    Hi, welcome to the club. Next time, insist that you are allowed to see what they r doing. It is common during rains to get squeals from drum breaks. The rear brake of a new gs gives very many problems to begin with. It is the norm. It will ease out but you need to ignore it and ride on for 2000 kms please.

      Hai everyone.. I am facing yet another problem. My stock clutch cable got rusted too soon (6000km). so my clutch was very tough and it was hard for ma hand to press the clutch lever especially in traffic conditions. Whenever i informed the SVC, they simply apply some oil and give me. 2-3 days later, the same problem appears yet again... it was becoming a headache to change gears because of this stiff clutch lever. So i bought a new clutch cable from the SVC and installed it on my bike.. Though it was quite comfortable for a week..now again it is very stiff and gear shifts are getting hard again.. The cable is new so no rust...and just to play safe..i applied some oil on the cable...yet it is stiff...can anyone tell me what the problem might be and how to rectify...?

        Even I am facing the same issue with the clutch wire, its my third clutch wire in just an year. The problem I think is because the clutch wire is not covered near the engine which allows dust and moisture to sweep in easily causing this trouble. Many other bikes have totally covered clutch wires which lasts longer than this.

          Ok... sad to hear that this problem cant be rectified...its getting really hard for shifting gears. During rains i cant press the clutch lever coz its so stiff that it slips from my hand..! even though its just a week old. Anyway Thank you for the immediate reply....Thanks a bunch bro

            hi guys...!!! Got my orange "Charizard"!!! That's how I am gonna call it. Ride quality is awesome. Comfort is awesomer!!! Enjoying it right Now... Pics will come up tomorrow..

            As for initial impression, here it is: -

            The bike is butter smooth. Gearbox is little clunky... I expect it to smoothen out after first service. Suspension set-up is spot on. The bike pulls very neatly. Right now, not going above 4k RPM... but gave pot-shots till 6k RPM.. and the bike surged powerfully!!!

            Brakes are powerful enough. I got a taste of them very soon... It had just rained heavily and I took the delivery just some 15 minutes back. While returning home, as I was crossing a junction, a moron suddenly decided to cut across from the extreme left of the road and take a U-Turn... Imagine my horror..!!! Brand New Bike delivered a few minutes ago... and this idiot just cut across!!!! I cut the throttle, and clung on to the brakes!!! The bike skidded and fishtailed but I controlled it. Thanks to my extensive reading of the forum, I remembered to modulate between the front and rear brakes and never lost my control... The brakes are sharp... very sharp...

            Now for the comfort part, the seat is pretty wide and accommodating. I am 6'1" and never felt any kind of pain anywhere in my body. Will go for long drive tomorrow and decide more on this. The bike is quite tall. My dad is 5'10" and had to balance the bike on toes. For me, it was perfect. Pillion seat is spacious and comfortable, as my mom observed and also, very tall for her.

            Sorry guys... no pics for today. Will Post them tomorrow morning.

                  Our clutch cable is factory lubed – i.e. it is in a Teflon sleeve inside the outer cover – for its entire life. Lubing it further with oil or grease affects it adversely. Hence, never lube it with oil or grease.

                  Get the cable tightened properly at the SC and apply a little grease on its both naked ends as shown it the manual and that is enough.

                  Mine is 33k kms pol now.

                  Hearty welcome to our family.

                  Be cautious while applying rear brake as almost the total weight is transferred to the front tire when braking. While braking, the rear tire losses road grip and there is a possibility of its locking and skidding. So, learn to use front brake.

                  A 178 cm (5’10”) man can sit comfortably on our bike with both feet on road. Ask your father to sit at the centre of the rider’s seat.

                  I have escaped many times with the stock tires and crashed once while braking on a gravel road. Even a soft compound tire skids if braked on such roads. My tires are 33k kms old now and – at least for me – are most trustable.

                    Thenzappers on the rear end have excellentngrip while cornering on any road and on straight line on dry roads. Straight line on wet roads is horrible. If you dont mind the cost you may change to the new mrf mogrips or ty the old nylogrip plus. Both r equally good on all surfaces,

                      Hi Umesh,

                      Tires also should run-in like your bike. They need some Kms to settle in. Stock tires are awesome. Mrf Zapper is relaiable and is promising even after 34K kms.

                      My suggestion for your is to "Wait".

                          I cut the clutch cable and removed the cable from the clutch sleeve.

                          Then I purchased a Bajaj auto Gear cable which is very long and comes with a length adjustable screw-adapter. Now I can fine tune the clutch lever tension to the precise extent and get smoother gear shifting. Also, I insert the cable into the sleeve after applying some grease on it and it is free movement

                            Seems like a nice trick, though it would be better if we can simply somehow place a cover on the naked part of the wire near the engine.

                            Good to know about the internals of the wire, though the grease applied wears off in a day or two of long drives, so I would prefer some permanent solution instead like Rajeshbw has mentioned above. Still there's always a new clutch wire lying around in my backpack all the time since I've been driving a lot lately. So no worries about the clutch wire and I would say, anyone who uses this bike for long commutes should carry one with him/her.

                              Type of cables of auto and most of the bikes are different. The auto’s like cables need frequent lubing with oil or grease but not bike’s as the Teflon sleeve inside the outer cable is for lubrication. If oil or grease is applied on this kind of cables, it breaks.

                              The major cause of frequent cable breakage of GS is applying this additional lubricant. Some of the SC mechanics too are doing it forgetting what Suzuki taught in them in training classes.

                              Remember that there is no mentioning about cable lubing in the user’s manual or list of periodic maintenance works in it.

                              What kind of cable we are using is not at all relevant if it functions well and is convenient.

                              That is not correct. The grease or oil applied remains there for longer times collecting dust and does not wear away until you clean it.
                              Do not lube the cable when you replace the outer and inner cables next time. That is the only solution for it. The clutch cable does not get rusted as many of us think. Apply a little grease occasionally at both ends of it and lasting for at least 33,000 kms is guaranteed.

                              33,000 kms old cable going through its 4th monsoon. No rust or dust; clean.
