Yes it is very good oil you can trust I am using 20w40 for my gs I have completed 48k 28 months

Hi, this is windy season so speed tests are not onky dangerous but may not give accurate results.

Having said that, I wss able to hit 105 yesterday on the ecity elevated highway. The bike cud have gone fsster but I felt nervous due to the wind and slowedd down.

I was able to hit 105 at 7500 rpm.

In which RPM's did you shift in every gear?

May be. This one is with me for the last 20 or more months. I have tried it twice or thrice and it cleans everything except oil, grease, mud, dust and other dirt! Totally disappointing.

The reason is as simple as this: This is a trustable, no problem bike.

The stock bulb itself is Philips German 35-35 watts. Do not expect any significant increase in light from any bulb of the same wattage. Any claim having 30 or 100% increase in light is a marketing gimmick. The easiest solution for poor light is converting the bike to full DC and fitting 55/60 watts Osram or Philips bulb.

The maximum I have reached is 110 kmh. The gear ratios of the new GS are slightly different to provide better pickup but you can reach 110 kmh at 8000 rpm easily.

Always remember that speed thrills but kills.

there are multiple factors affecting your bikes speed.. important things being the opposite wind, Air pressure etc. .The bike can easily touch 110 kms.. but you must be careful and try that only if you have straight comfortable road with lesser traffic. on straight roads my best is also 110 or 111. But touched 115 in a slope.

Better to shift gears when the rpm is between 3000 - 4500.

If you want to touch the higher speeds quickly like in a drag race, only then change the gears at higher rpms of 7000's . But it is suggested not to do that on normal drives as it makes the engine hot and that the petrol consumption is very high. Afterall , maximum risk too .. Always drive safe in normal speeds.

                            My GS Status::

                            PURCHASE DATE : OCT'2011
                            COLOUR : PEARL NEBULAR BLACK
                            Kms RIDDEN : 31,245 kms
                            FUEL EFFICIENCY : 55kmpl
                            Total Services Done : 9

Stopped visiting service center after 9th service[@18,500kms], and myself doing the periodic maintenance ie. just changing the oil,oil filter & air cleaner at required intervals, lubricating the chain & at times, washing.

Nothing more than this is required for this bike if no modification were done to its heart.

Currently at 31245kms, [Incidentally all nos from 1-5 are present] Took it just now, after reaching home...

                            Regarding Spares availability:

As mentioned earlier by fellow members, oil filter, air cleaner, chain & sprocket sets are the general items required for this bike. And these are readily availble in all the SC. Things like foot pegs, grippers, headlight stay assembly & saree guard were required for my bike when I'd an accident.. I got them very easily.

Things I've changed in my bike.,

                            • Stock headlights replaced by brighter Philips Xtreme Vision 55/60w with much needed DC setup.
                            • Chain sprocket set at 24,500 kms.
                            • Rear tyres were changed to Michellin M45. Its aesthetic & function are better compared to the stock MRF.. Just because of this Michellin M45 I was forced to change the Chain & Sprocket set in my bike too early @24.5k kms. It's heavier than the stock MRF's and put some load on the initial pickup.. Only the front sprocket worn out, but I decided to change the whole set to avoid any change in bike driveability..
                            • Front Disc pads , brake hydraulic oil , rear brake shoes were replaced once.
                            • Sparked by NGK Iridiums.

Couple of months back, I topped up the battery water level. Got distalled water from a local battery dealer, I was clueless that they might fill acid in the distilled water [They might have kept it for new batteries] . Without knowing it I topped up the water, now the battery lost it's life, three of the cells loses the water level quickly. No, there is no leak in the battery. Looks like now I've to balance the acid & water level in all the cells.

To me this is the best purchase I've ever made., it satisfied my need for a bike, especially for my work...

Keep up the spirit of driving & drive safe. Enjoy GS.

                            Ride with Pride.

                              Hi Sunny,

Yes, empty roads always are always irresistible .

I am not so technical to describe the factors affecting the speed ;-) Trying to learn from this thread.. Anyhow, one day I wanted to try how much the bike can pull. Shifted to PWR mode and then shifted gears around 5000-6000 RPM. I laid on tank, Solo ride, it pulled till 120 kmph, plain road. I felt it had little bit more power, but I didn't want to risk it. I tried in an empty road on a Sunday morning.

That's it. After that, I am riding only at safer speeds. So, please don't try...!!!!! Just wanted to pass the information on how much the bike can go.

                              Always wear helmet. Ride safe!

                              Regards,

I ride GS 150r fitted with K&N air filter and a bigger main jet. If you want economy then it is better to shift gear in 4000 to 4500 RPM range. When I race with my friends on a EMPTY ROAD (ZERO TRAFFIC 500 METERS OF STRAIGHT ROAD) I change gears at 10000 RPM Mark, I reach 98 -100 KMPH with enough distance to stop safely.
