  • My bike's headlight has got very dim making it very difficult to drive at night; thinking of replacing it. Will they replace it from the service center; is it a good option to get a 3rd party headlight(coz I'd rather get this fixed tomorrow itself rather than giving it to the service center which is quite far from my residence)?

If so what options do you suggest and how much does a decent headlight cost? Please help this noob out

My friend was using my bike for a while. now after i took it back there is a weird vibration sound coming from the engine, I went to castrol bike zone and the guy said the engine parts like cam shaft bore piston tensioner have to be changed. should i go to suzuki showroom and get it checked? My odo reads 30547 now.
You should not be having such problems and replacing camshaft, piston, etc. at just 30547 km. Take it to the showroom and see. There is a km warranty too, if i am not wrong.

Remember in GS the headlight issue araises only while night driving under city light, on pitch dark it won't cause any issue and that's due to the bad reflector (in customer term) and due to wolf eye designed reflector (in suzuki official term)

Comming to your issue I feel its a wrong focused headlight so just adjusting the headlight falling distance setting will do

Even if it didn't works no need to replace the head just the headlamp reflector will do justice
For the reflector replacement just PM Dr.Arul for details.

          @ electric goat

Just a vibration from engine area can't be a engine problem but it may be a minor problem some where close to the engine.

If their is a major problem with those core parts means you can't just ride the bike buddy; if it is that means either you can't crank the bike or even it runs you can't resist the noise and nasty performance.

Either local mechanic or castrol bike zone or SVC; for parts replacement you have to contact suzuki dealer as this parts aren't manufactured by third party vendor and this parts are not frequently replacable parts so as gettable at market place.

So finally requesting you to reach dealer because any for spares you have to spend the same cost and with the dealer it can be replaced free of cost if you doesn't void the warrenty by any way and dealer SVC guys know better about your bike when it comes to the heart of your bike.

          • Gone in 60 seconds!!!

Hi guys its been a long time now posting in xbhp..Well it was a memorable Aug for me as I had been for a long drive to eastern ghats in my beloved gs150r. As I mentioned in few posts before its a sheer pleasure to take him away on a long drive as the character he possess is immensely appreciable. Am eagerly waiting to share my experiences but before that let me share a sad news with you all..

On a first week of this month I met with an accident where my Gs had a quite severe ugly bruises all over the doom, crash guard, near engine guard & a 60 degree bent over the gear lever.. (Me too had an left hand radius#head [below elbow] fracture & still not yet recovered from the fracture as my hand is full wrapped with plaster of paris!!!)

Guys am just sharing this post with you all as a matter of fact that the stock tyres provided with the bike [MRF Zapper] has been a real culprit for this incident I believe..Coz the place where the incident happend had a tarmac road little be it with a wet surface. To my horror the bike was just out of ctrl when it actually skidded off the road & I completely lost my balance from it. Today am so sad not because I've hurt myself but because my gs looks so ugly with all bruises & marks over it!!!

So I would like to know whether is there any chances to remove off those scratches by any method?? I need to get rid of it soon...

                Hi Guys,
Nice to see the forum going good. Am in the US now and I miss my GS150R badly..... I got to see many super bikes here like kwaker, yammy FZ1, Our beloved GIXXER, and a SV650 [and obviously the Harleys]. Last month I saw a guy selling his well maintained naked SV650.. Not sure about the price he quoted....

And this white GS150 rumor has spread like anything.... I saw a news article with this picture in BikeIndia website . Now I have the question of trusting their articles.....

Heard from the news that a new version of R15 is coming.... What are these Zuki guys doing ????

Here, I think the culprit is not the tires, but the inability to control the bike and keep it upright while braking.
If there are scratches on the headlight lens and are not very deep, get it buffed at a lathe shop. The scratches on the headlight cowl are not removable. So, either replace it or hide the scratches with stickers.
                  And, repaint the crash guard.
The no claim bonus we get from the insurance company is only a few rupees. Claiming insurance was more profitable.

Ok... I tried to open up the headlight to try and lower it but the central screw is too tight and its edges were getting worn off when I tried to remove it
Not able to access the adjustment bolt of the headlight without opening it up either.

As you said there seems to be problem with focusing of headlight; when bikes/auto comes up behind me the light from their headlights is better for me to drive on but gives shadow in front of me.

                    • Chain cleaning.

18'500 kms old sprockets which survived two monsoons. Ride was through mud roads, village roads and highways.

NEVER cleaned but frequently lubed with Castrol Premium Formula Gel and their SAE 140 Rear Axle Oil.

                      Is chain cleaning really essential?

See page 6-52 of the user’s manual to know how to adjust the headlight beam. Turn that screw anti clockwise with a star screwdriver to lower the beam. The headlight assembly need not be opened for it.

These are 2 options for a better headlight beam:

                        1. Rewind the stator coil with 19 or 18 swg winding wire and fit it in the same manner without replacing the RR.

                        2. Rewind the coil with 19-18 swg wire, replace the RR with Ape’s and connect all the bulbs to battery.

Do any one of it and fit any good 55/60 watt bulb like Osram Night Breaker.
