Agreed. But the point i'm trying put forward is that a bike should be designed for a particular purpose from the R&D stage. The frame, suspension and weight balance are adjusted for a specific purpose. Re-adjusting this calibration would require additional resources. So, in my opinion, instead of redesigning a bike that already has decent sales, it is profitable for the company to design a new bike altogether.Originally posted by punarvasu View PostThe ground clearance of Hero Impulse is 245 mm and of Suzuki Hayabusa is 120 mm.In today's world, quotes don't matter. Even i am 5'11'' height. I feel very good on GS compared to other models. For you it wont be different.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostOk Sir JI.. I will correct that..
. I dont like IMPULSE... infact i dont like hero any more.. just copy pasting honda product.. few example ignitor, cbz just stupid cosmetic change....
Try to test drive it and decide about it. I drove 550+ KM's(Pune-Hyd) in 12 hours without back and wrist pain
. So test drive and decide your self. You will be better know about your comfort rather than any other.

Why would you want any other option?Originally posted by jammbuster View PostHmm.... ok .. i will do... any other bike you can refer .....
The only alternatives i can think of are the Honda Stunner and Unicorn apart from Karizma.Last edited by vikhyath; 02-03-2012, 02:12 PM.In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Dont look at the company, look at the product. If the product is good, theres no reason to refuse it. The impulse is a solid product by all means.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostOk Sir JI.. I will correct that..

Final word here on this matter is that GS is very good. There are other nicely fitting options as well...FZ, SZ, dazzler, cbzX, impulse. Take a TD....its best to decide for yourself.
And, please continue this discussion in the appropriate section....you'll get the most number of responses there.
About the points you mentioned, increasing ground clearance would also result in a higher center of gravity, which for the frame and weight balance of this bike would lead to loss of manoeveurability. There are already people complaining that this bike is too difficult to handle so I doubt whether too many people would vote for that.@ Vikhyath and newfan: Yeah....like I said, Im nitpicking. Its a very well thought out bike for what its targeted at.I guess Gs is one of the bike with good height and ground clearance when compared to FZs, RTRs. I find it hard to ride my frieds FZ which usually rubs most of speed breaker because of its height and flexible monocross.
I feel that bike is ideal for those who are tall and strong. I normally have tough time in getting the bike out of the parking area(pushing)
. surely not for lean 20 year odds like me.
Handling it just needs some time to develop the right muscles for it and getting used to it. After a year of usage, the ease of riding and handling has become much similar to my old 2t (with the gains of a higher average speed and better braking).
But manoueverability is another thing....I cant swing the GS around tight corners or just take it up and down broken roads, unbuilt roads, footpaths et al with as much ease as I wish.
Now, im not saying its a weakness.....not at all. Its very good for what its made for. Its simply my wishlist....I use it mostly for a speedy commute around town.....and for an intensive city riding(esp bangalore), traffic beating application, i think it can be modified for a stiffer suspension to raise the clearence even a slight bit and hold it there without much sag, any amount of weight shaving off the bike and a pair of semi off road tires.
Suzuki seems to have made this a jack of all, with the huge tank, nicely set up but kind of soft suspension and the gradual power delivery till the middle. If we can get an improved GS with a bit higher ground clearence, lower weight and more power wth a stronger mid range, it would be THE all rounder(atleast among the local competition). GS 160\180 anyone? I keep thinking this is the right step for an upgrade to the GS.

We share the same feelings. I still can't understand why Suzuki is focussing elsewhere when companies from around the world are expressing desires to build a made in India superbike. In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Theres a lot of areas to cover for suzuki's growth here. There are so many bikes that it needs to respond to....the r15 and the impulse are the first that come to my mind.Originally posted by vikhyath View PostWe share the same feelings. I guess that with the good sales of the sling shot, suzuki decided to play it safe with the lower capacity market. Though the gladiator\SS125 is a nice target that suzuki can build a bike around.

Playing it safe... yes indeed. Why invest in production of 150-200 cc sport/off-road bike when 125cc Access and SlingShot makes are making decent figures on sales graphs.
Apparently, customers response to Suzuki is not so overwhelming; Suzuki plays it safe. Customers are skeptical about Suzuki for it's not so aggressive nature in market.
Access/SlingShot are giving some higher sales figures and Suzuki is juggling around them instead of taking giant steps towards new Engines(Made in India of course).
It's said engines of GW250 which was introduced in UK are being made in China. I lost the source of this info though...Last edited by SparKot; 02-04-2012, 12:15 AM.There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

Thank you everyone for your suggestion...
I have bought motul 3000 20w 40 mineral oil which costed me Rs.200 and going to upgrade for semi synthetic oil after 4th service.
While enquiring i found that motul fully synthetic oil 15w 50 is Rs.828 as mentioned in mrp.If you ride like there's no tomorrow there won't be...

Mineral oil is none other than general engine oil which we use normally in our bikes.Basically there are three types of engine oilOriginally posted by jammbuster View PostWhat is mineral OIL ??????
and why it is used.. is it different from mobi oil... >
Mineral Oil-Oil obtained through natural mineral source
Synthetic Oil-Oil which is synthesized artificially
Semi synthetic Oil-A blend of both mineral and synthetic oil, which gives benefits of synthetic oil along with mineral oil.
In simple term mineral oil loose their viscosity within a shorter span whereas synthetic oil will last for several kms and give better performance. If you ride like there's no tomorrow there won't be...

in budget term mineral is cheaper than semi-synthetic and semi synthetic is cheaper than Synthetic.
mineral oil is environmental friendly (in comparison to the other two types)
spending 200 ruppes for mineral oil and using it for 2500 to 4000 kms
and spending 350 to 500 rupees and using the semi synthetic for the same 2500 to 4000 kms where the manufacturers says this is better than mineral
(but in general you wont find much difference)
at last spending 700 to 900 rupees on synthetic and using it for up to 6000 or 7000 kms, where its too smooth.
except mineral rest of the two types aren't recommended for new bikes.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity
