      Oh...good to know second mangalorean
No many of in the community will agree with me that Gsr is doesn't have a silent engine. If you take Unicorn, the sound is near to silent. But Gsr sound is different, and sometimes harsh too but not at the cost of performance. So we both are new owners, lets wait and see. The senior owners have been thoroughly discussing about bilke around 6-7 months back and now they are silent, which may we think their problems are over

Brother I hope you are aware that oil plays vital role in engine performance and that includes noise and smoothness.

Also you may aware that the default svc oil is not good .

Try motul, gulf, or shell or some good brand oil and do let up know how is your steed.

Okay, let me tell the SVC not to change the oil. I will do it outsidewith any mechanic. Now what oil should got for? Has anyone tried golf, motul and having good experience? and when i go to shell petrol pump they ask me whether i want to change the oil? when i enquired they said they have shell ordinary and synthetic...Should i go with them ?

Congrats on your purchase of the GS....its a beautiful bike.Though I wonder why you chose this above Unicorn or Dazzler.
I agree Dazzler's nature is like Extreme, but Unicorn is very similar to GS in everything, only a bit slower.

GSR is a very comfortable bike with truckloads of torque and highly responsive system, and about the nimble character, you only need to get to adapted to the fewer extra Kgs and the handlebar and then you can also make it dance on the roads.Trust me,I switched from a 120kg bike to a 149kg bike and had the same feeling too but now I am very much in line with the way the bike handles.
While it would take lesser time for you to adjust, since you already used a heavy bike.....and then you will have more fun riding it.

This bike is the most silent bike I have ever ridden,so silent that even jaywalkers don't realize a vehicle is coming while they attempt to cross the road,I really have to honk the horns to have their attention, and on seeing this huge thing moving like a submarine towards them, they don't attempt to cross the road.

Mine one is in its 5th month,it becomes smoother with each passing service........it doesn't even shout if I want it to
From day one I knew this engine would never grunt.

I wanted to change my engine oil and went to SC yesterday. The odo reads 1850 km now exactly 1000kmts more from the first service with oil change. I told SC guy that ill bring the oil, he asked me to bring only castrol activ, i told could i try Motul with the same 20W40 grade. But he told each oil is made for different bikes, so castrol activ better suits Gsr. if you change oil, there wont be problem initially but after few years there would be problems mainly in bearings.
So i could not argue with him, finally settled with Castrol Activ. I dont know how far SC guy is true.

                  Try gulf motul or shell
                  Grade should be 20 w40
                  Type mineral.
Till you touch 10k on odo stay with mineral no to synthetic and semi doesnt make big difference except money.

                    • hey when riding in gears 4,5,6 at around 4k to 5k rpm the engine goes dead for a second and then picks up again. This does not happen all the time but i noticed that it started getting more frequent after riding for more than 10km at a stretch.

Other than airlock problem...Most of 2009(not 2010) model have choking problem...means while u drive even with 10ltr petrol u feel that the bike going to hit reserve..but it won't stop but again run smoothly ...I don't think this is not ur case.... CONSULT SC
