partho, dont bother to buy suzuki SAE 20 W 40 oil because it is the cheapest oil castrol is supplying today. There are better castrol oils like castrol ACTIV (Rs.250) and castrol power1 (Rs.310) which are easily available in the market. All you have to do is to approach an authorized castrol retailer.Refer loadmovie .In case of buying spare parts i don't think there is such rules that prevent service center from selling spare parts to customers.Originally posted by partho View Post

Partho, glad to see you around after a very long long back...Originally posted by partho View PostYesterday I went channai for the servicing of my GS150R (5th paid) at Jain Suzuki,Pallavaram. Their service is good till now. I was willing to buy one bottle of SAE 20 W 40 oil from them with extra payment. But they refused to sell. They told, it is prohibited by Suzuki to sale oil or spare parts from service centre. Even if my clutch wire is damaged, they will not sale the spare part. In that case I'll have to take my bike to them or contact them to provide service against extra charge.
It means for replacing Rs.100 clutch wire, I'll have to pay
Rs.100 for clutch wire cost+
Rs.500 (approximate service charge including the technician's up and down travelling expenses, as I stay 80 km away from chennai)
+ Rs.50 tips
Total Rs.650.
Is it justifiable?
GS150R is a fantastic bike and probably the best in the segment. It is a rude shock to me that in the event of a breakdown, the authorized service centre is not going to sale me minimum spares in the name of Suzuki Rules. Can some one throw some light on this?
Dont know exactly it's the startegy or rule followed by Suzuki or not., But surely that strategy is for Jains Suzuki atleast.,
I had procured one major part ie. alternator from and gear rod arm, consumables, gaskets, some bolts for headlight assembly.., Other than alternator & gear rod arm, remaining things were also purchased from both SMK velachery and porur.,
I'd changed my bikes handle bar end wieghts to YAMAHA FZ's style., When I went to purchase it from RAJ YAMAHA, Adyar, person at the spare section told that they cannot give it to end users/customers directly.. They asked me to bring the bike..It costs Rs.30..
What I did was, spoke to the sc manager and told him that it's for my friends bike which is at Tambaram (some 20kms), and explained him by stating how could I bring my bike for this little thing., Then the sales person got the managers instrucion and then handed over it to me...
Some SC will follow such strategy to make their customer stick to them all the queries., They dont realise its after effects..
You just explain it to your SC Manager and see it works or not.. If not head to SMK or ABT and get the spares...

Magesh

Thanks Magesh, Dip for your reply. You all are right. Suzuki is not a company of fools. I'll visit some other service center for purchasing spares. Till date I've driven 6000 km and I am extremely happy with the bike. Regarding my long absence, it is my office and kid who prevent me from spending time with pc.
Regards,
Partho.

i was wondering about this pseudo-reserve thingy, then i came up on this thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...ed-engine.html in which Old Fox sir clearly explained the float-needle arrangement which in-turn explains the above myth.Originally posted by punarvasu View Post

Hello Friends
After using the Two Telescopic HID's for about three days of testing here is an update:
1. After an hour and 10Min of using those Two HID's , Battery goes Down and the Light's Illumination also dies
This is due to using the Stock coil and FZ RR with stock Battery
2. Now i am planning for Rewinding the Stator coil(anyway i think this will affect the mileage of the bike but i dont have any other option right now to increase the charging current)
3. Requirement of the current for those two Telescopic HID is about 9.6Amps constantly (this is with two CCFL angle Eye and the Relays inside the Telescopic HID)

Rewind the coil with 18swg copper wire ..Originally posted by firegun View Post

If only two HID's (w/o headlamp) gonna be used then rewinding alone will do the job with Yamaha RR..
I sometime use both upper/dipper (55/60w Philips Xtreme Vision) simultaneously which sums up 115watts (~9A) + tail light + pilot lamp (LED) + number plate lamp (LED).. which will add another 3A.. Didnt faced any battery drain issues..
I'd done full DC at 3500kms and it's now at 16000 kms...
So I suggest you to go for Rewinding with Ape RR .,

So you are going through the previous pages of this thread? That is nice but don’t forget these threads where some real experts are active and so technically far ahead. Here is another one which, while going through gives the nostalgic memories of our classrooms where we sat attentively before the teachers.Originally posted by Rashid View Posti was wondering about this pseudo-reserve thingy, then i came up on this thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...ed-engine.html in which Old Fox sir clearly explained the float-needle arrangement which in-turn explains the above myth.
May be because our bike is comparatively trouble free, once we were discussing the tappet noise and carburetor tuning but now the ‘thud-thud’/’tic-tic’ sound and rough gear shifting. So don’t expect anything technical from here.
In my experience, rewinding of the coil or converting to full DC is not affecting the mileage significantly. The result of the test ride before and after modification was the same 70 kml.Originally posted by firegun View Post2. And I think the stock battery is enough even for HID after making the bike full DC.Last edited by punarvasu; 06-11-2012, 02:02 AM.

I too had went through that discussions, even before I made my footprint here...Originally posted by punarvasu View Postwhile going through gives the nostalgic memories of our classrooms where we sat attentively before the teachers.

Let us be ready with paracetamol and cough syrup to welcome the coming monsoon season then.Originally posted by gmagesh14 View PostThese are seasonal diseases.
Apart from the sounds and gear shifting, what else have we to discuss about? The problem is that GS is a problem free bike.
