wow ripping apart or modifying the GS. ahh at last saw a GS today and guess what were in my Colony itself din't know that there was a GS.Black color was old model 2009 and talked to the guy now talked everything about the bike was hoping to get a test ride but didn't know him well

Any way mileage he is getting was around 55+ and he told he is a sane driver and drives around 55kmph so i can see the mileage is not bad for that speed.

He told me he hasn't got any rust issues but there was low pickup in 2nd gear but it got rectified after service.

Now i really need to talk with this guy more if i can get a test ride within 5 minutes of my house don't have to travel to get a test ride

I wish to upgrade to a 55/60 watts bulb. But with the current system the bulb will not glow at its full capacity. So need to get hold of the wiring diagram so I can seek help online. Raj.

The stock bulbs are 35w right? hmm why not go for powerful bulbs in the same 35w what about Halogen bulbs?

Don't know much but are halogen bulbs the stock bulbs in GS?

if there are i think should can go for some other bulbs philips etc.

              • ^^^ the stock halogens by Halonix are not that good. Try the 35W philips from a Honda spares at Rs 195 each (loot)

Else, change the pilot lamps + number plate light to LED. That saves almost 15W. Then use a good 55/60W bulb like an Osram Silver Star (~Rs 190) or even Philips bulbs (dunno how much) from a Hyundai dealership. Even better, try the Osram Nighrbreaker (at abt Rs 700)

This should surely work.. Replacing Pilot & number plate lights with LED will save good amount of power to light up 80-90% of 55/60W bulb.

Else go for coil rewinding & put 90/100W

                  • Hii guys. Stopped by to say a small update. Done second service @ 4K and what can i say bike feels freaking awesome. Now the feared one has happened, its driving me crazyyyyy. My bike has never felt this great.

On the way to pick my bike my friend who did his fourth servicing of FZ last week let me ride bike till SVC. Fz was very smooth and gear shifts were effortless. I became a little down as i know my GS was never as smooth as Fz. But every worries of mine was blown away when ride my bike after servicing. I never thought an oil change and chain lubricating can do this much difference in performance. I cant wait to know how well the engine will rev once i replace mineral oil with fully synthetic one. Eagerly waiting till ODO crosses 10K.

Please help me by clarifying some of my doubts....

                      1. Which mode is good/advisable for initial period power or eco.
                      2. If we keep the bike in power mode and keep the rpm below 4.5 for the initial 800km, will it make any difference.
                      3. Just wanted to know the recommended speed range for each gears... Beacuse some times I end up in 4th gear when speed is around 25km.

ECO mode and POWER mode just differ in the rpm in which the indicator LED glows. No parameters such as engine fuel mapping is different in those modes. In the running in period eco mode is preferred as it will give indication if you are over revving over the rev limit . Instead of the speed keep an eye on the engine rpm. Use the gears in such a way that engine rpm is between 4K-5K. When ever the rpm drops below 3.5K downshift. Don't use clutch when riding in low speed. Try to ride in higher gears as possible. On cold start always use kick start and keep engine idle for a minute. I think many believe that riding in high gears at slow speeds will increase the mileage, but its not so. Ride in proper gear so as engine wont be strained.
During the breakdown period the engine will get heated very quickly so avoid longer journeys till first service. For the engine parts to get seated its recommended to vary the rpm instead of keep it in same rpm. The best way is to rev in each gears.

that's sound like a good idea 35w is better if u don't want to do much Osram nightbreaker rs 700 wow must be good.

Honda spares are like 30-40% costlier and quality kk not that good to pay such high prices.

So 35w bulb of Honda unicorn?

Now i am waiting really to book this have got Ceat tires which someone is giving bulbs are not much cost.

Accessories are almost in stock and bike is not

That bulb is damn good. Try it. Before you try, you may want to check the bulbs in different bikes and see. I am sure the bikes with this bulbs would give better lighting.

Since shell is there in bangalore. You could try switching also try switching to may be the premium petrol also.

Really doesn't sound like any issue with the bike more of petrol issues.
I used to fill shell petrol only, but now shell prices seem to be crazy, 4-5 bucks difference from normal petrol, so i had to shift to normal BP petrol only last 5-6 times.. thats kind of when my mileage troubles started too, coming to think of it.
But the thing is, i've tried 3 BP bunks so far, some of them are reputed ones too(residency road), cant believe even they tamper with the meters.

Will try shell again and update again.
