It is already 72K+ only... Suzuki is currently giving a 2000 discount and I got another 500 from the showroom... thats how it rounded off to 69k+

I have a doubt (could be very silly!!!), but I am not very well versed with bikes... When I used to drive splender/ unicorn it could maneuver the vehicle in 2nd gear... unless the vehicle stops... I mean I could keep driving in 2nd gear even if the speed is 3-4 km/hr. I have only come down to 1st gear when I stop for signal etc....
But, when I am driving my GS, I noticed I am not able to do that.... I have to change to 1st the minute the speed comes to 8 or 7Kms/hr itself.... The bike got off thrice initially during my first drive (the first three speed breakers) , then I started moving to 1st gear when the speed is around 10 and starts going down.... (F.Y.I. I had my wife also behind me...).still don't understand the logic.

Please let me know if this is normal in heavier bikes or I am missing something....

    Thanks in advance!!!!
    Hi Baala,

Previously was used splendor and RX 100
Even I had a lot of difficulty while handling this monster kid on traffic jams but with in a month practice its damn good

We can even start GS150R on 3rd gear n keep moving the vehicle with out using the 1st gear But that's not the advisable / good way using clutch extensively means low mileage as well as cause wear on clutch plate and few other parts

Till reaching 12 kmph or 3800 rpm I will stay on 1st gear From 12 to 18 2nd gear
better to be on 3rd gear till you reach 27. 30 to 40 kmph on 4th gear will give u the cruise feel at low speed

After 40 we can move to 5th once u feel we can keep going at constant.

Speed. Above 45 or 50 switch to 6th gear for the cruising pleasure

Even we can drive on 5th gear @ 20 Kmph but that doesn't works well for new users especially in Bangalore traffic

Today i was stuck in traffic at ulsoor for about 15-20 mins. Due to constant holding of clutch down i left hand thumb is paining badly. Is there any solution for this.

After the last service(2nd), i found clutch felt little different. I had to leave it more extent to engage in drive. Supervisor told me they have tuned it that way to avoid clutch plate wear. Any comments.
Visit the Dealer service point and got the Clutch leaver adjusted
I don't think the Clutch leaver adjustment will cause much damage to Clutch plate

@ Chennai GS150R Owners: I can see lot of people getting their steeds, Congrats guys. Why don't the chennai gs owners meet up ? Imagine when a group of gs150r in one place . Any owner from chennai should know where to post the meet-up plan.

Ps: Just an idea from my side & am not a gs150r owner.

        • Owned - Suzuki GS150R

Last week i had test drove the suzuki GS150R and fell in love with it, the only service station is 40kms from where i reside, but it did not prevent me from going for this bike. The engine was so refined and gearbox, butter smooth.

          April 12 2010 1:20 pm

I call my wife, say the money is ready for the bike, she says ok, lets get the bike. I called the showroom in pallavaram, and asked for Black color, they told that its not available, but they have all other colors. I gave my number and called SMK motors in velachery, the sales person told that one Black color Gs is available. I ask him to block it for me, and ask for the required documents and photos for paperwork, i also check with him whether i would be able to take the delivery today, he assures me yes, i had to ask because i was about to travel 50kms from chengalpet to guindy. I call again and check whether they have the black color for sure, the sales person assures me that they have it.

          April 12 2010 2:05 pm

Armed with Helmet, food and diapers for my kid, Reached chengalpet station, got two tickets to guindy and settled in the train along with my one year old son. He has his food and dozes off, and i am impatiently waiting for the train to reach Guindy.

          April 12 2010 3:30 pm

I call the suzuki sales person and inform that i have reached St.Thomas Mount, he promises me to send a person to the station to show me the route. I thank him and get down at Guindy. I see the sales person and he arranges an auto, the showroom is just opposite to the old VST motors in Velachery main road, Guindy.

          April 12 2010 4:00 pm

I am being shown the bike and my kid is having a gala time inside the showroom, pulling out the levers of the bikes and enjoying the AC. I told that i have to go to ATM to withdraw the cash, so i leave my kid and wifey at the showroom and ask a mechanic to accompany me till vijayanagar ATM, i also get to drive my vehicle to check for any issues. I took a torch in handy to check the infamous RUST, i was assured that new batches are rust-free. Rode the bike and the drive was a pleasant breeze. Returned from the ATM with cash.

          April 12 2010 4:45 pm

The OTR price of the bike is 69300. I opt for Seat Cover, Indicator Buzzer and Hand grip. That costs 350 Rs and affidavit charges of Rs 500. So it totally worked around 70,150Rs. I was offered free insurance, so discounted Rs 1300 and it came to 68,850 Rs/ They offered complimentary fuel of 1 liter, i told them that the reserve tank itself will hold 3.5 liters and they politely smiled and said this is what they can offer. Agreed and paid the money and received the invoice.

          April 12 2010 5:15 pm

The accessories were being installed and bike was being polished, they showed me how to control the odometer console. We were getting hungry and visited a nearby Juice shop. My kid was happy at the sight of the juice.

          April 12 2010 5:45 pm

Got the delivery challan. I am planning to get a paid number and i will be out of town for a week, hence i was asked to come on 19th April to get the number, which also happens to be my birthday, i feel good already . Started the bike, went to the nearest fuel station, and filled the tank, the service station guy accompanies to fill his complimentary petrol. The tank held almost 17 liters, i was shocked, because AFAIK the tank capacity claimed was only 15.5 liters. I asked the service guy, and he assured me that its the norm. I am confused.

I start the ride back home and the drive is a breeze, i feel like i am driving through the wind.

I shall post more about the bike and ride quality later.

          • Hearty congrats on the bike man!
I loved the way you described the delivery procedure. Don't worry, the fuel tank capacity is stated upto the filler cap, not upto the brim, so 1 or 2 litres extra can be accomodated. Now we would like to see pics, one with your baby sitting on the bike too!

P.S. My birthday is also on April 19th!

Hi Amul!!! Congrats Man!!! Welcome aboard the elite club..... I am also a newbie here!!!

Hope you enjoyed your ride back to Chengalpet....Please do write about it.

@ Madhu: Thanks Mate!!! I kept in mind what you said about the speed vs gear.... It did help a lot today morning when I went till Cunningham Road to drop my wife.... What a heck of a traffic.

                ========================

Something irritating happened today, I left my wife and on the way back.... I stopped at Airport Road showroom and had my registration number pasted...On the way, I was near a gully near Shanthi Sagar, I got a call from my office...so stopped the vehicle in a corner of the road and was talking to my boss and was walking on the platform...

Suddenly heard some commotion.... when I turned back.... I was shocked to see the towing vehicle was there and those guys were just taking my bike near the lorry.....I ran to them and requested them and requested them that it is just 2 days old ... they asked me to speak to the inspector...(it was still on the road). That arrogant bastard asked me to pay 300 and show him the license....

I told him the vehicle is still on the road and I was just beside it and stopped it for making a call......Saying this I turned back to see they had already lifted it and to my horror half my bike was hanging outside the lorry and it was standing on the front wheel and the side stand part of the bike...... The goondas doing this awesome public service didnot even bother to my cries that it is just a 2 day old baby ......

By then the vehicle started and this bastard asked me to come to the next street to pay....I requested him to stop and take the money there itself...by then they went off.... so I ran behind the lorry .... gave him the money and license......When they were trying to get my bike back.... I realised something was wrong with the side stand - the spring was gone .....I shouted at those guys.....nobody even bothered ......

I took the bike back to showroom, requested them to check if something else has conked off.... they checked and told me everything else is fine and changed the spring for me.....

The sight of the bike hanging from the toe vehicle is still in my eyes ..... I am not able to eat also....

Learnt a lesson a very hard way..... I will be triply careful before I park my vehicle anywhere.....It is better to stay away from these money eating @#$%ers!!!!

(sorry about the bad words guys.....I wanted to vent out my anger and also warn our friend here to be careful!!!)

                Feeling a bit relieved now!!!

Even in area's like whitefield and KR Puram Its happening

They played this only with two wheelers not with the white cars

                    • Sorry to hear about the incident Baala. Feel lucky that only the side stand spring was gone. I have seen some vehicles being towed from No Parking areas here&the cops literally dragged the vehicles on the footpath&threw them onto the road You can imagine the kind of damage.

                        • +1, Never leave your bike on roads, the towing vehicle will sneak from the bike and doesn't even think twice about damaging your vehicle just for a few hundred bucks. BTW I thought no parking fine was some 100rs and not 300rs.

I have learnt to be shameless, and try to sit on the bike even if the guys are pushing/picking it up. They can't touch you I even do shopping from sitting on the bike, wonder why u left the bike just for talking on phone! Were you worrying your bike may overhear you

Relax, and let go, don't take too much tension about it. Its a small stuff, thank god that major stuff didn't happen!

EDIT: WOw akfara, these look great! How much? Do you need to convert the bike to DC?
