Thats really odd, from my personal experience I'm saying this. You find a good local mechanic and ask him to tune your carb. Fill 2 L worth fuel and check the mileage by reserve to reserve. It will definitely betterOriginally posted by SriKi.GSpian View Post

Carb tuning
Hi guys...Would like to know something about the carb tuning. Wrt the carb tuning procedure if we don't put the rpm to 3000 & just adjust the golden screw directly what will be the outcome?????
Will it affect the carb (I mean components within that like jet needle etc???) If that's not the case then how does local mechanics do??? Do they follow all the steps clinically???

dnt ever think of selling the beast......Originally posted by SriKi.GSpian View Post6500 odd kms bro..!! no..i shift gears correctly at 4.5 rpm..ie:16(1st gear),28,36,46,52,60 till(6th gear) !! and i get only 30 to 35 km/ltr..have checked it many times...very disgusted and i too planned of selling my beast just for the sake of sudden drop in mileage

do the carb tuning it'll sort the issue......by the way what is the idling rpm????Originally posted by SriKi.GSpian View Postthnx so much for your quick response!! ..no i do ride too fast and the oly solution for this which i think of is to go to SC n have my carburettor checked and do the co test for the bike..!! there is tank rusting,vibrations,roughness...!! am very confused!!

The idling rpm is increased so that the engine wont stall when the air-fuel ratio is made to the leanest position. If we wont raise the idling the engine will simply stall and it wont affect other parts as they dont have nothing to with the tuning.Originally posted by rskk89 View PostHi guys...Would like to know something about the carb tuning. I have seen local mechanics tuning the carb, it roughly took a minute for him to tune the carb. They listen to the engine sound to find the spot. While the service centre guys use carbon monoxide sensors and high accuracy rpm meters to do the job. Surprisingly I got better mileage after tuning from a local mech. So its not about the gizmos but the skill

Buddy can you tell what is the right position for the golden screw to be?? Am juggling in between 2 to 3.5..My mileage is also varying in between 48 to 54..But has not crossed above 55. Before tuning the carb my bike used to give around 60 in city in eco mode & almost 66 in NH in god mode @ 70-80 kmph. Now i've lost that figures..Originally posted by Anupdas View PostThe idling rpm is increased so that the engine wont stall when the air-fuel ratio is made to the leanest position. Dearcbf150m,Originally posted by cbf150m View PostIt happens not only in top gear but gears 3 4 5 6 . I am getting a mileage of 43km/lt.
For a free flow of fuel from the tank, there should be a flow of air to the tank and this air supply is done through a small vent inside the fuel tank cap. Sometimes, especially in new bikes this small vent may get clogged by dust or something like it. The result is an interrupted flow of fuel to the carburettor. This leads to jerking (going to stop but suddenly moves again and repeats it.) In some situations it will be dangerous.
Some other problems such as a faulty carburettor plug etc. may cause this but as your bike is new and as it is GSR, there is no reason to suspect the plug.
Any mechanic will clean the vent. But ours is a technically advanced bike. So never approach anyone except your SC guys for repairing as others will ruin your bike.
All the best.

Me is the "someone" bro....For me I filled after my bike ran for 11km after reserve and till brim level it consumes 19.10ltr ...ur calculation is right 19.10+3.5 reserve(approx)=22.60ltrOriginally posted by gs150r View Post
I filled full tank petrol today in shell, i was running in reserve since couple of days. I guess there was about 1 litre approx in reserve. Filled it till tank lock portion coudnt put more petrol as it was the max
. The total petrol filled was 20.85 litres. which means the tank capacity is atleast 22.5 litres as mentioned by someone earlier in this thread.
Will ride about 150 Kms and then fill petrol again till Brim level..this would give very accurate Milaege.
[This method would give accurate milaege compared to all other methods.]Last edited by akfara; 11-19-2010, 12:36 AM.ABDUL KHADAR

I dont think that a setting for one bike will return the same in another engine. In my case 2.75 returns me a mileage of 52 with a pillion and 55 when im doing solo riding. I usually ride between 60-70.Originally posted by rskk89 View PostBuddy can you tell what is the right position for the golden screw to be?? Why did you bother to tune if you were having these fantastic figures?

By being so nice you are actually teasing us bro

I will buy that engine, that transmission, chamber,Fuel system and all and plonk it on my GS to make the ultimate muscle bike hahahaha.Originally posted by Maestro View Postits an 150cc performance one.....and the power of it will be somewhere around 17-18bhp.....

But however for time being,I wish that Suzuki developed and launched the GSR250 along with the GSX150 straight away.
Honda has already brought in the Dazzler and now is preparing the CBR250 !!!!
On another news I heard that a Slingshot Plus has also been launched,I am yet to spot the difference between Slingshot and Slingshot plus.
@mileage troubled GSpians: Luck or not,my GS drinks the least fuel among all my friend's bikes.....considering the fact that none of my friends use 100cc bikes
It is even more frugal than my cousin's Wind125 !!!! Returns a good 56kmpl with ease anywhere,no matter what great speed or snail pace I ride in.
Today I drag launched the GS properly for the first time.Shifted and dumped the clutch at 9000rpm,the rear tyre swayed out and in,and the bike tremendously gained speed.....it was an awesome scene.I did it on a small empty stretch outside my house.Neighbours stopped their work and were trying to figure out what I was doing, because I admit,it was sudden

Thank you broOriginally posted by vishnukmd View PostThank you, dear friend. Have no intention to tease you. Read your last postings. Surely you are an expert. A big shake hand.
, but I'm no expert. Just by sticking to forum we can know these things, I'm just re-quoting what other senior members posted
