    - Finding a decent Mech by word of mouth and stick to him/her for good. Could someone suggest me a good mech around Yelahanka or Hebbal.

The number plate you mentioned (High Security Registration Plate) is not introduced anywhere in India except the states of Goa, Sikkim and Meghalaya. Some other states including Karnataka are in the very first stage of enforcing it.

That one the dealer offers now is not the high security registration plate. It is a fake. Don’t buy it unless you are interested in its neat appearance.

You may be able to find out a local mechanic around you but, in my personal opinion, it is better to get your bike serviced at the authorized service centre itself as they have undergone the training of the company and are more responsible to what they are doing. Whenever you go to the service centre, try to meet the engineer there and explain the problems to him; not to the mechanic or to those who prepare the work card.

Suzuki is always offering free tools and training to the local mechanics whenever a new bike is marketed but only a very few are willing to accept this offer.

As far as I know, some other companies other than Suzuki are offering these tools and training but the result is the same.

      Thank you

I changed oil at 800Km (15 days). Reported the problem of gear shift already during first service. It was not taken care. It is becoming worse.

And bikes gets switched off after crossing 100 KMPH in ECO mode. This is not a big issue as i usually go only at speeds of 55 - 60. I am yet to use power mode. Using Eco mode as i need very good FE and my daily commute is 98KM.

I have to drive almost everyday in very bad roads. Washing the vehicle almost everyday. Hope this will not result in any rusting issues which my friend is having in his 2009 model GS.

      • @ black panther,

Please give more info on how it goes off while on 100 kmph speed, so as any of our members can find what it is

        1. Is it goes off like someone switched on the engine kill switch while riding.

        2. While at 100 kmph. Bike goes off like no fuel (with a deacceleration feel and sound, even if you try to accelerate it goes down in speed)

Is it goes off instantly once the bike touches 100 or is their any struggle before it turns off.

Oh yes, just spotted the background bikes! Well, mods or upgrade, not much to my liking. Didn't like the black rear part of the new orange and blue bikes either. I thank suzuki for this upgrades, because these make us first gen GS owners even happier

Though wish they would something more on 250cc too. The more I see into available 250cc bikes, more I wish Suzuki would come up with a similar CC bike.

Along with this, they should really make most of their popular models of CBU bikes available in India, like the Bking,GSX750R,GSR750.....these bikes would have many buyers in India.

If there is a face-lift of GS150R then it could be more than what we see at the pictures all-over the net.

It is simply because, logically the pictures we find on the net had no major changes and it could have been officially produced months ago.But even after that Suzuki is waiting or deciding on some other issues I think............these are my thoughts-maybe a bump in engine cc or some technical ugrades. That would make another whole new bike and not a New or Facelifted GS150R.
Look at yamaha SZ-R, its a 150cc but still lightweight. Agree gs150r has engine balancer and 6th gear, so it is heavier. But still 149 kg kerb weight is too much. Worse, suzuki showroom people scare people by saying it weighs 150kg. Thye dont mention that dry weight of gs150r is 134 kg.

The only lighter bikes currently are Apache, SZ-R, FZ-S and dazzler. At the current time, all gs150r competitors like pulsar, hunk, and unicorn are also heavy bikes. But suzuki definitely need to make it lighter, because yamaha is making lighter bikes, soon honda too will make lighter bikes.

Its not just suzuki products and product stratergy that are lagging. Look at their marketing. Look at their website. Compared to honda, yamaha, hero, bajaj, and TVS websites, the suzuki website is just apalling. There is not even a proper size picture of gs150r on their website. The dry weight of gs150r is not mentioned on the website. The slingshot plus with disc brake is not displayed on their website. How many years does a company need to change this??

Yes, those old images of the white gs150r could be just the facelifted body paneling without technical upgrades. Since suzukii are taking so much time to bring out the bike, there could be more technical changes/additions to it that were not part of that white bike at that time.

Anyway, lets hope it comes out by october, before the festival season of dussera. Otherwise, it may not come this year too.

Yeah it maybe heavy but the overall package of this 150cc bike is even better than the Yamaha R15..............The solid feel and comfortable cruise on highways amid crosswinds, sidewinds at speeds well around 120kmph is what you cannot expect from any other 150cc bike, myself having ridden all of them including SZ-R (a city bike only) and R15 for many times. The most amazing fact being ,that this weight never shows its effect on the mileage.Suzuki definitely brought us a world-class product, though dated.......it took the 150cc segment for a walk in the refinement park.

Yes, but this weight definitely needed more torque and power in stock settings to be ridden perfectly in all environs.
I too felt the weight in the beginning, but now even with my 5'4" height and substantial hip region,I tackle it as easy as a Scooty through city traffic and congestion in the busiest of markets.

The only thing I felt before Supercharging it was the lack of torque and pulling power, which is now gone. But the issue like aerodynamics and restricted top-speed remains.

So the stock bike definitely needs bhp/Nm upping to feel perfect and a nip and tick here and there(like moving the rider footpegs towards the centre, backward from the present position), in order to become an outright performance bike.

But the present stats of GS150R for being a basic 150cc is doing good.

The website should have more flair, especially when the likes of Hayabusa and Bandit are hoisted on it, but also is true.........many international sites of Suzuki motorcycles lacks the show, but is full of go , if you got what I meant

Howver an average Indian,I feel, craves some show along with the go too.

It switches off as if there is no fuel flow to the engine. Even after slowing down once crossing 100 mark, it switches off. I have to turn off the bike, Wait for 2-3 minutes and turn it on. Sounds weird right..

Not a big issue. Who can drive past 100 continuously in the busy roads of Chennai.. !

And, 1 dealer scared me by saying that SUZUKI stop production of any other color than Black. So, If u find anywhere GREY then it must be a unsold model 2010.

150 kms on debut run wont harm if you drive it with in 65 kmph
and its good for the initial run in settling

anyway you will take rest at least every 60 or 70 kms once rite, then that will do the justice of providing break for the bike to relax
