Its not the factor of safety that concerns me, it looks ugly.Originally posted by ssivakumar.r View Postthis welding is done by welders (not automatic), so dont worry...
definetly Suzuki puts lots of FACTOR OF SAFETY to this welding process
almost all chassis welding is done manually, its very strong than it looks.
They could have done it properly (even). I have done engineering and if I had done such a welding in my exams I would have got 50 out of 100

even experienced welders cant do a continuous welding(uniform) in a CURVY path... welding in straight line is very easy.Originally posted by kumarprabhatn View PostIts not the factor of safety that concerns me, it looks ugly.

people wont notice these welding areas
then will be attracted by tank size, headlamp, digi console etc
so that doesnt play a role in looks except for you, as you are concentrating at that part... relax

You changed the Rear tyre? How much did it cost? Did u change it at the service center?Originally posted by imjoshee View PostFriends,Done 5300kms on the odo & got the third service done.Bike feels completely smooth & the brakes getting better each day. Also got my tyre changed to Michellin M45 4.00 x 18 straight fit no modifications done to fit it,changes it as the stock MRF Zapper Y sucks on wet roads,it skids a lot.Have any one also felt the same. Will post the pics tomorrow.
About the braking.... Ya its getting better day by day

Ya the braking is good... Today i was suppose to bang an auto fellow who came in the opposite direction, when i applied the brakes, it stopped without skidding. I am satisfied a lot with its breaking. As the Japanese Guy told "The brakes doesn't make the bike skid easily, at the same time it also does its job well".Originally posted by Bubbly View PostYou changed the Rear tyre? It can easily rust the interior of the rod, if water enters through that hole(ref. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post238709 check out 1st picture's bottom most red mark), isn't it? What to do ?Originally posted by ssivakumar.r View Postya... same non uniform welding
and dunno the reason for that hole

I would like to share my experience of 1st (medium) long trip on my GS-
Its called Tamhini ghat, 90 km from Pune. Surrounded with tall mountains, waterfalls and some heavenly greenery. So here's my bike experience-
The road is mostly narrow, bumpy, muddy and always having turns, ups and downs. My average seed was 60 kmph under 5k rpm. Once on a straight smooth slope, I couldn't control and touched 6k rpm for 2-3 seconds. But I felt vibrations in foot and handle. Then I reduced down immediately to normal speed. On the whole ride bike was greatly smooth under 5k rpm. While climbing up the ghat, it was satisfactory smooth and easily pulled my 90 kg friend at 4.5k rpm in 4th gear at speed of 40-45 kmph. I hope after 1-2 services the bike will be throughout smooth (like what happened with Sivkumar's GS)
. Never at all felt jerks while going. while coming, somewhere Mulshi, my bike came on reserve and I moved cock to RES. From this point, I felt little jerks
...
Gear shifting is as usual butter smooth. I was continuously riding in rain and rest other things are perfectly fine
.
Here are some photos-

(pics became little darker when I uploaded on flickr... they look fine on my pc and on orkut.. how can it be)
Overall I enjoyed the ride and got fever on the next day !!!

Dont worry about those vibrations at 6k rpm... Now i could feel them reducing considerably... 2500 on the odo and waiting for my second service on 18th of this month... I have been pushing my bike between 5k - 6.5k rpm these days... I can feel the reduction in vibrations if i keep my bike in rough spots often... I am sure the vibes will almost disappear after 2nd service as said by sivakumar
And take care of ur health buddy

Problem with fuel tank during rain
Guys,
Yesterdy it rained in chennai. For the first time, my bike got wet in the rain
. Today morning as I was wiping the bike, I noticed water present near the fuel tank mouth. There is a place where water could stay. I was able to see through the narrow side of the feul cover. I wanted where exactly the water was and opened the fuel mouth only to find drops of water going into the tank. I was able to see the drops inside the tank

....
I've seen many of you guys riding in rain, have you ever noticed that
Then I checked the feul knob. I it was well shielded that nothing could go in. But due to the fact that i opened the tank, some drops went into it. Is this a real problem to worry about ???? What damage could this cause to my engine.??
I was planning to take my bike to home town tommorrow [If possible today evening itself]. From next time I'll never open the tank till the water dries by itself.
