    • okk Guys filled a total of approx 17-18litres of fuel yesterday just before Rs 3 Rise And still there was space to get another litre or so. The bunk i fill all the time know the guy very well total fuel Cost Rs 500 There was already Fuel of about 7 Litres since i filled it yesterday morning before Any news of Fuel Hike. The Tank is like a Fuel Storing machine.

Any way thanx for clarifying on Knocking issue anup but rajesh the article is really tempting. For me Castrol is Working just fine Total almost 1k kms done after oil change no issues with Shifts but Knocking is only problem i am noticing and i feel that earlier there was no knocking doing 4th gear at 20Kmph but now there is. I am Driving daily 70Kms with 90% on highway and major thing i noticed GS works very well in Cooler Weather Condition and is a Charm to drive.

Any way not thinking of shifting any oil currently unless i get very irritated with the knocking sound then i might try my hands on Gulf Pride. But Only concession i have is i don;t have problem finding all kinds of oil in delhi.

p.s I agree to what falcon said even i saw the pic and i really think it is darker than my GS the 2010 Model. Mine is more Lighter in Color but very less greenish tinge to it.

Guess everyone was busy rushing to the petrol bunk before the price hike

Even i filled 500 bucks(9.21litres) yesterday, there was hardly one litre before i filled so my fuel indicator went up to 3 bars.

If you asked about the knocking sound in low rpm the explanation i gave wont hold. I thought you were mentioning about the knocking sound on sudden acceleration or above 5 K mark. In break in period it is not at all advised to run your engine on higher gear in lower rpm. Always try to use proper gear. If you dont want to hear that knocking sound then hold the clutch and blip the throttle and release the clutch you can easily lug even on 5th gear but its not a good practice.

PS: I tried to have a Dyno chart of our GS but in vain. Have anyone tried a Dyno test? With the Dyno chart we can analyze the torque and BHP and can time our gear shifts for better fuel economy and power.

          • Fixing Hugger !!!

Guys did anyone thought about fixing hugger to our GS? I did some research and found that we cannot use hugger of FZ and P150. There is another option of hugger of P135. It seems like we can fix it with some modifications. I have exam coming week, so it will take some time for me.

            • Amidst confusion... Changed to Fully Synth.

Went to a local mechanic shop and asked for oil change. 15 rupees is cheap

They drained the old oil... It was looking yuck. Not black. Some what brownish and i think gulf wont last 10k as they say for sure. But it will for 3k but definetly not more than that.

This AGIP was almost colourless like water but had shade of petrol colour.

Poured in the new oil. Ran engine in idle for 5 mins then reved it heavily. engine was already very hot. Cos rode like 10 km to heat the engine and to change the oil.

Initially the gear shifts were tight. Engine is smooth. Then i rode like 50 kms. Then gear shifts started to soften. Guess its need some time to settle in. But still Gulf 4t was awesome in gear shifts. Cos with small tap with my toe it will change.

But overall engine is very smooth and silent. Gear shifts not smooth as Gulf 4t but not very bad.

i will update once i used it for around 500 kms.

@Anup.. i forgot to answer.. yeah mobil is having full synth for motorcycles.. But ppl saying its just the type of oil and its replacement to mined mineral oil. but lets c. I have trust in me. I break-in my engine currently and 6k is enough for it lets see how this oils change works out.

Finally decided for Synthetic na. Actually I was almost certain that you would choose synthetic as the offer is irresistable. I was planning to wait till 10K mark but you guys are tempting me as well. By 10K i believe everything will be settled. Remember Imjoshee's post he mentioned that when we reach 10K mark everything will be smooth and we wont feel like going for synthetics. Do post how it feels with full synthetic.

Is Mobil and Mobil 1 different? I saw a can of Mobil full synthetic and it was 750 Rs. I never heard anyone mentioning about Mobil in xBhp so didnt bother to ask about it.

                  • @Anup The Knocking sound is nothing to do with the shifts actually for me. Lets say i run my GS for 10kms on like hot conditions. After that i get the knocking sounds starting even if the bike is Stand still. I get a kind of a mixer sound butbutbutt.. something like that as if something is hitting the engine after every second. I know about the controlling of High gears at low RPM you are talking about i used to do that even in my Eterno. But i hardly do it in GS.

But the knocking sound is not because of i shifting to high gears at low speeds it is coming after few kms of the engine getting hot.

what about you? for the above mentioned case.....

Actually I have never Hit More than 82 And i don't find it Actually that my GS becomes silent in sound department after riding at those speeds. Since i have done just my 1service i am still sticking with riding around the eco mode limit because i like cruising. But one thing is there when the engine is Hot I feel a kind of a vibe in my Brake foot pegs above 69KMPH don't know why i am going to break the myth of Oil since i am going to pour in Semi-Synth Shell VSX i think.

When you mentioned knocking sound @ 20kmph in 4th gear i assumed its because of improper gear shifts. Now i understand what your problem really is. I too have experienced the same problem when engine gets heated. To be honest the problem disappeared with time with more Km on ODO. Its because of this issue many wanted to put semi synthetic and synthetic on our GS. Blitz's explanation was that engine parts and gears are going through expansive and compressive cycles and it makes the engine roughness and stucking of gears.

Whats your ODO reading and when did you change oil last time? You can change the oil if it has run more than 1000 km. Oil loses it viscosity pretty soon when the engine is in break-in period. Its not advised to go for semi synthetics right away, stick to mineral oil and change them early.

In higher rpm engine will get hot and oil becomes less viscous and thus engine revs more freely.
