No. You can use any brand of oil you like except fully synthetic. It will not affect the warranty in any way.
But there is a technical problem if the SC does not note that the oil is changed at the time of second service. To solve it, bring the oil you like with you and ask them to fill that oil.

I think it is because of the excess pressure you have applied on the rear brake and your inability to control the bike. This link may be helpful to you.

            - buy O-Ring as well when you buy Oil-Filter from SVC.
            - instead of 900ml Engine-Oil buy 1L(Standard).
            - while draining oil, in the end once Oil stops dripping, you can kick(not too hard!) the kick-starter lever to get rid of some oil sticking to engine parts.

take care of hands from hot engine-oil.
Thanks @SparKot for the response. Could you pls confirm/comment on my following questions?

            1. I presume that we don't have to worry about O-Ring if we are not changing the Oil-Filter. Is this correct?

            2. I presume that the grade needed is 20W-40. Which brand is a good recommended one for usage in GS150R?

            3. Do we need to warm the engine(by riding it for 5 kms or so) before initiating the engine oil change process?

Apologies if my questions are stupid but I am just trying to learn things now.

            Cheers

Selection of engine oil is purely subjective as reliable comparative studies are not at all available. Select any xxW-40 viscosity oil.

If either case, keep the bike tilted to both sides for a few minutes after the initial draining. This will help to remove maximum amount of used oil from the engine.

As per my experience use motul......i had bad experiences with gulf and castrol though....

Thanks @punarvasu and @Maestro for the quick response.

The mileage on my GS150R is quite low. I hardly do 300kms/month. As per the owner's manual, Suzuki says the oil change is recommended every 4000kms. But my case is an exception. I don't think I can wait till every 4000kms. Either I change it every 4000kms or I change the oil every 'X' months. What is that people recommend here for my scenario.

Change it every four-five months....that accounts 1500kms.....its ideal for SVC provided oil....

It may sound silly. But sometimes, simple steps can considerably improve mileage.

We sometimes forget to switch of the petrol tap in the evening and leave it open overnight. This MIGHT lead to a drop in mileage. Please check other leakage points before putting the blame square on the bike engine.

I am getting above 55km mileage even though I drive very fast.

                      • @Punarvasu:: You set a benchmark for us to maintain our bike,,,, Doesn't looks like a 2yr old bike... Keep up the good work..

                        To all.,,

In the last six days, I rode more than 1000kms just official work not for touring...
Four days back when I was on the way to Pondicherry from Chennai (around 160kms), I hit the three digit mark in my bike and managed to drive in that range for around or more than 50kms..

And for my surprise it returned 50kmpl avg,, 606kms for 12lts of fuel.. avg spd is 80-90kmph...

That was the 1st time I took my bike to three digits, and I noticed that it was done just above 8k rpm .. Also 90kmph at 7k rpm...
First time I overtook a VOLVO doing at 100k... He is giving way to me after hearing my horn sound... Oh! that was an amazing moment...

But day before yesterday when I was again heading to Pondicherry, I rode my bike at three digits ,,which was done easily at 7k rpm itself...

Max speed it reached was 112kmph at 8.2krpm (full throttle)... It doesn't goes above this range..

While returning, my bike hit the reserve level in Pondicherry, so filled the tank immediately to check its maximum capacity..

Able to fill 14.63ltrs (Rs.940) + Reserve... So 18ltrs approximately...

Bike still shows full level in indicator even after 180kms+..

As usual it is more stable even at full throttle., no wrist pain.. perfect bike for long distance, thanks to dual horn ,which helped a hell lot of times.... a very good road presence.. a real highway cruiser...

A very bunch of thanks to all the DC converted owners of GS ..
It was a great day for me to ride in ECR at night with full confidence of the road.. I cruised at 80-90kmph at night time in ECR..
Visbility with 55/60w philips xtreme vision is great and it helped me to ride safely.. So I'm going to hop on to OSRAM NB+ soon...

Yesterday evng gave my bike for 3rd free service at 6280kms., Asked them to check the engine noise which is happening after 50kmph...

Today got my bike and after riding some 20kms found that the noise is still coming.. They had wrote as CHECKED in their service list for this problem...

So my next service will be at another svc to hope & get the best from my bike..

                          • I think the tank holds slightly more than 15 litres. I normally fill 14.73 litres(Rs 1000 ) and it fills only to a couple of inches below the tank mouth.

We can fill more than 18.5 liters of fuel in the tank.
