  • Maintaince and troubleshooting we (customer) can do

This is what I follow and beliieve in:

Their is no seperate book required, as the GS manual itself is enough, in our GS manual they mentioned few troubleshooting which we can perform.

And if you are aware and 100% sure that you can perform certain troubleshooting then you can do it,

    Reg chain troubleshooting.

Recently was driven my GS on half feet depth of murk water in nearby village, after that felt like chain is too tight and on slow speeds getting karra karra sound from chain, as if two metal objects grinding one another.

Opened the rubber button of the chain cover to see how tight the chain is, able to see the chain in middle of the window. So it is normal.

Opened the lower part of the chain cover, now I found a dry chain without any grease or lubrication and with lot of dirt sticking to it.

Removed the dirt with old tooth brush and kerosine.

Applied 2t oil and later on no such sound it ill became normal and going well till date.
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Today i met a mech and asked him to help in learning how to remove chain and refit it accurately for cleaning and lubing, and this guy is telling that it will take at least 1 year(may be he is afraid that i will stop visiting his workshop or may be it takes workmenship to do this activity.)

What the mechanic said is partially true. A full ONE HOUR may be needed to learn how to remove and refit the chain. Remove the chain by unlocking the chain joint clip and to refit it, loosen the rear axle nuts so as to get a looseness of chain to put back this chain joint clip and finally tighten the chain properly.

The rear axle nuts need to be tightened in the correct torque. Otherwise, the chain will get loose. Further, there is a possibility of vibration of the bike.

This too. To do all these works, good spanners is a must. Those we get with the bike are not enough.

Instead of trying to clean the chain, lubricate it frequently and surely after washing with car shampoo, with grease and oil so as to keep it in good shape, as Mazaid53 suggested.

And be careful while lubing the chain.

Can we have a format for it?? like a trouble shooting manual.

@vishnu: that link you have posted is disturbing...people will stop chain cleaning!!

      Mazaid,

It is true that it is disturbing but it has a positive effect that no one will ever forget that pictures and I am sure that they will remember it while they are doing something with the chain.

It is not to discourage anyone, but to remind the necessity of carefulness. Accidents are common but let us be a little more careful.

There are a number of discussions about DC conversion but the information is shattered and we do not get whatever is needed. The most pathetic part is that all are acting as electrical experts and at sometimes the starting person and some other real experts are thrown out of the thread.

Even now, after converting my bike to full DC, I am in search of some information about the proper current to charge the battery.

All are experts there; no one has time to listen others.

            • As I said earlier, I have booked my GS and getting delivery today.

I read in this forum that SVC guys try to divert us from GS to Slingshot, and it happened with me too
When he start describing about slingshot... "Sir, isse achcha aap Slingshot le lo.. bahot badhiya bike hai... mileage bhi GS se achcha hai, 14k to 15k cheaper than GS"
I said him to shut his mouth in front of my Dad other wise I am leaving

then I asked why you people do that? he answered "Our main focus is on Slingshot according to our marketing strategy, and Suzuki also reduces the production of GS."

In this Suzuki showroom only 2 black GS are available and atleast 50-60 slingshots are present there

+1, It happened to me also when i visited Authorised Delear last month.
He was not much interested in selling GS150 rather than Slingshot. When I asked him about features of GS ( just to test him), he just said 1-2 features n stopped and started praising Slingshot...

I too experienced the same thing in a suzuki showroom. Suzuki marketing strategy is really dumb. I dont understand why they, directly or indirectly, discourage people from buying gs150r.

Will a customer who is looking for a 150cc bike ever be satisfied with 125cc slingshot?? If customer buys slingshot and slingshot performs well and does its normal work like 125cc, even then the customer will still be dissatisfied, because he is looking for 150cc performance from 125cc bike. This way, not just slingshot bike, even Suzuki brand gets a dissatisfied customer.

Local delear just sells the bike. The service is provided by Suzuki Service Center itself.

Jayant is ryt, local delear save on octroi and thus provide at lower price..

As far as i know abt mumbai, they bring bikes via goa as there is very less octroi over there.

Also cousins have purchased honda shine and karisma ZMR from this delear and they service their bike at their repective company's service center.
I dont know from where u r got the quote. In my case i got a good deal from Dolphin Suzuki, Ghatkopar.

At purchase of my GS(22/oct/2010) i was staying in navi mumbai(Airoli) and working @ sakinaka, so i enquired mulund and this dolphin showroom. The dolphin guys agrees to give me the bike @navi mumbai rate (67700 for On road + Accessories). What they have done is, they just taken a bike from bhivandi suzuki Gowdown and they directly taken to RTO office in Vashi and registered then handovered to me. At the time i recieved the bike on odo it is 72 KM's(From bhivandi -vashi -ghatkopar).

at that time mumbai on road price in dalphin is around 70K. I think you are given booking amount to dealer.. so no choice....

                          • I had been to the Apple auto showroom in Banshankari, Bangalore to book an access 125 for my dad. This is what i did to kill time. Found the orange model too hot. Hope to get one of those soon

When I asked the representative at the showroom if there was a new model on its way, he indicated that it would probably come out by april next year. But however he did insist that the current model was very good and tried to get me to buy it. He did not divert my attention towards other models.

                              I enquired at 5 showrooms
                              1. Akhsay Suzuki -Malad - 73,250 w/o acc
                              2. Dolphin Suzuki - Sakinaka - 72,000 w/o acc
                              3. Some suzuki at mulund. 71,000 w/o acc
                              4. Artharva Automobiles - Malad - 72,500 with acc
                              5. Om sai automobiles - Kandivali - 71,000 with acc

Its not feasible for me to purchase from mulund and drive back home just to save some bucks..

So finally, I locked it at Om Sai Automobiles.

Also, the guy @ Om sai gave me brochure of GS 150R printed with Dolphin Suzuki address and contact details.

Dude, you purchased it an year back, so 4k price rise is acceptable.

I dont think I can get best bargain anywhere else, nearby.

The reason is as simple as this: Selling a SlingShot is more profitable than selling a GS.

But I cannot resist saying that SlingShot Plus is a nice, comfortable bike for the rural area. I have ridden it for about 200 kms recently. A really good bike with good FE and a much better headlight beam. It is a fast moving product.

Bought an ArmorAll Wax & Polish today and waxed the bike. It gives a good result.
