  • @newfan: It takes around a week or two to reach a truck from factory to dealer and whatever time it takes till a customer buys a bike. so don't bother about manuf. date of your bike, it doesn't matter as you get warranty from the date you purchase the bike. if there is any, i mean even a smallest defect you can get it replaced/ repaired free of cost under warranty.
but if you are keen on knowing it, better ask dealer when he has got that bike in stock and you can safely assume a month or two before the dealer date.

@Vishnu: "My bike was purchased on 27/1/2010 but was manufactured in 12/2009"

how did you find this Manuf date? is it the date mentioned on your RC or it was there on your bike somewhere...
In my case though i bought my bike in Jan, the dealer informed me that the stock he had was from Nov. and new lot was expected in Jan, but since there was no blue bike in new lot I bought a nov. machine. Now I registered my bike in Jan and that clerk in RTO put manuf. date as jan 2011 in bike registration details
hence i am asking you how did you get that manuf. date??

@Nagamani: congrats on a refined machine. the FE you are getting is much better than some of us here. there's something with the pics though. cannot see them.

If the FE is still poor, try cleaning the jets - especially the main jet.
How to find out the manufacturing month and year is explained here.

      • Hi folks,

I bought Blue GS150R on 23rd July, 2011 and have done 1600Kms till now. The ride quality and handling in heavy traffic are superb.

Done with my first service and had few issues before that

        1. The gearshift was tight (due to being new)
        2. Sound coming while shifting gears as though something inside has broken which rattles at every gearshift.
        3. Headlight focus not being proper. It was pointing high.

The above issues except the headlight was fixed. The gearshift was smoother but the engine started making noise like a old Hero Honda CD100.

Also, few days after 1st service, started having a new problem with gears. The gearshift lever gets stuck while shifting from 3rd to 4th and 5th to 6th gears. I had to push it several times to get a gearshift. Also, to shift from neutral to 1st in a standstill position, I had to push the lever several times or push the bike little forward while trying to shift to 1st gear. Had been to the SVC and they told its problem with clutch plate and replaced it. It was fine for a day with buttersmooth gearshifts and as I was getting happier with the gearshift, I started to experience the same problem but not as frequent as before. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Also, the headlight focusing problem hasn't been fixed even after repeated requests.

I am from Bangalore and got my bike from Apple Auto in BTM. Got the service too done there. I would like to know if the SVC is reliable or do I need to get it done from some other SVC as I did not find the problems to be fixed.

        Thanks.

Welcome to our GS 150R family. Frankly speaking, this gear shifting problem is due to your gear shifting style. You are shifting it in the inappropriate engine rpm and it will become smooth when you get used to it as msb said.

Adjust the engine rpm to a maximum of 1400 when the engine is warm, i.e. after riding 2 or 3 kms. And always engage 1st gear at a lower rpm, i.e. at around 1000-1100, without accelerating.

If your bike is OK, forget the date of manufacturing.
i m worried since in one of ur previous posts u mentioned that some desisn flaws are altered in 2011 edition GS

And i checked my fuel tank yesterday i was shocked to see some mild rusting at the inner tank cap.

This rusting which is common in all bikes in our coastal area cannot be considered as design flow. The inner portion of the tanks from 2010 onwards is having an anti-rust coating but not on its mouth.

Suzuki is replacing the rusted tanks even after the warranty period. If it is rusting, get it replaced under warranty.

                  • Hello Friends,
Today i met with an accident ,
This is my first accident on a two wheeler, after my GS clocked 7457km of ODO which is only 73 Days Old after delivery date

It was evening when i was near to a Small city called ERODE, while i was around 70-75Kmph speed. Suddenly two small boys(around 9-10 years old) on a bicycle tried to cross the road from a small Cut-road which is perpendicular to the main road. There is no way to turn the bike on either side so only thing on my hand is to apply a sudden break to stop the bike, and i managed to stop my GS within seconds no problem until i think around 10kmph,but after that my GS kissed the bicycle, i and my GS slided on the Left side on the Road, The two guys also fell down before my GS.
Thank God nothing happened to me as well as to the two little Guys.

                    My GS have scratches in,
Head Light Assembly, Bumper, Clutch Liver, Left side Handle, and on sarry guard no dents in anywhere and also The bicycle got a dent on its chain cover.
So i asked those kids to not to play on the road side and give Rs100 for repairing the bicycle, i informed it to their parents also and came back to home.

                    Foot Note:
                    1. I realized one thing, The deceleration of our GS, awesome Break and Aerodynamic design, i think this thing really saved me from big fractures
                    2. Thanks Suzuki

                    • @ vulcan,

If your bike driving is mostly on night and that too on highway means opting for HID with DC set up is needed, but even in such sittuation I would recomend you to use four wheeller for that purpose.

In GS the head lamp focus issue is caused by reflector, why don't you try changing the reflector, which was done bhy DR.Arul (he posted the details few pages back), that's cheep and best one for commuter purpose.

                      @ Dr.Arul,

Its good that all are saved with out minor injuries,

For scratches on plastic parts please use stickers to hide them, painting won't works well for that.

                        vulcan,

Fit 2 additional wheels on your GS immediately to make it a 4 wheeler, as MSN1 said.

Good to know you are safe without injuries and the two little ones also escaped. Mainly happy that local public left you without any fight!!

Some points I noted, deceleration of GS and its breaks are quite good, provided if one knows how to brake efficiently.
Aerodynamic design? I dont get your point mate! No fun/no insult, what does aerodynamics/aerodynamic design got to do with braking from 70kmph-0 or for that matter protecting you from getting hurt? Were you trying to convey something else or have I misunderstood your point?
To remove scratches try formula 1 scratch removal solution.(beware of duplicates)

Consult the engineer at the workshop and let him decide what to do in this case.

It is not a very easy task as you think, especially as you are not very familiar with the parts of the bike.

Repeat the whole process to prepare a video? It is a bit difficult.

Happy that all of you escaped without any injuries. Why did you pay 100 rupees to those little idiots? It is a bad message to them as the fault is not from your side.

If the scratches on headlight assembly are on its lens, it can be buffed at a workshop with lathe. Or rub it with 2000 grade sandpaper and then with Formula 1 SCRATCH OUT.

The bumper and saree guard can be repainted but the clutch lever and handle bar needs replacement. Do not try to straighten the handle bar if it is bent.
