regarding knocking sound
I too own 2010 model Gsr. In the cold start if i don't accelerate, then the engine does something like kalak kalak sound then goes off, then i again kick it to start. Any idea? Is it due to leaner mix idling? In normal riding conditions i never faced such knocking sound.
Regarding Mileage
Now my bike has covered around 1800 kmts. am consistently getting 55 plus mileage. I ride between 40-70 the upper end part only during some overtaking. my top speed was 95 only once. So recent few days due to my urgency i had to ride bike between 60-70. Will it affect the engine?sigpic

Yes, the mixture is lean. Either make it rich, or use choke to start the bike at the start of the day.Originally posted by venuvinodks View Postregarding knocking sound

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.

@ animeher,
Thanks friend. I wont make it rich, i want mileage, so will give a bit of acceleration or use choke.
@ cbf150m,
welcome man,
You have chosen a nice colour. In fact all the 4 colours of GSr are good. Its personal choice and the areawise choice too.. for example In dusty places like mangalore, for me i liked grey colour, where black colour loses its glossy look too fast.
Hey seniors...did anybody keep watch on the gsr ownership count here in this community?sigpic

to me it appears as though your idling rpm is too low. Try turning the idling screw a little to increase the idling rpm (when cold) to about 1200-1300rpm.Originally posted by venuvinodks View Postregarding knocking sound

Yes I understand. i shall do some small tweak in carb screw setting...Originally posted by animeher View Postvenuvinodks: Don't be too focused on mileage. GS150R is supposed to be enjoyed in torque. If you go for mileage alone, it is not good for bike too. Leaner engines with load on engine MAY give better mileage, but it's not good for engine.
thanks animeher and srinivas.sigpic

why i am worried about mileage is because, previously i owned suzuki heat 125. i used to play with this carb setting, resulting in a drastic reduction in mileage. so when other friends who own heat were getting 60-65 kmpl, i used to get only 45-50. Even SC people also couldnot help much...thats the reason i focus on mileage.
And i Expect my mileage around 55 in Gsr, not more than that. i think thats reasonable expectation
hope its not a burden on engine.
