  • Actually The Full Blue is Still better No offense But Black is Fine I didn't want to change the Rear Panel Because just don't want to do some Removing and Adding Stuff When the Bike is New. The 2010 Model has the CA series RR unit which i checked thanx to Blitz for posting the Pic.

    Since My Cam is down will have to post the pics from my Mobile Cam hopefully will take delivery on Thursday if time Permits else Saturday.

    But Just wanted to Ask Should i still go for the Black Rear or Blue One?

    @MSN1 I will tell you to try the 4 if you are riding with a pillion all the time a stiffer suspension might work better.But don't go for too hard 5 it will not be good 3 is actually fine but Try 4 also

    • Hi friends

      I have been a follower of this thread since a long time. I own a GS with 9600 kms on the ODO. Lately after my 4th service my mileage has dropped to 35 and sometimes it even goes down to 30 .
      I commute 25 kms everday to office and i am in a habit of ripping the bike. I touch 105 kmph everday in the Marathalli stretch early morning 6 am. My average speed is around 70kmph. Also i take sudden pickups and do hard braking.

      Is this the reason why my mileage is so low? Shouldnt it be around the 40 kmpl mark? Also after the 4th service the engine sound has increased. Any suggestions or explations from experienced GS owners.

        The mileage shouldn't be so low, no matter your speed. 30-35 is very low. Check for idling, leakage, tyre pressure, from SC. Besides, sudden bursts and braking are not good for long term. Even if roads are smooth, try smooth accelerating, its much more fun and at the same time, good for the engine.

          Hi, Just chech on what animeher said but do check out the petrol bunk coz at bangalore many bunks are not pouring the right quantity petrol (meter will show 4 ltrs but the actual petrol you got might be 2 ltrs) if you got reserve next time just buy 1 ltr pertol in a bottle (check if the quantity is correct) and check out the mileage

            @anihemer
            The idling is 1.5K when hot. There doesnt seem to be any leakage outside. The tyre pressure is rear-36 front 26..thats what i remember as i filled it last week. The problem with the mileage came up after my 4th service..i think the SC guys have fiddled with the carburettor settings.

            @MSN1
            I fill HP Petrol from the outlet next to Cosmos Mall, Kundhanalli. Ill check the quantity with a bottle next time

            One more question though
            When i had bought my bike i used to fill shell...then i switched over to Hp since March...Could the engine noise be cauz of the fuel change?
            Also the glass pane near the engine which shows engine oil level shows only half and when i asked the SC guys they said they filled less oil as it was overflowing.......Is it okay to put less engine oil.

            Im sorry if my questions are are naive as this is my 1st bike n i dnt have much knowledge abt it.

              Do so. I have heard many tales of Banglore cheating.

              Check the oil level in cold engine, and not a running one. A running engine would have oil circulating in the engine, so the level would be less. Ideally, the oil level should be between the Low and High levels, preferably near High.

                regarding checking oil level, you shold not check oil level on cold engine.
                start the engine, run it for few minutes till its warm enough. then swutch off the engine and leave for '3' minutes.
                hold the vehicle in centre position (dont use centre stand) and now check the oil level in the window.

                  • Guys, it seems like front brake is loosing its bite. There were some problems like screeching sound from front brake, even when applied on low speeds. And on third service they said that the problem is due to air bubbles getting into the fluid and they changed oil. After that brake felt as before, now a week after servicing the problem appeared again.

                    The sound is like the whole pad is not making contact with the disc, much like brakes in bicycle. Like the brake pad is vibrating? Did anyone experienced such problems?

                      LOL its not more than 41
                      The worst part is after a lot of tweaking around by SC guys the power also dropped badly.

                        Can u you please clarify If the mileage is above 50 (if driving is good) and the rusting issues have totally been solved??

                        I read here n there like 1 out of 3 bikes have the above fault and this really worries me , my budget is 70 k approx. suggest a better bike if there is any for commuting like 40km per day averagely (5"9 ht, 75 kg,tnagar,chennai)

                          One of three?? That's 33% bikes being faulty, and its as far from truth as can be. My bike always gives me above 48kmpl, no matter what condition, provided I maintain the tyre pressure good. Just keep in mind that the guys with a problem bike will shout a lot, and many guys who don't have any problem will not utter a word!
