Tonight the Osram silverstar will be tested in ghaats! I will tell the results of load shedding + BA series rr + Osram silverstar on Monday, after taking it through two dark nights of ghaat riding.
Cant wait to see the results!!!!!

In short, the mod performs best . Great illumination with upper as well as dipper, overall good visibility. Highly recommended.

On a side note, one sad news. Some a$$shole stole my crampbuster . Have to buy that thing again.

Whats your experience so far with it ?

My bike has run about 4500-5000kms till now and i'm really tempted to shift directly from my mineral oil to the petronas due to its price.

Also can you tell if you changed the oil filter as well while shifting to this oil.
And if you poured 1litre or bought 2 bottles for that extra .1l(with new filter)

And also what do you feel about the engine heat ? i remember reading in engine oils thread that bikes run hotter with this oil. is it true ?
I have run some 780kms after the oil change. I'm very happy with the oil. The gear shift has become so smooth that I shift gears with only my big toe, even when I ride without footwear sometimes accross the street. The gears engage both sides even when the bike is at standstill from 1to4. It does not go to the 5th and 6th.
The engine is super smooth and freely reving.
I did not change the oil filter. Will change it next time.
About the engine heat, I dont know really. The engine is smooth even after long rides. I'll keep an eye on it and post it here. I'm going to pune on the bike this thursday. Will get a chance to examine the engine oil performance in the ride.

Can't mention it any better. Looking forward to your trip on Thursday. I have a small doubt about the transmission.

Having ridden FZ and Uni, GS don't have a precise feeling in gear. Finding neutral is much easier in them and also on hard braking in FZ one can just pull the clutch and change gears all sudden. But for our GS if we dont do a sequential shifting we are stuck at some gear. I felt as if the gear engaging collar have few engaging teeth than them. So this can be removed by using fully synthetic oil rite..........

                • @anup i heard of this earlier also and asked my friend who owns a GS yes atlast found someone in my ring who has this. I asked him some queries he is good with bikes he had the same issue he told whenever he like stopped very fast the gears don't come down quickly. He Told the SVC but couldn't get it to solve so he shifted to a new engine oil Semi-Synth and he told it worked.

Now regarding neutral i found GS to be more better than Apache atleast i had some issues with apache Regarding Uni didn't find any difference but my Ride with all these vehicles has been in Short stint.

P.s Went to the Suzuki Showroom the Guy didn't have the Dual Tone Blue i couldn't see it at all told me to comeback in few days time. When i think i am going to book this something goes wrong lol

good to hear dat the mods performed......m sry to hear bout ur crampbuster....these guys r new to that kinda stuff hence it must have got stolen.......

wat kinda loadshedding u did.....i mean only the pilot lamps nuthng more right....and one more thing da wattage of number plate illuminating light.... is 5 w i guess....so if i evn remove that then i get 35W(default)+10W(pilot lamps)+5w(number plate light)=50W so should it be sufficient to operate osram silverstar or nightbreaker?????i dunno much bout this stuff......

Animeher removed only the pilot lamps. The number plate lamb is 5W which is already on battery. So maximum load shedding possible is only 10W. The other method suggested by him is to find a reliable mechanic who can do rewinding( ruby in banglore). The other plans were to replace those pilot lamps and number plate lamp with 1W LED's and connect them directly to battery which is still an idea so far.

                      • yup if you can find a Source for the DC the LEDs will be a gr8 option will provide you with enough to probably fit a nightbreaker. the tail is LED is it on AC or DC?

                        • Lamps work both in AC and DC , but LED's work only on DC.

Putting good oil will not change the nature of the gears, only it will be smoother. The precise feeling that the FZ gear gives, I dont that that will come on the GS. But it sure is smooth and a pleasure to shift. The GS gears are better than many other bikes on the market now.
Like how I said, if the bike is stopped suddenly in any gear less than the 5th, it can be brought back to Neutral when the engine is off effortlessly. But if it is on the 5th or 6th gear, you need to move the bike a step or turn ON the engine and release the clutch half and shift.

How many kms have you covered? With more kms on the ODO the gears become better. For gears to break in properly long rides are necesay, because with the heat the metal will expand a bit and mesh in and the unevenness will be smoothed out. This will not happen if the bike runs only a few kms at a time. Many people only use the bike for only a few kms at a time and the engine is not run hot for some time. This is also the reason why many bikers find the gears on a new bike rough when hot. It is a good thing, because soon the gears will be better.

LED will also work on AC also but not as efficiently. That is why akfara could fit it directly to his pilots. I did the same. I replaced my stock pilot lamps with LED too and it works just fine. But when you rev the bike it starts flickering.

No I dont think so. Because the fuse will blow out if we connect it to a 35W bulb, as it is only supposed to supply 5W.
