Do not expect a better output from any 35 or 55 watts bulbs unless you convert the bike to full DC. A 55/60 watts Osram NB or Philips X-treme Power may give slightly better light if the stator coil is rewound with 18 or 19 swg wire, retaining the stock RR.Originally posted by chiron View PostWhat headlight bulbs are recommended for the gs150 to get better visibility?
Instead of replacing the headlight bulb, convert the bike to full DC by rewinding the coil and replacing the RR. After that, use a good Osram or Philips 55/60 watts bulb.
Follow magesh here. He has recently converted his bike to full DC.Last edited by punarvasu; 01-21-2012, 11:22 PM.

hi,
I am new to thread. I completed my first service. In my gs the electric doesn't work properly after my first service. In many occasion it fails to start and make the digital meter to restart and clock restarts from 1:00. I questioned the mechanic in service center about this. They made a check through and said batter low. After the check i almost completed about 500km. still having this problem. How to rectify this problem??

Go to the battery shop....ask the guy present there whether the battery is fine....if its not charged then get it charged, if not charging properly then ask for a replacement....do carry your service manual....as it has a battery warranty card.....Originally posted by slayer0027 View Posthi,

Aren't SVC supposed to be most reliable source of information for maintaining the bike in right condition and pro-customer minded?

Handlebar change in GS 150 R
I am letting all know about this change on my bike just in a hope that this might help someone.
After so much of searching & reading, finally got the thunderbird handlebar onto my GS 150R.
My Requirement was:
a) i felt i had to lean a bit forward and many times, had to take the impact of the pot holes or speed breakers onto my wrist and shoulders, eventually started to experience pain in my wrist, palm. Hence wanted a handle bar which is closer to my body and can allow me sit straight while driving.
Options i had:
1)I couldn't find any handle bar from any of the current bikes in india which has more than 3 inches of more height when compared to GS's handle bar. Slingshot handle bar was bit taller compared to many, but getting it was like horrible pain in my *rs*. Those guys @ SC are awesome(lol), horrible experience in buying just a duckin handle bar. Tried three SCs, domlur, thubarahalli, and old airport road.
2)Tried few types of handle bar risers too at JC road, i got every riser with single screw hole mount type. I didn't wanted to go for any major modifications to deploy the riser as it needs a single hole drilled on the fork holder plate and a groove to be milled onto the plate.
3) didn;t wanted to increase the fork length by having those spacers inside the fork tube which might affect bike handling and shock absorbers functioning.
4) Tried diff handle bar positions with the stock handle bar.
5) Tried diff rear shock absorbers positions too.
Then i bought the thunderbird handle bar(without bar end weights) from Sandya automobiles, JC road-bangalore for Rs. 450.
Had done thorough check on all the cable lengths.
Went to my reliable mech on kanakapura road, he did the job and made some changes in cable routing. I am so comfortable while riding now.
Now the Allen key bolt size is, i guess M4 and the thunder bird bar end weights need M6.
Hence will have to get the bar end weights some other time.
Pictures to be posted soon.
NOTE: Please consider those weird looks and comments from others before going for this change. I don't give a duck about what others feel about my bike.

But very slow!Originally posted by SparKot View Postyour approach of pointing out every step during the procedure is lifting confidence in everyone who wants to do it.
Almost all the colors show the dust on it. Regular washing, polishing and keeping in shades will prevent fading of the color up to a certain limit as the polishing helps to reflect the light instead of absorbing it.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostThe problem with dark shades is that every speck of dust shows. How does white behave under such conditions?
So, select whatever color you prefer and wash and polish it regularly with good car shampoo and carnauba based wax.

Greetings everyone
Quite a lot of discussions going on
BTW very nice and detailed pictorial from gmagesh
Thanks for all the efforts you had put ......
Today I completed 10000 kms in 8 months, 3 moderate sized trips till now with a nandi hills trip day before yesterday.
Needless to say GS rocks the highway.
Went to nandi hills and nearby places with colleagues and guess who was my pillion!!!
My boss(CEO)
and he loved the comfort offered by GS..
Fifth service due next week.
Mileage as usual ~46kmpl and I am satisfied..Usually cruise @ 70-80 range
