My svc uses some oil boxed in suzuki cartons. I really hated that oil because with about 25kms of constant riding and the engine feels rough and lifeless. I changed to petronas fully synth(mentioned in some old post here) at 6851Kms(had noted it down). I'm now at 7300 something kms. Fully satisfied with the oil. Well priced and worth it. I had even taken my bke to churchgate the day the trains were on strike. Total mess on the roads, three hours of riding with a pillion in total jams, and still the engine was noticeably smooth. With the svc oil I'm sure my bike would have sounded like a mixer by the time I reached churchgate.
With great Power(and Torque) comes great responsibility.

      • thanx blitz i think people are experiencing issues just because of the SVC oil. Now i think my so much presence in this thread itself tells how much heart i have for GS.

@rajesh since you are only in your 2nd service i still tell you to go for oil other than SVC guys since i think most of the people are facing issues because of SVC grade oils.

But lets say i go for 1st service can i tell them i don't need a oil change? or will they put it any way.

yeah Petronas is a VFM it is aroudn rs 300 here full synthetic who gives at that price i will buy it even if it runs 3k-4k kms without issues.
If i go for GS first thing will be to get hold of mineral based oil of petronas in 1st service itself.SVC oil or Outside oil doesn't make a difference but probably may wait till 2nd service.

        • Hi Blitz,

After reading your post.i am sure that my bike which as the same problem mentioned by you(initially is smooth but can hear some loose screws rolling in the engine....after few kms the engine behaves with loud harsh sound and vibes can be sensed at the foot rest....) must behave decently like gentleman...after oil change.

ACTUALLY THE ENGINE WAS VERY MUCH PERFECT WHEN I BOUGHT IT FROM SHOWROOM,EXCEPT THE HEAT THERE WAS NO ENGINE HARSH/VIBES....BUT WHENI GAVE THE BIKE FOR THE FREES SERVICE CAMP HERE THEY PLAYED WITH THE BIKE AND FROM THAN ONWARDS I AM FACING THE PROBLEMS....EVEN AFTER FIRST SERVICE THE PERBLOM WAS NOT RECTIFIED...

After my 1ST service for the initial 20 to 30 kms the bike was smooth bot after that the problem creeped up....

let me know what oil is best......as i am heading for 2ND SERVICE IN NEXT WEEK.(THE SUZUKI HERE HAS CASTROL 20W40)

          THANKS,
          NAGESWER

I replaced the Pilot lamps to LEDs myself and after removing the cover I discovered about the rubber padded screw thing. These screws fit the visor. I had to go looking for them at local mecs to fit my visor back. It costed me 40rs for these screws as they come in a packet of 6 pairs and cant buy them single.
              [/QUOTE]
Exactly what i told ,the rubber padded screw. My SC told ordered that screw from SC pondy...Is that a simple screw is not in stock?
where u buy the screw then how is look like ? same type or different? is it fit well? where we have to ask that screw in local auto shop or hardware shop? is it come with the rubber pad?
here in my town motul 20w 40 oil or 10w 30 or 15w 50 only available is it motul 20 w 40 is better than castrol 20w 40.Other choice is mobil 20w 40 how is it compared to castrol20w 40
is it casrol power racing full synthetic is that much bad or o.k.
Sorry bro i ask u too much question

Please help me in engine oil part. also posting the point 2 alone in engine oil thread.
Elf moto 4 gold is supposed to be a good oil..

I've used shell sx4(mineral) and found it to be good,(very good compared to SC oil atleast). Dont worry if its manufactured in india or not, shell will supervise everything so quality will be same.

Motul 3100 or 3000 are minreal oils that are good, i think the 3000t oil is pretty cheap too. not very sure.

and castrol is actually a good oil, it works well for 700kms and then loses viscocity(this is why people dont recommend it), you might have got a duplicate one if it was bad from the start.(ya, there is a lot of duplicate castrols in market )

I'm planning to shift to shell semi synthetic one vsx4 at 5k odo. if your bike is close to that mark, you could try semi synthetic.
I want to see if it'll solve the problem.

@Blitz: Bro, did you experience all the roughness problems we had mentioned in the previous pages. Did it all go away with the petronas oil ??
like engine roughness when hot etc etc.?

I had read somewhere that suzuki superbikes get overheated, and that was why suzuki made that jet cooling system. may be same thing happens with gs150 too.

The harshness at higher RPM is mainly to do with oil viscosity at higher temps. I discovered that after changing to fully synthetic the problem is all gone.

The main problem I now face is that, the bike is so smooth that I cant resist speeding. I mostly go 3digit speeds and that is affecting my mileage a lot.
Thanks for the information mate, I was wondering where you had gone, long time since your last post and here you are with a bang.Today gave bike for the third service at 5350 Km have been troubled with small problems will give a detailed post......

Guess power 1 is also semi synthetic so i can directly try VSX. my odo reads 4300. its 290

and Motul 3000 20w40 mineral oil is 200 rupees. Will give a try for VSX

                      • Hi Falcon,

Sorry for the delayed response. I was totally held up till yesterday.

Coming to the issue.....After the SC drove my bike, he accepted that there is some issue and asked me to leave the bike on Monday morning.... but could leave it only today. I should be getting the bike today or tomorrow.

I have told them that, the issue happens only after the engine becomes hot i.e. after say 11-15 kms..... so I have asked them to keep for one extra day also if they wanted and check it properly.....

When I took my bike the day after my 1st service to Airport Road Suzuki, Mr. Prathap, who fills the job card sheets in basement (He is a slightly short and fair guy with pleasant manners) asked me to meet Mr. Sivaanand (a) Sivanna (This is the mechanic in 2nd floor - a lean, tall guy) and explain the problem once myself.... Thats how I met him.

Second time when I went again last friday, Prathap himself called Sivanna down and asked him to ride the bike along with me and check it......

Today he gave me their phone nos. also.

                        Prathap: 9886791563
                        Sivanand (2nd Floor Mechanic): 9986638067

Call one of them next time, they are pretty friendly.

I shall update the condition of the vehicle tomorrow after driving it.

                        • Hi guys,

Gave my baby for 3 F/S today. 3300 on ODO.
With all the ppl here talking about oils i am confused.

Only thing i am able to make out the discussion here is
SC oil (pratap, Airport rd,SC guys said its castrol) is not good.

Pratap said we need to change oil after every 2000k run.

                          Oil change history
                          1 FS - 700km (SC oil)
                          2 FS - 2000km (SC oil)
3 FS - 3300 km (asked them not to change this time)
As it 4FS is 50 days away i dont think i will drive more than
                          700km during this period.

I dont feel there is any engine roughness problem but
sometimes i feel raw power or raw sound from bike after long
drive. I dont see it as problem .

                          1. What do you xperienced xbhpians suggest about oil change?

                          2. Should i go for next F/S depending on days or the ODO. As am not driving at that much these days.

BTW met bala at SC in the morning . Hi bala !!

                          • Third free service.

Completed third free service today at 5350 Km. I had some troubles with front brake, engine sound and petrol leaking from fuel cork screw. My service was due on 23rd. Yesterday did some touring, as front brake was not providing enough stopping pressure was using rear brake+ engine braking( shifting down and releasing clutch immediately). Just before i reached home began to smell petrol on reaching home saw petrol dripping from cork screw. It stopped when turned the screw to off position, so gave bike to third service today morning .

                            Works done on bike
                            1. Changed fuel cork screw
                            2. Carburetor tuning
                            3. Front brake oil change
                            4. Oil was not changed as previous oil change was at 4150 km
                            5. Tightened tappet screws

As every time bike was smooth on cold start, rode to home at rush hour with lots of braking and shifting. Engine was still smooth reaching home and made minimal noise riding 9 Km.

I am nearing for my 2nd service in this weekend...Please suggest me either to stick to the default oil provided by the Suzuki or shift some other mineral oil?

I am experiencing the rough/raw/harsh engine performance..(sound),with decreased mid pick up and low intensity vibes.....

Gsians.... please let me know what engine oil you are have used for your 2nd service..and the aftermath improvment....
