      which part of the stand ?? for me the bottom is rusted, its obvious because the paint wears out due to contact with ground while parking.

      other than that there is rust on my handle bar(in the small gap) and a dot of rust inside the silencer(visible only with a torch).

      Guys i've noticed many spots on the frame where the paint has may be chipped off, although there is no rust there now, it may start rusting soon, what do i do ?? will they repaint the frame or anything if i show it to them ??

          i'll do that during first service(2 weeks away).. for now i turn off the bike in 1st gear itself at signals, or hold the clutch in 1st gear if its on.

          i tried shifting to 2nd and pressing hard to come to 1st, it worked once, after that it doesnt go to 2nd gear also from neutral unless i move the bike

          • guys i rode about 8 km with the choke on
            how badly do u think my engine damaged.???
            its run only 300km till now
            at about 4 km it just stopped half way, and i had to kick some 20 times to start it,(i thought it was some idling screw prob)
            after that the idle rpm was about 3-4k for sometime when the clutch was pressed(without me accelerating at all !!!)
            so i came back home and then after that realized choke was on. luckily i didnt go to the service centre again and make a fool of myself

            i poured some 3 mugs of water and it became steam within seconds
            do you think glazing would have occured due to the heat??
            any solution to the damage which might have occured to my engine ?
            Please help, i'm so sad here.

              i too did like that for about 1 km, when i asked about this to my frds. they told it will not create any problem to engine.. its just ur bike consumed more petrol when ur choke is on.

              • guys today i went for second service. i reported the following problems..

                1. poor headlight
                2. felt vibrations on gear lever, foot rest at 3.2 rpms
                3. that engine on/off switch box
                4. poor rear brake
                5. sound from chain box
                6. variable mileage. 34, 61 & 36. from the last res. to res.
                7. got rust in the handle bar ( inside the grip right hand side)

                he noted down all the top 6 and told it will be rectified. i wonder, what they will do with that poor headlight. anyhow i will see. while take delivery.

                and for the rust.. he told. its natural to form rust in that area when ur bike is under rain.. since it is non painted. this will happen to all (brand) bikes. frds plz tell me its common to all bikes? today evening i will fight with them if it is not so.

                • Personal Views on Suzuki GS 150R

                  Hi All,

                  I am proud to Say that I own Suzuki GS150r.

                  till now i reached 1400km mark taught of writing personal reviews and expirence with the new kid on the Block.

                  My Rating 8/10

                  I hope what the problems faced will be taken care of next version.

                  the problems i faced might not be the same with other's

                  Things need to taken care by Suzuki
                  ==============================

                  1. Control Switch (on/off button) :

                  From day one i am facing this Problem, if we switch on fully, the engine will not start, the switch should be pressed 3/4th.

                  consulted the SC guys, they will replace it, but stock didnt arrived at.

                  2. Rear Break :

                  I know that bikes performance and control 100 % depends on the rider, tough i am average rider facing this issue beacuse, because i rode Pulsar 150cc old, Caliber Hodibaba, Honda Shine,

                  not satisfed with the rear breaking system,

                  3. Tick -Tick Sound after engine off

                  Tough we start and stop engine for 1 minute, i am hearing a tick tick sound very badly, since it is a engine cooling system technology i can understand it,, but i dont think that.. for 1 minute /1 km also it should produce that much sound.

                  4. Head Lamp electrics

                  not happy with the beam it is producing, compared the same with avialable bikes near by. bikes of 3 to 4 years old also producing much better.

                  5. Pickup is not up to the Mark.

                  friends till now i told my opnions and bad things i felt from GS 150r which can be ignored by perfect techincal Suzuki Service Centre Guys..

                  the good things and proud to say i own GS150R are:

                  1. Looks of the Bike

                  i heared some comments about the looks of bike from my friends/internet, it is bike of 200/2004. but i dont think so. the bike had gr8 looks when compared with comptetors.

                  2. Mileage

                  may be for this i am writing this..

                  The mileage completely depends on the Rider and RPM

                  when i rode the bike at 100+ km/hr : mileage 30 - 34 km
                  80+ km/hr : 42-48 km
                  60 km/hr : 53-56 km

                  at 4000 RPM --> 55 km/hr
                  6000 RPM --> 80 km/hr
                  8000 RPM --> 100 km/hr

                  please provide me yours also..

                  ================

                  these are my personal exp and opinions.

                  over all i can say Good Bike in the Market for those who look for bike that servers all the purposes.

                  =========

                  hey forgot to mention main point. you guys should help me in this

                  when i am driving bike at 100 km/hr i.e, for few seconds around 40 to 50 sec..

                  suddenly the enginge gets stopped, i need to await for 1 or 2mins to start again.. can anyone suggest me how to over come this issue..

                  thanks in advance

                  =======================

                  Max speed i reached 108 km/hr

                    arun ji,

                    i too have the same problem in my throttle side of the handbar.. i told to the SC guys today and they have assured it to be replaced...

                    Also too much rust is on the clamp and nuts holding the fork bushes (that black thing on the forks). that also needs to be rectified

                    regarding the rusting, it is specific to GS alone i think... i have never come across any bike having rust tht too within a short span of time in that place.. some nasty workmanship and engineering by suzuki..

                    i was having my victor for almost 7 years and it had completed 1.3 lakh kms .. traces of rust started coming on the chain guard only early this year...

                    if the SC guys tell you that rusting is a common problem... beware.. something fishy!!!

                    @imjoshee

                    sir.. what hap to your bike..?? you were supposed to get it today... any update.. eagerly awaiting....

                      ya i got. it.. engine oil changed. to my surprise. my head light improved alot. now i am very much happy with that. bcoz before. when i travel in the road which having light facility i couldnt feel whether my bike's headlight is on or off.. but now.. i can easily feel that. & lot of insects flying around my head light.. i am really happy with that.. and my disc got the bite like what pulsar having. and rear brake also improved alot. although it didnt stop my bike..where i want to . but it reduces the speed alot. gear shift gud. but sometimes get sound while applying 1st gear.. and.. felt some roughnees while i apply front brake (while it is in dead slow). i think some bad workmanship here by that service guys.
                      and about vibrations (3.2k rpm) just slight improvement..

                      and i dont know what to do that rusted part.. what yal planning reg. that issue?

                      • A twist in the tale guys.

                        I had gone to the service centre to check my bike. They were about to install the new parts on my bike & as soon as they opened the new tank box,I was shocked to see the tank mouth already rusted without even usig it a single day. Immediately spoke to service centre manager & informed her about this rusting part.We clicked photographs & sent them to Suzuki Delhi. Meanwhile I was just loitering around & checking out Sanjay Dutt's Hayabusa which was there for delivery.The manager was in continous talks with the Delhi guys & then after sometime I was called in & I spoke with them & they had decided to do a buy back of their bike & give me a full refund.

                        Even I agreed on that & was ready to take my money back so that I am out of this headache of reporting rusting problems every now & then.I have returned all the documents to them & they have refunded my money back.

                        I am happy & sad also with this decession.

                        Happy because I will not have to keep on writing to Suzuki about their product & now I can buy some other bike.

                        Sad because I do not own a 6 speed gearbox anymore & the public on the road will not give me that look of "Which bike is this?" , "Iski mileage kitni hai?" etc etc.Will not be getting a mileage of 55-57kmpl beacue dont know what I will be riding next.Right now I am riding my Nov 2002 Fiero which returns a mileage of 47-48kmpl.

                        Ok guys this does not mean that I will not be a part of this thread & that you cannot write to me.I will always be there to help you out guys.

                        To all the prospect buyers.

                        I would suggest all of them to buy this bike because of its smooth engine,high mileage & the best of all is the 6 speed gearbox that the bike has been euipped with.All these are my personal experience of 8800 kms on the odo when the bike was returned back to the company.

                        Since I had the first lot of the bike which was manufactured,it was bound to have some problems.I have seen the new lot & everything looks fine.Also the company will do more to solve this issue as they have lost another customer because of rusting issue.

                        I would soon be buying a new ride.Till then I will just hang around here & wil try to help out my friends owing this beautiful machine.

                        ALL THE BEST!!!!
                        WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY & SAFE RIDING.

                          • hey imojshee
                            way to go buddy. When i saw ur rust pics, i was wondering how u managed to not ask for a new bike/refund instantly. Now its extremely when the 'new' tank is already rusted. There is certainly something really wrong with the metallurgical aspects of GS or the tank OEM is having a serious flaw in manufacture...

                            The silver lining is that they gave u a full refund. Hope U hang around here dear buddy and fill us up on ur new bike plans
                            --------------------

                            What astonishes me are the previous two posts , having probs with engine ON/OFF switch and poor acceleration.
                            Frankly I dont have any of those issues, except the SC reporting of a 'rust spot' inside tank(not visible from my Rust-Free mouth). Headlight is now re-focused and its pretty good.

                            The factor by which a company (esp. engg) should be valued is not on its product fame, rather by the consistency of products quality over a period of time. A certain Suzuki GS having probs. which are entirely lacking in other GS is actually all the more worrying than all the GS having a common issue.

                            Suzuki is no stranger to quality, but its response on this specific rust issue is alarming. It seems that they are neither interested in selling/improving their products, quite similar to their japanese counterpart Mitsubishi .

                            Hopefully they shold realise their mistakes (the sales figures should give them a jolt ) and give customers, benefit of their trust.

                            Btw my GS still has no issues at 1050 kms. Gears are Vsmooth and definite, and so is the engine and performance is still as pictured. Here its 24*7 rains, still no starting probs.(no choke used), or any other mentioned issues. Cheerio

                              Hey buddy running with choke ON would consume more petrol...but also CAN damage engine .

                              My source on this, is what i have read on the user manual of Bajaj Sunny (mom's 1st scoot) 92 model. They did mention that running with the choke on, apart from initial cold start, CAN POSSIBLY cause engine overheat damage + damage to carburetor.
                              Me thinks, best U report the above incident to the SC during 1st service.

                              My dad drove his new car with parking brake ON for ~ 7 kms . He thought pick-up is low cause engine cold. Only later he found out that its On, stupid lights that just dont beep...manual stated that permanent damage to Rr brake and catalytic convertor might result. But both were working fine upon checkup

                                Hey GS buddy congrats on ur bike The tic-tic sound is inherent in all bikes having pollution control components with exhaust. You must worry only if there is NO sound

                                Btw the above engine stop prob. is extremely odd. Is the fuel supply ON/the fuel level very near reserve...AFAIK The bike engine has no tech. for malfunction cut-out, hence its likely some incoming fuel problem...Whats the SC take ?
