My bike's mileage seems to have gone down the past 2k odd kms(down from ~55kmpl to ~46kmpl which is very noticeable). I did oil change at ~1.5k and ~6.2k kms (svc guy was saying that only top-up necessary in previous services) and the current odo reading is 8612kms. After the second oil change I had felt the engine become noticeably smoother and I was actually expecting even better mileage for that reason but the opposite happened Also, I am maintaining air pressure as recommended here (25 & 33psi) and drive at 4-5k rpm and rarely go beyond 70kmph. I've not tried lubing the chain, changing spark plug etc as I am not familiar with bikes or mechanically minded in general.

What could be possible reasons for the drop in mileage?
o brother even am in the same boat i havent changed sparkplug or lubed the chain.

i agree condition of chain, engine oil and spark plug will impact mileage, but wait mileage is not just depending on this three alone there are many more factors that impacts the mileage

to determine the actual mileage of your bike please take a bottle method mileage check and if needed consult ASC

Apart from the techniques you have mentioned, try shifting gears slowly, and twist your right wrist very slowly.

ZMA or GS or CBZX. - Purely based on my opinion.

Reason for the above statement is cause, no matter what people say, its the riders comfort that matters, meaning if I'm 6 feet 2 inches and still like to ride a TVS Champ, then no more comments required, Champ it is.

Theres a guy in my college, he owns FZ,P220 and R6(Bought from a fellow Xbhpian). He's like so tall that, I dont know what to say, I'm guessing something above 6 5' and 7. Yet he's comfortable riding all 3 of the bikes.
Thanks for the clarification and I shall try to read it again in the suggested way whenever I get enough time to spend for it.

Most of us are changing the oil and oil filter in every 2000-2500 kms.
Is there any oil leakage in your bike making the top up necessary?
As I said I had asked the svc guy to do oil change in the service before last but he said that he will check and see it its necessary(I think it would have been only ~3k kms from last oil change at that point) and then when I went to pick up the bike he said that only top up was needed and they charged me Rs 40 for that.
I did notice some oil spilled on the concrete below the engine the day after getting oil changed but as it happened only once I don't think there is any leakage.

I am checking mileage by noting down fuel filled every time and taking average mileage over total distance travelled by the bike. If I use bottle method wouldn't it only give the mileage for the specific stretch of road travelled and under that specific condition?

Also after filling to full tank(14.73ltrs/Rs 1000) I hit the reserve after riding around 700kms the last 3 times while I used to be able to get 800+kms earlier which seems like a noticeable drop.

I don't accelerate too hard except in rare situations and shift gears at ~4000rpm only.

Yes. Try to ride the bike yourself when testing. Select a flat road with no incline, and you get an estimate of the best case scenario, and for other situations, the mileage would not vary more than +/- 5km provided that you ride in the same style.

In answer to this, I'd like to ask a few questions,

How many ads you've seen of GS150R?

How many banners you've seen on roads of this bike?

I guess you won't have, since Suzuki does not promote like that, they just try to give the best quality product and spend their resources in making that instead of making it popular.

I still remember, when I first got a chance to buy a bike, I never had even heard of it. I had created a list of bikes to try and was about to select one from those but then I saw it in the showroom and I thought why not give it a try, that was the moment I decided, no more test runs, its the bike, and I just bought it(though I bought a second hand bike due to mixed reviews about the bike from local people, who DON'T ACTUALLY KNEW what they were talking about). Then I came to know about this community on xbhp and now I can say its one of the best in 150cc bike segment.

Also its a good thing for me that most people don't have this bike, it gives me a feeling of riding something unique and different from others.....

The situation is improving in all cities. The numbers of this bike I see on the roads has increased 2-3 times than what it used to be just a year ago. I believe that this community on xBhp is responsible for spreading awareness about this bike more than the parent company itself. Information about this bike or other Suzuki products is spread more by words of mouth rather than ads in the newspapers or TV. Apart from that, many people never buy any product apart from Suzuki after getting a picture of the reliability and quality these products offer. Ask some of your friends who have other bikes if they would buy products from the same company if they had the resources. Compare this response with the response from people using products from Suzuki and Honda. You will find your answer.

Given the mostly sad condition of the roads on my commute(and bangalore in general), I kind of keep wishing for a more manouverable bike with larger ground clearence so I can ride over stone and gravel strewn, potholed and bumpy roads and footpaths without much drama in my attempts to beat the traffic. Ive scraped the bottom of the bike's exhaust more than once in my attempts to "beat the traffic".

Also the fact that the bike needs to be revved over 6k rpm to have any semblance of a responsive acceleration. Its good that the first gear is so small, you can easily get into the higher revs as you shift to second. On one hand its a hassle to rev high to overtake while bikes like fz and rtr do it with relative ease from lower to middle revrange; on the other hand, the nicely bunched power up at the top from 6k-8k makes it worth it if you can stay there.

                        But of course, Im nitpicking.

                        By the way, congrats!
                        Thanks brother.

About the points you mentioned, increasing ground clearance would also result in a higher center of gravity, which for the frame and weight balance of this bike would lead to loss of manoeveurability. There are already people complaining that this bike is too difficult to handle so I doubt whether too many people would vote for that.

Apart from that, the GS150R is a good VFM proposition, in my opinion.
