      Mayur,
Either you have to change the carburator setting to rich mix or use choke in the cold start situations. If you choose the first option you may have to sacrifice few kmts of mileage but its good to increase the life of the engine, for the time being i am just revving the engine in the cold starts for few minutes to get it warmed.

      • hello fellow gspians!!!

this is my first ever post here on Xbph and first i would like to thank all of you guys for helping me decide on this bike!! so thank you
i had read all the posts and most of the web about gs and now i thought it was the right time for me to contribute back

i got my orange black dual beauty(and a beast) 3 weeks ago and have completed 955km with the first dservice done.

i'm a free rever and this bikes loves to be reved hard and long!! ..so the most difficult time for me was during my break in periods.

i had read about the tabooed topic of motomans breakin's and for me that theory did make sens but cause of fear for my bike, i for first 300kms i did not rev more than 5k but made sure all the gears were used properly and engine properly loaded. later i thought it was enough (it was a feel) and started reving the bike slowly to higher rpms and the bike's response is beautiful!!.( i followed my heart and i do not suggest doing this if your not risking the bikes engine)

so by the time her first service(760km) was coming i had topped at 114 with a pillion ( in a good stretch in NICE road) i could have pushed till 120 but decided against it ( there will be speedo error though)

in the service i wanted to experiment with the oil and brought in shell advance 20w40 mineral. i dont find any difference from this to the service oil but its cheaper by 100rs now planning for motul 3000 4t mineral after another 300km.

coming to the milage part well, i fill for rs 100 all the time and for the first few she returned around 58 - 59 but later i'm getting from 47 to 55 . this bike does have a problem with false reserve and i guess this is the reason for milage variations for people measuring r2r

my driving style is to be at around 5k for the first few kms and in the traffic but later trying to get the best from the higher rpms in short bursts and the bike is suited for this and the bike's returns is better than my activa.
the viberations are there sometime but very less compared to the others so acceptable
the breaking part, as discussed is just ok, not the best but the more you ride and get to know the bike and its reactions its not a big problem. the headlights are weak though. once had gone to trip with ZMR and while coming back i had to relay on ZMR'r halogens. but these can be sorted

handeling is ok. for the first few days it was bit tough, changing lanes and all but now i'm comfortable and over takings is a breeze for its weight (thanks to the gear ratio).

the riding position and ergonomics is just awesome!! IMO this is the only 150cc bike where you will feel your sitting inside as compared to other where it's like sitting on it.

so said and done about my gsr i'll update whenever possible
till then happy and safe riding

ps:the best part is the change in the engine's note when it crosses 6.5k it feels its finally woken up!!! and please ride with proper gears if your trying to push your beast to the limits

I used fast trac for last 1600kms, but now i changed back to shell advance mineral.

Gear shifts with fast trac seem a little strange actually, either every gear will be smooth( just one tak and it shifts to next), or all gears will have a tak tak feel while you change which is little rough.. Thats the only funny thing i noticed about the oil, (my friend used the same oil in a suzuki Zeus and got the same effect too).

How did you get the oil for 200 ? its 235 right ?? i usually buy the oil at the bunks itself and they charge MRP for it.

I didn't use it again this time because its 35 bucks more than shell advance and its like the same mineral oil when considering the drain interval.
Right now i'm in search for gulf pride 4t, that oil has a JASO MA 2 standard, as compared to just JASO MA of all other oils, that could be one reason why gears were smoother for akfara while using that oil. (and the longer drain interval is a + point too)

I bought it in a automobile shop

they said Shell Advance S 4T for 180 rupees but on label it was mentioned as 200

Shell Advance Fast Trac 4T for 200 and in the label it was mentioned as 235

i usually buy oil their but this time they don't have motul hence bought shell

But the modes does regulate A/F mixture pattern introduced in the engine.
                It also controls rev limiter.

In ECO mode:the bike has a lot of low-end torque, the sixth gear can be shifted at 4000rpms only in this mode, without the bike feeling wrong.

In PWR mode:some good mid-range torque, fast pick-up like Zma but Top end is lost.

In GOD mode:well I am the boss,I shift it at 8500 rpms when I need to do some very quick 0-100kmph,bike shoots to 120kmph and does the 127kmph with ease.It then feels normal,no or less low end torque, punchy midrange, truckloads of top end power, revs till 10,000rpm with ease, rev limiter then ticks in.Nature is too much like the R15,only on a bit easier and comfortable side.

There is really some mode magic in this bike.

                At,68K,you get,
SJCS-Suzuki Jet Cooling System (advanced air cooled engine)
                6th gear-how many air-cooled 2V 150s have six cogs???
Gear indicator-I think only Suzuki bikes in India have it !!!
                Vibration reducing harness-Superb touring ability.
XTP-the technology emblazoned on the Bandit,Hayabusa,Bking, check them out in flesh to know.
Biggest metal Fuel tank in the 150cc category.

Do you still doubt that the Mode facility is nothing more than a Rpm shift indicator just because this is a 68K bike???? !!!!!!!

few of those features would also be found on the 1Lac+ R15
and most of those features would be found on the 12.5Lac HayaBusa or the 9.5lac Bandit.

First big mistake, full revs on warm-ups screws your engine faster than your insurance depreciates for your vehicle ,its not a joke, its true.
Please, Dont raise throttle to high during warm-up.
Let the bike start and idle for about 30secs followed by two small revs up to 4000rpm and 6000rpms respectively. (then I leave it to idle for a minute)

Second glitch, try kick starting the vehicle for the first time in the morning.

The Third deed of yours is perfect.......it is a good habit.

Please try the suggestions and revert back with honest views,if the bike nature has changed.
