If its not Motul, then what is the secret behind the extra ordinary mileage you are getting ?

Nether did I say Motul has extra ordinary powers nor did I ask if I should use it or not. Neither did I ask if K&N is better than stock or not nor did I say I'm installing K&N air filter.

My question was completely based on what mechanics do & if engine tuning & carb tuning are two different things. You replied that in few lines. Other information you provided was irrelevant.

Do tell me about the raaz behind your LOW FE !
guys cool down mileage depends up on so many factors, we already told this several times in this thread.

motul is not a extraordinarily oil its one of the good oil that goes well with our gs,
the role of oil is significant but its contribution to improve mileage is not proven yet and i believe its contribution is not more than 5% and that to depends on several other factors

i am using motul 15w-50 mineral oil for the past 6 months my last five mileage readings are given below.

    48 kmpl
    52 kmpl
    45 kmpl
    39 kmpl
120 kms with two LTR (60 kmpl)

    hope you got my context

I guess its a factory defect since the hole where we fix the washer is also not perfectly round. looks Someone has forced the washer into the hole.
I dont have any history of accident or fall with this bike.

So can i chaim a replacement for that part???
The vibration of the headlight assembly and speedometer console is usual in GS and the misalignment of the visor nuts is a major cause of the vibration of it. But the breakage you mentioned is not causing vibration as the visor nut remains tight in that condition too.
In your case, I guess, the mechanic has over tightened the visor nuts when you complained about the vibration.
You can either continue with it or demand a replacement under warranty but, as it is not a frequently replaced part, it may not be readily available in the SC. It is part of the headlight reflector set which is replaced as a whole when needed.
Remember to replace the visor nuts each time you remove the visor.
Hope there is no irrelevant information in this reply.

        • Right now I came home after service & realised two issues..

          1. Horn button has become loose, before I use to press very little & horn worked & I could make music of it :P How to fix this ? ? Pls don't suggest me going back to the mech because its not possible.

          2. For the 1st time after 2 years and 8k KMS. I changed brake fluid to Castrol & rear brake has become pretty loose. Mech told me as the new oil flows, it will get tight.
Should I tighten my rear break as indicated in the manual or ride and wait for it to become tight ?

            1. I don’t think it is (self) repairable. Usually the mechanics are replacing the whole unit. If going to the SC is difficult, meet a local mechanic and ask what he can do.
            2. I cannot understand how the brake fluid and rear brake is related. If the rear brake is ineffective, adjust its free play to 2-3 cms. The brake pads under normal usage need not be changed in 8K kms but check the wear limit indicator as explained in page 6-38 of the user’s manual.
It is irrelevant here but the mechanics have a habit of touching or cleaning the brake drum and pads with greasy rag or hands while removing rear wheel.

sir,are u sure that plastic parts are covered under warrenty, since its mention such in the manual.

u mean visor nut or visor dampner(rubber part in the headlight assembly) which has to be replaced each time?

That guy did not do anything to the the horn button but don't know how it got loose. Anyway, I'll go to a local mech for that. Yes, no relevance there so tomorrow morning I'll get my brakes fixed myself .

Either kms/days whichever comes first you've to do service by that time to be eligible for claiming warranty of engine..

Wishes for your relocation.. Chennai gonna miss one GS Rider...

OT:: Missed to click a pic at 12345kms on odo., Forgot about it while riding in the traffic and it's now came to 12360kms...

I guess you're saying it's too easy to push rather than it was ever before,am I right?
If so,then your SC mech would've done some lubrication there.,,

By plastic parts they mean parts which are subject to normal wear and tear due to usage. Anyhow, ask for a free replacement of that part but it will not make any problem even if it is not replaced.

The only rubber parts in the headlight assembly are these visor nuts, cap for the headlight bulb and the bushes for the indicator bulbs.

Someone may have played with the horn button; I guess. The mechanic or you yourself can easily open that unit and try to repair it but approaching a mechanic is safer.
If the rear brake is not biting after adjusting by turning the screw, ask the mechanic you meet to clean the brake drum and pads by scrubbing with sand paper.
