My bike has run 1200 kms now. First service is done.
i have a few questions.
1) What is the use of changing the RR unit? I currently have the BA series, please forgive me as i am a noob with bike electricals/mechanicals. Should i change it? Will the suzuki dealer replace it to me free of cost?
2)regarding rear brake springs, should i get it replaced? I feel the brake bite is a bit less, mine is a Apr 2010 GS
3)Squeaking sound from shock absorber is there for the past one week, planning to take it to the showroom next week for this.
4)When i stop suddenly from high speed in 6th gear downshifting becomes tough/ the gears do not fall back easily, it feels like its stuck, i have to upshift or move the bike a little to downshift again, whats the cause for this?

It is mainly for the Headlamps to make them more efficient That is what i know
2)regarding rear brake springs, should i get it replaced? I feel the brake bite is a bit less, mine is a Apr 2010 GS
Now some have Experienced Better braking with Change in Brake Springs but hey you bought in April 2010 Brakes Take time to come up to efficiency If you replace the Whole Break pads Usually service Guys tell It will take some time to get the Grip on Brakes.
3)Squeaking sound from shock absorber is there for the past one week, planning to take it to the showroom next week for this.
This most likely Looks like some small issue i had this in my Honda Eterno and it was a washer issue and took almost 3 hrs to get it done.
4)When i stop suddenly from high speed in 6th gear downshifting becomes tough/ the gears do not fall back easily, it feels like its stuck, i have to upshift or move the bike a little to downshift again, whats the cause for this?
hmm From 6th gear upshift i hope GS didn't find the 7th gear
I heard this but i have this in my Eterno itself if you stop at 4th Gear it doesn't fall back easily. But try to Release the clutch a bit and try to shift downwards. else If this is problem with all GS then no idea mainly this problem is associated with Clutch plates.
@rajesh yeah Delhi has it's own Cheers when it comes to pricing but really CB Uni is Costly 62 K really Honda does some Changes to its looks and charges high for it as well.
Dazzler is supposed to About 70K ex showroom Confirmed from Prakash Honda(Noida) Dealers have not yet got the lot Supposed waiting time for this vehicle is 2 months so those in need get in Que.
Dazzler is way over my budget of 65K. Now i like some good points to Convince my father on GS really i am running out of points told him same 150CC,better Console
, better SVC(may be).

New GS now has CA series RR, but it is not yet confirmed its superiority to BA series, so continue with what you have.

Looking for a definitive answer myself.

Firstly, don't stop when you are in 6th gear! Gears are there to put you at right speed. Always while braking, brake progressively, and shifting gears down appropriately. If at all you are using 6th gear for low speed riding and stopping too frequently in 6th gear, your mileage will suffer. Always keep the RPM between 2.5-4.5K.

Guys can anybody tell me if they are experiencing Variable Mileage after a year with the GS.This is only Department Where i am scared about the GS the most not even the rust issue. This is mainly because the bike has been launched in 09 and only 1yr has passed by.
Since the main idea being the mileage is why i was looking into Gs which is a 150CCLast edited by adi231189; 05-12-2010, 03:11 PM.

Also i have one more query.
The side hook/handle for carry bags which comes as an extra fitting looks a bit odd and bent towards outside, but the one which comes for the ZEUS is pretty neat, can it be installed in the GS also? Else i am looking at putting up a side box as i am a frequent meat buyer, and i dont want it to scratch the petrol tank as i usually put them on the handle bar.
Putting up a box really spoils the look of the bike doesnt it?

1. My advice would be to change it. It would probably improve the headlight. If you can click a few pictures on a dark road with your headlight on. Then after changing the rr unit click photos again. You would be able to compare if there is any improvement. 2. I thought 2010 model has better rear brakes. Anyways you should not be bothered much about the rear brake, if you use both brakes. Use them in a 60:40 ratio. I have a december 09 model and have not faced any issues with the breaks. 3. The squeaking sound is coming from the swingarm bolt. Just tell the sc guys that there is sound coming from swingarm bolt. They will remove it and lubricate it and you are done. For the 4 question break progressively and try to downshift in the meanwhile. In case you are stuck in a higher gear, just blip the accelerator with your clutch pressed and you should be able to downshift. Guys!!! Thanks for clarifying on the clicking sound part. But none of you answered the other part of my issue.Originally posted by Baala View PostHi Guys!!!
It has been a while after I got to write here.... got totally stuck with work. Hope all of you are fine!!!!!
I gave my babe for her 1st service and took it yesterday evening. The drive, gear change everything was smooth. Actually not much of traffic between airport road suzuki to Vinayak Nagar - so I was maintaining the speed in about 50 - 60.
Today I went to cunningham road and back home (roughly around 23 KMS total) It was a pretty bad traffic and so I had to drive in around 8 -12KMH in 1st and 2nd gear atleast 1/3 of the distance, rest was in an average of 35 KMH speed.
I noticed that while returning, I didn't get a smooth feel in any of the gears (Like you know which speed which gear is fine from ur experience - this time I had to drive in the next gear to get that smoothness i.e. normally 25KMH speed will be smooth in 3rd gear today I had to take it to 4th gear to get the smoothness)
I took the bike again to SC and they did something for 2 hours - making me wait downstairs and finally told me that there was a small issue and we have rectified it.
I took back the bike... and realised I have bigger problems
1. Since I had complained about the sound and RPM being > 2000, I think they have reduced to the bare minimum and the vehicle gets off every time I reduce the speed to minimum.
2. The vehicle is not smooth at all in any of the gears, it feel a stiffness and vibration (the ones you get when you are in higher rpm at lower gear ) in almost all the gears.....
Eg. It becomes very difficult to maintain 4th gear after 35km/h and maintain 5th gear after 47km/h....Even in 6th gear I am able to feel that stiffness and vibration (which was definetely not there before I gave it for service) and when I come down from 5th to 4th gear @ 30 -35 kmh speed, it felt it was kind of chocking (similar to what will normally happen if I am change to 3rd gear suddenly at around 60km/h speed). I don't know how to explain this to the service person, so that he will understand. Please help me.
@ Falcon: I am not sure if this is what you mean by engine roughness.... If so, I am with you.... Infact I am planning to take the bike again to the Airport Road Suzuki SC tomorrow and ask them to check it again.
I feel I should have given the bike for service itself

Im not able to understand or feel what you saying as the roughness issue.Originally posted by thefalcon View Post@adi231189
The new uni has some pretty major changes dude. (major cosmetic ones atleast).
And i dont think its 62k.. it might be more than that..
You were talking about the unicorn dazzler right ??
@all:
One of my friends (orkut friend actually, havent met him in person) had got a new piston and bore after complaining a lot about engine roughness and knocking problems..
He just finished the run in period with the new bore, seems the new engine blocks have major improvement(tested upto 100km/h speed) over the old bikes and there is no knocking problems or roughness anymore..
Does anyone from airport road suzuki(b'lore) have this engine roughness problem ??
We all could approach the service centre together and give a complaint. i've tried telling them(3 times during last 3 services), but i guess they dont understand what i say, or they just downplay the issue and say it seems normal only !!!!
Also, if anyone sends a mail to suzuki regarding this issue, please post updates over here as even i would like to know how to approach the suzuki people and sound convincing enough to get some attention..
Just out of curiosity, do many people in this thread have the roughness issue or is it only few of us ?? (only 2009 models)
May be i didnt notice in my bike. please explain how you will feel it ? then i will check my bike.
What is this Teflon coating ? you got in service center itself ? whats the use ? finally ... pictures pleaseOriginally posted by MSN1 View Postfinished Second service for My GS150R on 4th of this month
after that am getting 53 to 58 KMPL (city)
Asked them for RR (Rectifier ) unit replacement that service guy tried to put AA Series
instead of CA Series, told him to stop it and asked them for CA Series Rectifier they don't have stock in hand hopefully getit in another 15 or 20 days
My Baby got Teflon coating for 450 Rupees looks great and they are offering 2 more Teflon coating free of cost so i can avail it anytime with in a year period

Everyone or all bike will have this issue. not only Gs all bikes.Originally posted by amul7777 View PostMy bike has run 1200 kms now. First service is done.

having a box will spoil any bikes look.get a bigger tank pad and keep the cover on top of your tank.Originally posted by amul7777 View PostAlso i have one more query.

Anyway please update on what the SC tells after checking the bike.
Its not very easy to explain, but its something like, in the mornings when i just start my bike, its smooth and the sound from engine is less. but as i ride for more than 6-7 kms and the engine gets hot, i can feel more vibrations on the footrest and at idling i can hear some tak tak sound(most probably from the valves) and the overall sound from the engine is also more(tappet noise as told by SC).Originally posted by rajesh1136 View PostIm not able to understand or feel what you saying as the roughness issue.

Teflon coating is just a wax coating that is rubbed on with a machine and rotating brush.. (hides minor scratches, makes the bike shine more).

Gs is really awesome bike... 2nd to Unicorn I would say. Only the short ratio gears make a bit tedious in crowded area, on wide roads u won't notice it. It is smooth, good performer for its segment and good mileage too. But its heavy and becomes difficult to control/handle on non tar, rural roads (if u travel) -consider this if u are weak or normal in strength. In this case u might want to look at Dazzler but we have no idea about its weight yet.Originally posted by adi231189 View Postto be true even i am considering it as an option to GS Hey shadowfox how many you did in ODO till now. How is the bike.

About Low Mileage
Dear Friends,
my completed it's 3rd service, it's ODO is 4850Kms,
even after completing it's service on proper timing i am getting very LOW MILEAGE,
Low means i am not getting any single meter more than 40Kms.
while it's 3rd service i told that service guy to concentrate on this issue, after service he told me that your mileage issue is completed.
can anyone suggest me any ideas?
Thanks in advance....
