One more milestone! While returning from office yesterday, the bike crossed 70,000 kms. It is less than 6 yrs old.

My GS150R is from the first batch (Feb 2009).
    City mileage is a consistent 52-55 km/l.
I change engine oil every 3000-4000 kms.
The vehicle has been absolutely trouble-free till now.

    • Fog Lamp: Connected fog lamps with its cable ends joined to both horns and it has got a separate switch installed near keys (as in pic). Dedicated switch provides you a liberty to utilize solely & /or combined with main headlight. Fog Light temporarily goes off when you blow horn. But this circuit assembly ensures less power consumption with both operations in single go. (As per electrician )

I could have installed High end projector lamp instead of Fog lamps but RTO people does not authorize them and they may charge you a fine for them. Fog lamps are allowed by them as its intensity is as prescribed by RTO regulations.

Main Headlight: I think electrician has connected headlight directly to main power source that has direct supply from battery itself (no more AC supply now). I raised a concern to him but as per his opinion it will not affect battery life coz he just rerouted original cables and battery will be auto-charged during vehicle operation. So far he has done good Job and no trouble I have faced till date.

One thing I forgot to mention in previous comments that the LED bulb came with complete KIT in it. So if you just purchase a LED bulb (which is nearly from 250 to 500 Rs in market) and fix it to stock circuit then I am not sure of intense and constant illumination.

Pilot Light: Blue color LED looks great . You will get those similar to size and design of stock bulbs from market. As there is a change in circuit now my pilot bulbs turns off after I switch on to main light.

I purchase above particulars from one of the moto electric shop in Pune. I thinks you should do your own research for price and specification online and outside markets.

Thanks a lot for your kind help, RaviRaj! I hope you will enjoy your bike for a lot more kilometers...

Just in case, I was able to find the wiring diagram of GS (also here on xBhp) along with other models, just in case someone actually needs this to service their bike. I am not really sure about all the colors, but I am sure my electrician will be able to help. Thanks again for your time!

        Have a great weekend!

Could you suggest any other way i could get it
Dear Raja, I am sorry to hear about your GS button! The only thing I can think of, other than trying to get the rubber outside the dealer, is to make your own from an old calculator or computer keyboard. The material is about the same, you just need to find the right piece to begin with. An electrician could help you if it is difficult to make fit in there with simple tools.

If the pilot lamps are connected to D/C ( I have done it by taking a line from the rear tail lamp power line) the LED's will work well I have used led's ranging from 20 to 200 and all are working well.

There are fake products which looks like original but won't last longer.

            Hello,

MSN1, thank you for sharing your experience with LEDs and DC on your GS. I am about to have my electrician change my Gs's pilot lamps (I am most likely getting 350 lumen canbus LEDs to go with my recently bought XENON-TYPE 35w head light.) and I would like to know more about what kind of wiring you have on your GS (parking lights) and whether the battery can handle this, and perhaps another extra 20w or not. Also, what do you mean by "led's ranging from 20 to 200?

            THANKS

            Gil

The buttons are rubber. so I think you can cut a piece of cycle tube small enough to fit in the button .The difference will be less noticeable. Use a small amount adhesives on sides to stick the rubber

                        Hi,

Its not me who has done the seating change. I am yet to replace the button. I am scouting for it with various service centrers as of now

                        Thanks

That is good modification. But as a rider, I also experience some stiffness in the seat. I

would suggest not to add cushion to the rider seat as the height of the seat will get increased and it would affect the ergonomics. I tried doing it for my unicorn and i started to get knee pain after that. I would suggest replacing the entire seat with good cushion, which is of same measurement as the stock one.

                            hi all,

Its been long time. i have been following the thread on a regular basis. My GS has done close to 63k KMS. I did a few mods to my bike. Round doom, Clip On Handlebar, FFE. Now everything is back to stock. Has anyone done any mods to the handlebar and the headlight doom? I feel the clip ons which i installed were too sporty. Will the Gixxer's handlebar suit the GS. Suggestions most Welcome!

                              Round headlights looks good.

Gixxers handle bars are much flatter (Very little curves) which will give more sportier stance then clipons.

I'm fliddling with Carb settings currently trying different turn settings and checking performance and mileage. Anybody has done this before? Can share your results?

                                Hi,

That is a very good question. Some people have tried different things and a tutorial on how to do it can be found
here. I am about to start the same quest before I go for upjetting. I will not use a mechanic to make changes to the carb this time, but I will be very methodical before modifying my current settings, making records to bring the bike to its previous settings if the AFR becomes fouled up. Once I am done with that stage, if I am not happy with the results, I will contact my mechanic to perform the upjetting of GS. I really do not need a lot more, only about 1 or 2 extra HP compared to stock on top of the rev range.

Something that worked for me was changing the spark plug to iridium and pressure cleaning the air filter; I am planning to try different settings as my GS still has trouble revving beyond 8000 rpm in higher altitudes (2300m ASL here). Some annoying missing still occurs in warmer weather. Riders at lower altitudes should never face any real performace problems with their stock bikes, though.

I am fine with the bike overall, but I will have the front suspension setup improved somehow, probably by using a thicker oil or a slightly larger amount of the recommended type, I don't know. I will wait until the bike reaches around 20,000 Km and it is at 9,000 now. I just think GS deserves a fighting chance before moving on to a different motorcycle, most likely Gixxer SF or a 250. And I have also been considering the 110 mm rear tyre offered for GS.

Ride safely and enjoy your GS!
