True. DON'T put leds without DC. And its a damn simple job, just cutting pasting a wire. Simple for any bike technician. SC is obviously going to scare you if you mention any mods. Go ahead and do it. Someone here did this pilot lamp AC to DC conversion in only 20rs!Originally posted by Anupdas View Post@ Falcon
Once animeher stated that LED's can be fitted directly to AC without adding any resistor as done by akfara
. The LED will still glow, though they will flicker
. Initially I thought LED's will work only in DC. Most of the bikes have very similar electricals for the ease of getting spares
. So there is high probability of getting a direct fit one

hey guys one of my friend is planning to purchase a GS150R, he is speculating that theres some sound coming from the engine after some days and he has other general doubts like milage quality of the gear box, and long term performance of the bike and all, can any of you clarify the things so that he can decide on the bike....All the wise men of the world are called wise only after they spoke their mind, so dont keep the ideas to yourselves!

No sound comes from the engine at all if the run-in is done well.I often get anxious because of a reason contrary.......this Bike's engine is almost without any noise, doesnt feel like it is on till 5000rpm,after that a natural sweet whirring sound settles till 7000rpms,after that as it nears 9000rpms a snarling sound. This bike is equipped with SJCS,so a whistle or a purry sound may come, but thats not from the engine..........it feels no different from the old Karizmas, just takes some time for the rider to get settled in.Originally posted by rakesh_zmr View Posthey guys one of my friend is planning to purchase a GS150R, he is speculating that theres some sound coming from the engine after some days and he has other general doubts like milage quality of the gear box, and long term performance of the bike and all, can any of you clarify the things so that he can decide on the bike....
Mileage as far as this bike goes is 55kmpl-on road.If you use mode advantage, you end up extracting 58kmpl.Rash driving or Power mode delivers mileage in vicinity of 47-50kmpl.
Gear box is on the harder side till first oil change, but precise. After the oil change, its gear shift is at par with the Honda Unicorn. Now this bike has heel and toe shifter,so it again takes time for the rider to settle in.
As per performance,it is one of the fast 150ccs,acceleration in PWR mode similar to old ZMAs,has got a sixth gear.......revving till 8500 or 9000rpm in this gear imparts a top speed of around 122kmph.Power delivery is linear and the bike is a butter to ride in any rpms, its totally smooth and without vibrations even close to 9000rpms.
Handling is at par with the Unicorn, with 5 step dual Gas charged shocker system. This bike really has one of the best CG mass bias in the industry, which attributes in the way it handles.Straight line stability is the thing that gets noticed more.Brakes are the best, front disc set up does its job neatly without bringing the heart to your mouth.Rear drum brakes are normal....not too good, neither too bad.
Suzuki engines are known all over for its robust and tough nature,so no doubt about the long term benefits of the engine and the clutch plate.Small glitches are found even on R1s and Harleys.........but thats it.
Hence I think, this was of help

Guys,
Today left my bike for 4th free service in ABT nandanam,Chennai. There were lot of rush and i went at 9 so he literally said its not possible to give back the bike 2row also. so wait till monday and get it.
But i thought correcting all issues so said ok...
the list are,
1. My battery leaks and it makes the parts rust (like chain guard) so he agreed to replace the battery
2. He also agreed to replace the RR unit to CA series
3. Engine Tappet noise. He will correct it.
4. Cold starting trouble.
Finally he asked me for Teflon coating. i said ok for it.. lets c how it will be.
As im planning to remove all mineral based oil from my engine. told him not to change the oil. i will walk in with petronas while taking delivery. change the filter and oil. He asked what is the grade. i said its 10w40. he immediately said recommended is 20w40. i said boss... i know all about the oil. so do what i say :
he was like
.
i hope to see rejuvenated bike on Monday. im gonna miss coming Weekend G2G ride in Chennai.

Hi Guys,
Am not much of a technical guy, but as Adi was suggesting few pages back, is it ok to upshift gears without the help of clutch from second gear? What is the advantage and disadvantages of this? Could you guys please explain? And why is this not advised in downshifting? Dont take me wrong but i am completely clueless about how these things work, that s why i thought i should raise this question here.

Some will do like that... but i always suggest to use clutch. Even im not good in mechanicsOriginally posted by amul7777 View PostHi Guys,

How transmission works !!!
Clutch-less shifting is a high level technique used by racers who ride their bikes to absolute maximumOriginally posted by amul7777 View PostHi Guys,

. Since they are riding in closed circuits in which they know when to up shift and downshift, they use clutch-less shifting to reduce the lag in power delivery
. Clutch is used to temporarily disconnect engine from transmission to have a smooth gear shifts. But to some even this lag is a burden
.
Our transmission is constant mesh type, which means all the gears are connected to each other and they are freewheeling. When we engage to a gear, a collar will attach to the respective gear and stopping the free wheeling. Now the crankshaft is connected to that particular gear. Since all the gears are rotating in the same speed we can change gears without using clutch if timed correctly. But even racers use clutch while downshifting though its bare minimum.Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

I used to use clutch 100% of the time for upshifting..Originally posted by rajesh1136 View PostSome will do like that... but i always suggest to use clutch. Even im not good in mechanics
Then i just tried clutchless shifting for fun one day, It was just amazing (even though it was the first time i was trying it in any bike and i had no prior experience with it)
Even now i use clutch 90% of the time, and try clutchless for fun sometimes..
In my experience, while upshifting with toe shifter, with clutch you can get a tak tak feeling on your feet sometimes, (no sound, but it feels like it stops midway for a moment and then goes to the next gear), happens sometimes, i guess its happened on all gears at one time or another.
But its a continuous motion with heel shifter and for clutchless shift.. no idea why this happens though..

Clutchless shifting increases the life of the clutch plate, but if done incorrectly, it can damage the rest of the gear box
just before upshifting, reduces the throttle a bit, (to match rpm of next gear) and shift..
Downshifts can be done too, but it requires far more precision of increasing throttle before the shift so its not recommended. i tried that too, very noisy and jerky
And regarding gear shifts, does this happen to others as well,
When my bike is off and in neutral, its impossible to go to 1st gear without moving the bike a lil front or back..
but when the engine is on, it seems to go to 1st gear more easily.
Is it normal ???
