For that much riding i'd say GS150R anyday..
    its more comfortable.
    Pulsars dont last long.
My friend has a p150 ug3 (2 years old), he gets mileage of 30 km/l, he said even with regular servicing and maintenance his mileage never goes above 35.

      1 more question..
is it capable of doing 600kms in a day?? is there will be any engine problem???
i want a long lasting engine..

      • It is capably of doing 600kms in one day, but not each day off all week! There won't be any engine problems provided you take good care, and give rest of 5 mins after each hour or so of riding.

        • do correct me if my driving ishtyle is injurious to GS health

While driving keeping an eye on speedo is bit tough job, about the rpm meeter maintaining with it 3 to 4 k is again more tough, but with pratice it will come

Again the question here is "if you maintain rpm to get mileage then the smoothness(low sound cruise feel) is going bit bad"
Just check the bike sound while driving on 1 2 3rd gear on 4 to 4.5 k rpm

Nowadays am driving at the in the following gear to speed ration

1st gear mostly for starting and speed below 5 to 7 kmph.
2nd gear speed btwn 8 to 15 kmph
3rd gear speed btwn 15 to 25 kmph
          4th gear 25 to 38 kmph
          5th gear 33 or 35 to 48 kmph
          6th Above 48kmph

Sometimes if I want smooth silent low speed cruising then all the way am switching to top gear at 28 or 35 kmph [\B]does it harm my gs goosh no idea[\B]

Anyway my mileage is not bad the average is 52kmpl

By all means, GS 150R. It is a well balanced, well tuned, trouble free machine which gives the best mileage in the 150 cc and above segment. If carefully driven, it will give an average mileage above 60 kml. I bought GS because of my past experience with their Fiero which has covered 1.2 lakhs kms, trouble free. GS 150R is the best commu-tourer bike in our market. Trust worthy.
            Best wishes.

As already you got apt replies from falcon and animeher

Just test drive both the bike and look at the things from riding and riders comfort point.

On that even it is 60 or 70 or all the way 600 kms GS150R is anytime better.

Daily 70 to 80 kmps Oops just forget mileage and look out for comfort dude, I would recoment a cruise bike something like enfield thunderbird.

If your budget or physique doesn't allow then try GS150R because GS is made to fix the indians mentallity (one who wants comfort with, good mileage and acceptable pickup also with solid (no vibes) at top end performance all this with fearless(disk+disk=falling fear, F disk + B drum = apt for a defencive good rider) good breaking.

              [/B] Indian road logicmantra [/B]
Any bike it all depends on how defencively you are driving, and how good you are at handling the unexpeected events during your journey on the uneven indian terrains in the name of national highway (someare calling it as playground as they are good at playing with innocent peoples lives)

              • Hey anyone running the NGK CR7HIX plug here? Read an earlier post saying that it is suitable for the GS. (though not listed on the ngk site).

FS's foot peg is a little sporty while GS's is upright commuterish. And also if we change the handle bar, all the cables need to be adjusted which will be a trouble.
                  I understand it brother..
But still you havent answered my question..

its not a impossible thing, but no one will guarantee you or tell you how to ? coz none of us tried it till.

Moreover, the shape and size are different, so as a result you need to customize / Alter few of the equipments which are directly attached to the petrol tank and may be the skeleton (frame) that supports and holds the petrol tank need to drill holes or weld to accommodate the new different tank.

the outcome will be the shape and look you are looking for; but it may or may not cause technical glitches so always take support from a expert mechanic.

last hope you are aware of whats on the warranty papers

                      • Hi Guys,

I am going for my GS first service tomorrow and already clocked 735 KM's. I got 59KMPL in ecomode. Can you all clear my dailama abt below questions.

What are the things can i look after the first service?
                        Is carb settings needed?
Can i stick with SC engine oil or change to Motul/gulf 20W-40 oil?

What are the other aspects which need to be inform to SC guys?

                        • Few points to remember
                          1. Change engine oil and oil filter
                          2. Tighten drive chain
                          3. Clutch play adjustment
                          4. Tightening chassis and others engine nuts.
                          5. Any other issue you are facing
                          6. Don't ask for carb tuning as the mileage is pretty good

Dont worry about which oil to choose, the SC oil (Castrol) will hold good for 1000 kms. Lets stick with S.C oil till second service, then you can go for Motul or any other.

Your free services are over and you can easily do these replacements and other oiling and greasing yourself. The plug costs Rs. 100/- and the air filter just above Rs. 260/-.

As you are replacing the plug, why can’t try iridium plug? I can’t recommend it now but I am using it for the past 1000 kms. Not yet sure about the results. Castrol Power 1 oil (15W40, part synthetic) is a better suggestion. I have used it for 1,00,000 kms in my Suzuki Fiero. Now using it in both my Fiero and GS. Try. It costs RS. 279/-.

You are having a trouble free bike. So try to avoid all kind of modifications. Strictly avoid carburetor retuning.

                            Have a nice day.

                            Little help here Vishnu bhai.

Today I hunted for spark plug and engine oil.
Was looking for iridium tipped spark plug from NGK, but the store-wale showed me a catalog of NGK spark plugs. It contained a table for bikes and scooters from every manufacturer, listing spark plugs as Ordinary, better(platinum tipped) and best(iridium tipped). Unfortunately, the spark plug specification given in our bikes manual (CPR6HSA or CPR7HSA) was available only as ordinary( No iridium tipped version produced by NGK!!!!)

I am confused because you say you are already using one with iridium tip, but the NGK catalog does not have iridium tipped one meeting the specification given in manual. How come???

Regarding engine oil, I was looking for Motul 3000V synthetic, but only found 30004T mineral oil. So finally settled for Castrol power 1. Got it for Rs. 270/-.

Please shed some light on Iridium plugs. It seems NGK is having different plugs for different bike manufacturers that too in 3 varieties each.
Is it possible to use spark plugs other than CPR6HSA/CPR7HSA??
Won't it cause any physical incompatibility???

                                NGK Partfinder for Two Wheelers

It shows that NGK is only having conventional CPR7HSA for GS.
No G-Power(platinum tipped I think) and Iridium tipped ones..
