    Hi guys,

Logging in after quite a while. Was away from my bike and country for a while. Now I am back to biking

I have just completed my 9th Free service from Apple auto(DG petrol bunk) and I would say they are becoming more and more ignorant and slightly arrogant day by day!!

First of all if we try to book for service at minimum they will give a date 20 days from now.
Else if we give the bike without booking they had taken 3 days to do a free service !!!!
I went with 2nd method and was there at the service station as early as 7:50 AM( if we go at 8:15 or so, there will be 20 + vehicles and there is a chance that they might not even take it for servicing). This is my usual routine and at usually I will be the 2nd or 3rd person.
But to my horror this time even at this early morning there were 15 vehicles were waiting before me(needless to say all are Access). They took my bike for servicing and after 3 days I received it!!
Also 9th is supposed to be free service but they mentioned it as Paid and added 300 INR more. Later they corrected the bill.

Suzuki seriously need to up their servicing bay capacity as their scooter deliveries are very very strong and they do not have the infra to provide proper servicing!!

BTW for me they charged 231 INR for oil and 240 for air filter during servicing.

Posting here after long time I have done 15k now.

I too give for service at apple (DG petrol bunk). Done all 12 servicing there. Before it was 7 days prior booking. Now for Bikes, there is no booking. It is FCFS basis for that particular day. Usually i reach there by 8.20 and i will be 5th or 6th person in the queue, and i get same day return. This was the case till just a month back when i gave for service. But like you said, things might have worsened now.

I clearly say during every service i don't need oil ( i do it myself). This time also i have said and it was written in job sheet. However i was billed for oil , so i enquired with the same supervisor who was handling my bike. He started argueing with the mechanic and both ended up shouting abusing each other so loud that i had to intervene and settle the matter there. The mechanic offered to pay for the oil but i paid for it. The mistake might be the mechanic'c but there is no coordination btw these guys, i had to pay for it.

The previous oil was shell semi syn which run for only 200kms . I am planning not to give the bike to these jokers.

I have negative experiences about this SVC too. They never deliver the bikes by the promised date, they always meddle with the AFR/Idling screw, Never listen to my complaints with genuine interest. I have been complaining about hard gear shifts since my bikes 1st service and they still want me to believe that it will smoothen out with time. It hasn't shown any improvement.

One thing they do very well is waterwash. It's better than the local workshop, certainly worth the Rs. 50 they charge.

I have had bad experience with Apple auto. So I prefer Aryan Suzuki at Varthur road or Aerolux. Aryan is good and.Aerolux is exceptional. But you need to book 10 days in advance for Aerolux.

Coming back to this thread after a long time. My 2012 gs150r has clocked nearly 4200 km and finished officially 4th service (3rd service in reality). I was late for 2nd service, so as days had elapsed, they took 3rd service coupon instead of 2nd. Anyway, i was having problem of hard gear shifts from day 1. I took this hard gear-shift problem to Aryan suzuki showroom guys, but they said gear shift will be hard in new bike and asked me to ride as is. After first service at 790 km, the bike engine became smooth, but the hard gear shifts remained. Second service was done at around 1700 km. I did my first two services at Aryan suzuki, old airport road, bangalore. I complained about hard gears during service, but they only adjusted clutch cable and said it will smoothen as it runs more km on odo.

Once i am slotted in a gear, the bike is smooth and vibration-free. The engine kept becoming smoother. But the hard gear shifts continued and kept getting worse. The gears would sometimes refuse to change. I had to accelerate, ride some 20 meters, and try gear shifting again. I was not happy with the service i got at Aryan suzuki. They only did water wash and oil change, and they even overtightened my chain which resulted in partially worn sprocket.

Meanwhile, i rode my friend's Gs150r and found the gears to be really smooth.

I decided to get 3rd service done at Value suzuki, vasanthnagar, bangalore. I again took up this hard gears problem at 3rd service with 3900 km on odo. Again, during service, nothing was done, except waterwash and oil change. Meanwhile in the next 2 days after service the hard gear shift problem kept getting worse.

Two days after 3rd service, I went back to value suzuki and complained that they have not done anything about the hard gears during service. This time, they directed me to one Mr. Shabeer. He put the bike on center stand, started it, and changed gears. He immediately acknowledged there was a problem and said some part in clutch assembly could be broken or loose. He asked me to leave bike for 1 day. I collected bike next day, and guess what, the hard gear shift problem was resolved. Service guys said they had changed some part in the clutch assembly. The repair was done free of cost under warranty.

One important thing i learned from this. Guys who do regular service are not mechanics; they do only waterwash, oil change, chain adjustment, and wax polish. They dont do any real technical repairs. No repairs are done during regular service.

If you want any repairs to be done, take it up in between regular service. The guys who do non-regular service are the real mechanics.

Now, i am really angry with Aryan Suzuki. They never acknowledged that there was a problem with the gears, and i ended up riding the bike for 4000 km with hard gears. Hope i have not damaged the gears by this.

So, if any of you is going to buy this bike, please ride it and check for hard gears. If the gears are too hard to change, select another bike from the lot.
Oops. I just posted the above message, and the very next day my gs150r returned back to its original hard gear shifts condition. The repairs they did at value suzuki to achieve smooth gear shifts did not last even 1 week. As of now, i have left my bike again at value suzuki to rectify the hard gear shifts problem. This time they said it could need major repairs and could take 4 days. My bike is just nearing 4200 km on odo and such major repairs are needed.

I purchased a new bike so that i could have trouble-free usage, but unfortunately my gs150r needs repairs so early. Seems like i picked a defective gs150r from the lot. I am feeling really bad now. I feel some untrained people are assembling the clutch at suzuki factory; hence, some gs150r are suffering from hard gear shifts, but other gs150rs have smooth gear shifts.

Also, two of my friends have purchased this gs150r on my recomendation. I only hope their bikes run smoothly without needing any repairs.

              Hi Vikyath,

If you report hard gear shifts during regular service, nothing will be done. Report the hard gear shifts in the interval between regular service. The hard gear shifts will not smoothen. It will only worsen with time, and it worsens pretty rapidly.

I even tried reporting it in between services too, but was no use with Apple. Will have to try other options next time.

Take it once to the Aerolux motors in KH road once. These guys are very good and will fix the bike. Don't worry. Picking a defective GS is next to impossible.

                    Hi Harish,

What was the work they did on your bike to correct the problem?

Mine had hard gear shifts. After first service at apple auto mileage had dropped to less than 45. The idiots there were convincing me that max mileage this bike will give is 45 as it is a "heavy high-speed vehicle " . As for the gear shifts the idiots were saying it 'll get smoother after a few thousand KM. They had no idea why both of this happened after first service with them and were not ready to accept my part of the story.

So I took the bike to Aerolux and both of this got fixed in a single service. Mileage was back to 55 and then my riding style changed bringing it back to 45

As for the gear shifting, it's butter smooth ever since.

Kindly find my response above buddy.

Guys two questions. Do you change the engine oil every 2000 KM? I just noticed in my service bills that they have.changed it every 2000 KM. Isn't the adviced one 4000?

Also which oil is generally used? One of my friend got his GS serviced at Apple and they used Veedol engine oil like we drive some truck! any ideas?

Harish, could you take some effort to get the details from the Aerolux engineer about what changes he had made to clutch assembly or so to resolve the shifting problem..
So that it'll help people here who are facing the same issues.

My GS is also getting the same fever nowadays. I did some adjustment to the clutch, will update the result after the testing is over.

Happy Diwali to every GS buddies.

                          • Ordinary 20w-40 oil(do they use shell?) cost was 362/- for a litre and filter was 37/- (so cheap ?).

Sorry, I mixed the numbers up. It was 262/- for the oil.

the oil they use is castrol mineral..please don't remove the tank cover, though it spoils the looks, it helps in not letting the water inside the tank when it rains..i too installed the tank cover yesterday only..i stay in mandaveli..i own a white gs...where do u stay bro?
I think aircraft-type fuel lid is one of the sportier elements of GS - With the tank cover on , my GS now looks like an Unicorn . I think I will let it stay for now even though many told me it will scratch the tank in the long run. I stay in Adyar. Good to know you have a white GS too.

                            Front Disc Brake Problem?

I asked the person filling the job card that the front disc is rusting and occasionally made a rumbling sound. He wrote "Disc check " on the card. After delivery, everything went fine for another 20-30 kms and now my front disc makes a very faint " squeak squeak squeak" sound( can be noticed with the engine switched off and moving the motorcycle front or back).

Also, the disc makes a rumbling sound whenever the front brake is used and the speed approaches 25-20 kph (Like say stopping at a signal). Are the pads glazed or is this something normal ? There is however, no perceptible loss in braking power.

                            cheers

                              Hi,

The noise in the front disc can be caused by 2 things.
First, it could be dist stuck between the brake pads and the disc, the sound would go away if you use some blower or spray water (with a lot of force) in the gap between the disc and brake pads.
The second reason is that your disc is slightly bent so it makes contact with the pads at a particular point when it is rotating.
The only solution to that is changing the disc. (it costs approx 1500).

My bike has the second problem, but since it doesnt cause too much deceleration or anything i've just left it as it is for now.

Happy Diwali to all xbhp members.

I was never satisfied with the gears from the day one, i thought; let me ride the bike for 1k-3k and check - No change.
But almost for the past one month i had a severe Hard Gear shifting problem. I had to literally step on the shifter for Up or Down shifting the gears.
Tried with three visits to Service centre, adjust clutch cable setting and chain slackness is all what the "mechanic" does and no considerable change.
During my last third visit, mechanic says that all the GS are like that so nothing much to do. This p*ssed me off and i posted a complaint on Suzuki website.
Next day i received a call from "Supervisor" of a Service centre and he asked me to get the bike for testing.
Took the bike on saturday and he promised to give back to me by evening. He calls me at 3PM and mentions that he wants to show it to Company engineer
who is coming after three months and can give the bike by monday. I agreed upon the same.
Monday, he tells me that the company engineers have suggested to replace certain parts and not sure on the full list and agreed to share the same during delivery of the bike.
To get the spares, he will need 4 days.
I took back the bike and left for problem rectification on monday. Took the bike back at 5PM. No one is revealing the list of spares replaced.
However saw a small 7 inch cube box with oil strains and sealed with brown tape. He wrote the Job number on it infront of me. I saw a note on the job closure form, replaced all clutch related parts as advised by SMIPL.

I am planning to get the list from the SC/company when they call me back for closure/feedback of the case.
Outcome: Gears shift is damn smooth. I am satisfied .
I am posting this story thinking it might help someone who is not getting their bike's problems rectified by SC. Suzuki promptly attends the complaints posted on their website.
Thanks to many on xBHP who helped me with this suggestion.

This is was my story few months back, 4000kms is the max you should wait to think that the gears shift should settle down else ry to go through SVCs as you guys have already done. When you don't ge the expected results, report it to Suzuki and next day you will surely receive a call from SVC supervisor(they take it very seriously).

Place your complaints in feedback section.

I have been there with that hard gear shift problem. Don't take anyone's words that it will become smooth after some more thousand kms.
