry on Anup bhai

Petrol Saver bikes / 2 wheelers, Gives Extra Pickup
hi friends,
Is there any kit to save petrol, when i came accross bike accessories in ebay, i found the accessory to save petrol. Refer below link:
eBay India: Petrol Saver bikes / 2 wheelers, Gives Extra Pickup (item 220699867445 end time 21-Dec-2010 16:23:06 IST)
Is it really works for GS150R or just for eye wash.

1 Lakh KMS

with the same oil, thats a record man that too with a semi-synthetic oil

hope there was no error with the ODO meter

are you sure i cant believe it and its not a good practice, please feed
your fiero and give it a fresh oil dude
, even 10 ml oil evaporation per 1000 kms will make your fiero's oil tank empty by now
.
i think whenever you see marginal down in the oil you top it up with a 100 ml or some quantity of oil
@ kjsooraj
Brother its motul 300v Fully synthetic oil and motul has 3000 4T Plus 20W40 mineral oil which was too good for GS
and motul has 300v 10 w40 oil search and post in http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...gine-oils.html thread so as you will get to know the place where to get it
I did used castrol pwr 1 oil it lasts me 700 kms later it doesn't works, felt motul mineral is better.

@ Sivatpt
dont go for the ebay one it same as the one people sells at petrol bunks
in the ebay site they said Uses magnetic technology to increase the size of gas molecules as they travel through gas saver
but the same guys said connect it to spark plug what gas is going thru spark plug cable brother
and the ultimate humorous thing is they mentioned in the picture
it is described as follows
1st oil from there a cable goes to socket which in turn connected to spark plug what an new invention technology sirji fuel goes to spark plug directlyLast edited by MSN1; 11-23-2010, 12:45 AM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Well,my Dad's Suzuki Fiero(original, non TVS) is closing on that and may break that record !!!!!Originally posted by MSN1 View Post@ Vishnukmd

Though, the bike is nowhere near to performance of my 4500kms old GS150R,now.
I am giving a strict thought to completely service it and run the Fiero anew again.Back in its young days it was one hell of a bike !!!!! It thumped like Enfield and raced with four-wheelers on highways. My GS now has similar performance but it doesn't have that solid thump and roar at high speeds !!!Last edited by MACH50; 11-23-2010, 12:41 AM.Hell's Angel

@ Mach
Thanks for your good words
, really flattered
@ Madhu
I think he used the same oil brand for 1 Lakh kms
. You get too worked up when its about oil.
I'm nearing 10 K mark, so I'm also thinking about changing stock spark plug to Iridium.
Guys does anyone know a method to reduce noise from the fairing? There is a resonance @ 4K rpm where the sound from the fairing show up suddenly and to avoid it I rev above 4 K all the time
. Its taking a toll on my mileage and its hovering just above 50 kms mark.
