I too checked with my dad, he owns automobile spare parts dealer shop, and I saw Castrol DOT3 is dark red.

      • Engine sound

Just completed 4500 km on odo , there is a problem , when acclerating faster engine makes some sound like soft knocking 'thakh thak' , not like when going uphill on higher gear , some body have suggested its tapet sound and can be adjusted and rectified. now what is this tapet, and why is it causing the sound in the new engine.

Got some experience now, the sound is bcos we're accelerating fastly than the engine could reach the speed/rpm (bhp and Nm comes into picture)., Thats why the engine is pushing hard to reach the rpm which produces that sound..
If you gradually raise the throttle that sound doesn't even comes upto 90kmph...
Try to raise the rpm gradually and check if the sound persist, then consult your sc manager/supervisor.. Dont ask them to adjust the tappet until they are convinced with the problem..

My bike is in for the 5th Paid service at 10190kms.. No oil change(changed it some 450kms back), only general service and rear wheel checking/adjustment for a small hum sound comes at lower speeds.. I could able to recall from the older posts that the sound comes from swingarm .. Was it so?

          • @ashoka: Probably the brake fluid on yours is tvs girling. it is clear as water. I've also seen bosch fluids on the market but no idea what colour it is.

@mysti: keeping handlebar straight with bike on level ground, check for fluid level again. if its still below the min mark, then:

            > just top up fluid to 3\4th of the master cylinder(not actually a cylinder but a box in our case) if youre happy with the brake's performance.

            > if not....i.e if you feel bite is going low or brake lever action is spongy, then have the brake bled.

Swing arm , were is it . its comming from engine thats sure , i accelerate gradually only , no rush (sometimes in traffic ), my 3rd service is comming by , lets hope there is no major problem and can be rectified without any major openings.
Humming sound in your case may be tyre pressure or chain . lub the chain well ( Drench with recommended oil) , check tyre pressure.

That swingarm section is regarding my bike....Swingarm is the connecting rod present near the brake at rear wheel...

I used to keep the tyre pressure of 22/25psi at front and 33/35psi at rear..

And I lube the chain regularly at 1000kms interval / whenever it's dry, using a spray type chain lube...

                    For your issues,
Till your 3rd service observe observe observe ... Consult your SC... Ask them to ride your bike.. Get their opinion..

In one or two days it'll get over... Last section does involves connecting the wiring with new RR.. Just thinking which will be the easiest way to explain clearly...

AFAIK Dot 3 is red color and DOT 4 is amber or some brands have colorless fluid.
As the pad wear out the fluid level decreases .
Top it up with correct fluid(Dot 4 as in your case) and you should be good to go.

Sorry for the incorrect statement from me. DOT 3 is red and DOT 4 is colorless.

Either minimize the rate of acceleration or downshift and accelerate as gmagesh said. Poor tappet and AFR screw are the most misused or misunderstood words here.

Probably from the chain. You can hear it clearly if you accelerate the bike to some speed while on centre stand and then engaging neutral gear while the tyre is spinning.
