Congrats , i aggress 2000 kms bounded service interval is too low this should have atleast larger interval after first 3-4 services say 5000-8000 kms and suzuki should offer DC setup kit( on chargeable basis) that can be installed at service center without voiding the warranty , I think we should stop praising the bike too much and pamper ourselves

I ride in bumper to bumper traffic most of the times. But If I take it on the highway, the mileage goes upto 50 Kms. Suzuki has money in marketing not in GS 150 but in Junk Bikes like Sling Shot, Hayte.Originally posted by Vikshe View PostThat's awesome running within 3 years 72 K !!, your FE is low , me gets 750 kms in 13.6 lit (1000 rs petrol), Suzuki doesn't care to market GS 150r and doesn't want to spend money on advertising , this may be the reason cost of bike is low(with all the goodies) inspite of quality it offers.
Suzuki is content with there 4 wheeler counterpart just as Honda is with their 2 wheelers and ignoring 4wheels , its good too , that some lucky mortals to have GS 150r in there backyard , my bike still gets that tiny stares even if parked along with pulsar 200ns , zmr, r15.

Congratulations. Please let us know whichever parts were replaced during this 72,000 kms ride.Originally posted by sarvodaya View PostCompleted 72,000 Golden Kilometers in 33 Months.
That is why a TD bike is not available at many of the showrooms. Some parts of those bikes are sometimes used to replace the faulty parts of bikes received for servicing if spares were not available and the customers were making scenes. You can see that TD bike laying in some corners in the SC. This is a common practice in almost all SCs, whether it is Suzuki’s or some other’s.Originally posted by Vikshe View PostGS is quiet old now since its launch (not as popular though) , so showroom guys may hesitate to offer test ride , will anybody get test ride for pulsar 150/rtr/unicorn easily though for buyer it may be new ride.
Another reason is that the commission for selling GS was and still is lesser that selling a SlingShot or Access. Due to this, the dealers were offering SlingShot or Access to those went in search of GS. This anomaly in the rate of commission was rectified to a certain level when the new model GS was introduced. But still the dealers get more money if they sell a SlingShot or Access.
I was not questioning the logic behind comparing bikes, but comparing or considering 100 to 150 cc bikes and scooters.
Cannot say how Hayate is, but my opinion about SlingShot from my experience is different. It is one of the bikes I like other than GS.Originally posted by sarvodaya View PostSuzuki has money in marketing not in GS 150 but in Junk Bikes like Sling Shot, Hayte.Last edited by punarvasu; 09-27-2012, 11:53 PM.

That's the real point , even dealer admits , selling gs is not as profitable as other models in there portfolio , in fact its least compared to competition in 150cc catagory , had suzuki invested in marketing gs and commissioned higher margins to dealers , this bike would have been expensive (in FZ catagory atleast). Hayate is promising bike looking at price point it is sold , though its in highest competative world of automobiles ie; 100cc's dominated by splendor/passion and newly launched dream yuga which is extremly aggressive marketed. Slingy is a good alternative , again

I rode the Hayate when I went to the SVC for my bike's last service. Since the test ride was in bumper to bumper traffic, where this bike would spend most of it's life, I felt it was quite good in this scenario where 2nd gear is very usable without much snatching. Although the higher gears are too slow to accelerate as they don't rev too high. Slingshot is quite different with it's torquey engine. I would have gotten this bike if my riding was primarily in the city. A 125cc bike priced at a level where many other companies offer basic variants of their 100cc bikes, I'd say it's a steal.Originally posted by Vikshe View PostThat's the real point , even dealer admits , selling gs is not as profitable as other models in there portfolio , in fact its least compared to competition in 150cc catagory , had suzuki invested in marketing gs and commissioned higher margins to dealers , this bike would have been expensive (in FZ catagory atleast). Apart from that, I've been keeping my eyes and ears open about the GW250 Inazuma form Suzuki. Except the laid back styling and Suzuki's tradition of building heavy bikes, this is another bike to watch out for for performance enthusiasts and tourers alike. The pricing of this twin cylinder is expected to be below that of the single cylindered CBR250R. If the fuel prices don't skyrocket too much, this bike will remain on my wishlist. In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

If this is a problem that you face only in the morning, start with the choke turned on and leave it on for a minute after starting the bike.Originally posted by laneracer View PostGuys - I am facing a problem with my GS150R since this morning. Once I start the bike the idle rpm is around 1300-1400 and then the bike switches off. Not sure what the issue is. I am able to start the bike but then the bike just switches off.
What could be the problem? I just want to explore and resolve this problem on my own if feasible. In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Suzuki has definatly priced there products in the block with best quality in there segments , even GS is cheaper in its catagory (and top end's like intuder , hybu , bandit), but lack of outlets and SC's , spares , awarness makes such products inaccessible.Originally posted by vikhyath View PostI rode the Hayate when I went to the SVC for my bike's last service. Twin cylinder 250 cc's from suzi if launched will be priced in the range of ninja or below and not cbr, it is likely to be imported.

Hi All,
I have booked a new GS 150 R (Black)... expecting delivery on 9th Oct 2012.
Few things which I noticed while at showroom:
> New 2012 Version has Bybre Disc Brakes
> New Headlight. Is this a DC one? Any idea on the Light Output from the new headlight?
> Front Telescopic Suspension without the protector skin (Is there a change between the old and new in terms of performance)
> No Mention of Balancer Technology (May be they are tired of telling it...
)
I hope that it would be a perfect replacement for my Unicorn.Live and Let Live >>>

> Tank Cover ( Which I might not use)
> Saree Guard
> Crash Guard
> Seat Cover ( I dont know on why they are giving this as I dont find any use for it)
> Teflon Coating
> Handle GripsLive and Let Live >>>

Headlight, as in most other bikes is on AC. But some of us have converted the bike to full DC though it makes the warranty on electrical parts void.
The engine balancer system which makes GS vibration free at any high speed is still there. So the bike moves without vibration, even at 120 or more kmh speed.
And GS150R, without any doubt, is the best bike in the 150 cc segment.
Among these, saree guard and crash guard is useful. Accept the Teflon coating offer if it free as it is a polishing with buffing machine which provides good shining.Originally posted by @KinZ View PostI have booked in Aryan Motors in Bangalore. After that, buy a good car wash and wax polish.Last edited by punarvasu; 09-29-2012, 08:56 PM.

Hi, I have just bought a GS150R 22 days back, For the first service still 8 days are left. Till now I have clocked around 550 Km in Odometer. For the first 450 km I kept the rpm below 5000, but today morning I went on road-trip drove the bike in pwr mode crossed 5000 RPM barrier and reached the speed of 108 Km at 6500-7000 RPM. After coming back I checked the user manuals it says for 500KM RPM should be below 5000RPM. Can someone please tell me what bad impact it will do on bike and should I ask for something specific needs to be done when I go for first service.
Please help me guys as I am new to bike driving and dont know much about all this.
Thanks

you r wrong again, first 800 kms or 500 miles must be ridden below 5000 RPM( pl read the manual again) .
Riding the bike in pwr or eco mode doesnt make any difference as its only an indicator. As you new to bike driving change it to Eco mode and shift gears with blink of the light at 4500 rpm or with the sound of the engine. Engage all the gears.
Wat ever happened is happened so dont worry about it. manufacturers would have considered factor of safety. remember to read the manual again.
I would suggest you to change the engine oil and oil filter during first service, even if it has gone less than 1000 kms.
Enjoy your bike and ride!!
plz follow respective colors for ansLast edited by newfan; 09-30-2012, 04:35 PM.

Welcome.Originally posted by [email protected] View PostI have just bought a GS150R 22 days back, For the first service still 8 days are left.
Once going beyond 5000 rpm makes no problem; I correctly guess but better keep below 5000 rpm for the first 800 kms and 7500 rpm for the next 800 kms.
At 108 kmh speed, the engine revs at about 8000 rpm; not 6500-7000.

Don't look at the RPM or speedo console while driving at triple digit speed, and i know you do not risk your life to authenticate punarvasu's claim on what speed @ what rpm coz we all are common man driving on uncommon Indian roads with lovable family waiting for you at homeOriginally posted by punarvasu View PostWelcome.
