  • Today I used the choke for the first kick. And me being sleepy and absent minded forgot to reset the choke. I rode all the way to office which is about 20 KM. I noticed a change in the idling level and I thought the screw has become loose and needs some tightening. But what I also noticed was that the gear shift was extremely smooth. I was shifting at the usual 4.5K RPM only like I do so normally. Shifting was like pressing a calling bell. It was so buttery smooth. Later I looked at the choke and reset it. Now the hard shifts and thud sound is back. Any thoughts on this guys?

Please practice to change engine oil periodically every 2500kms (For mineral and Semi).
Or change it at least in every 4000 kms as advised by Suzuki if there is a rarity of engine oils there in your area.
You have ridden more than 6400 kms with the oil now and, I guess sludge due to the oxidization of oil has formed in the engine.
I think an engine flushing is necessary for your bike. Or you can do a double change of oil and filter.
As engine flushing sometimes causes gear slipping, do a double oil and oil filter change. Change the oil and filter, run the engine for a few minutes to circulate the oil, drain it, replace the oil filter and fill the oil you like again.

But from some of online review I get information that suzuki remove Engine balancer technology from new 2012 models and implement new (its on their website).

      Is this true?
and how much it will affect on bikes performance.
I am expecting experts comment on this.

From where did you get this information about the removal of engine balancer from our bike? As far as I know, it is still there even on the last bike reached Suzuki dealership.
As the engine balancer technology is still in use, the question about the effects of its removal does not arise.

Why are you ‘kicking the bike’ to start? Starting with ES does not affect the bike adversely.

        Thanks in advance

I have checked on few websites and they have mentioned that "The engine uses engine balancer technology to minimise vibration and comes with a rubber damper and a balancer shaft". Guess they would have a reliable source of data.

        • Bangalore <-> Muthathi

My friends and I tripped to Muthathi last Saturday. It was a fun ride. Riding on Kanakapura road is pretty cool because of lesser traffic in the morning. The bike was pretty stable and we were cruising at good speeds all the way.

Before reaching Muthathi however, my friend asked if he could ride the last few kilometers and being a good friend I gave it to him. Well, you know, never give your bike to people who have only ridden pulsars, FZs and Avengers. GS is a very different bike. We both landed up in a nearby ditch within 2 minutes.

I was wearing enough protective gear and it kept me safe from injuries. My friend however, earned some bruises. He's fine. Thankfully, the crash landing was at a pretty slow speed. He wasn't able to control the bike while turning.

And unfortunately the bike suffered a few bruises as well. Some scratches on the tank and side body. The handle bent a little, enough to make it uncomfortable to ride. Had to turn it back into place, but still it's pretty crooked. Will change it this week.

The funny part is that my friend holds a valid license and I'm the one with an LL.

          Few questions:
          1. Price of the stock handle?
          2. Is there any other better and more reliable option than the stock handle? The stock handle looks very weak.

New handlebar of gs150r costs Rs 264.86
The stock handlebar actually is very strong.Check whether yours is bent or just twisted.

Did a quick search and found out that @fadeawayraj switched to the TB handle for more comfort. Interesting. But, I think I'll stay low and probably just get the stock one. Thanks!

Rs. 195/- for handlebar but the price of most of the spare parts has significantly been reduced now and KIRTIMANNAN may be more correct. The best option is the stock handlebar itself as changing it changes the comfortable riding posture of our bike. The problem is that there are three types of handlebars and finding out a suitable one for the handlebar weights of the older model bikes is difficult or that one may not be readily available at the SC. In that case, replace the weights too.
Do not try to straighten the bent handlebar.

You can visit nearest , showroom and also check with service center for confirmation , as per me taking confirmation during my booking , Mr service manager told if suzuki removes engine balancer this bike will compete with likes of R15 / pulsar /rtr 180 on performance dept with vibes.they will have to redesign the bike and transmission without balancer. balancer is not just additional utility its part of the engine and sits in the heart of engine, so all dynamics will be altered.

Though i will or no one in this forum will try to run bike on choke to see for the difference you claim , choke only provides rich mixture or excess fuel that is needed during cold starts . transmission has nothing to do with AFR. ... may be there is power transmission embedded in GS

My idea is just twist the same sticker up side down will invert the color [I may be wrong if so i am sorry]
You cna only invert color of digits , that is white over black instead of black over white (presently) but this combination affects daylight viewing , night viewing may be a treat.steps shown on the site is tedious and risk of damaging the display .
Changing color of backlite LED's is easier option

Vikshe, changing the back light color is way too difficult than you think. First of all you have to desolder the display from the board and then desolder the LEDs. After soldering the new LEDs in place of old ones you have to solder the LCD back in position which require a lot of soldering skill and there is a risk of damaging the speedo assy itself.Reversing LCD is very easy. All you have to do is tear off the old sticker (actually it is known as polarization filter) and stick a new one upside down.
