Tail light and number plate light are DC by stock setup. thats why its getting on without engine. and pilot lamp and headlight are AC.Originally posted by chinu_punya View Postmy gs is 2012 model.tail light and number plate light are on when i am putting the light switch on without starting the engine !!!!!!

Bearings in wheels last quiet a long , may be life of the vehicle , if you rotate it freely and observe for any sound ..hmmmm.. like, or little play along the axial its better to get it replaced , this happens if dust or water has entered the beerings ( if wheels have submerged above half). if not regreasing can do , you can get it done from local mechanic too.Originally posted by kripscorp View PostHi friends,
Today i gave my fully mod DC gsr for service in riyaz suzuki mumbai. All the mechanics surrounded the bike and looking in to ape rr and the ammeter which i have fitted in my bike. All where checking it functionality. That was very nice to see...
My bike odo is 14500. So I asked them to repack the wheel bearing. but they are not ready to do. instead, they ask me to change it for new. But i denied...
Friends, pls suggest me is it good to change or its enough to repack the grease in it ?
Also i asked them to change the oil in front fork. but they didnt do. What the heck, this riyaz suzuki not doing all these i dont know.

Ammeters are not significant in todays bikes or four wheelers, its only for vehical electricals including battery status ( full dc ,may be the reason). Bullet still has those antique thingsOriginally posted by ashwinprakas View Post@Kripscorp.
Whats the use of an ammeter in a GS??? I've seen em on Bullets, but still not sure about their significance.
using since .... nothing has changed since....surprisingly they are selling quiet in nos better than GS for no reason

Well explainedOriginally posted by kripscorp View PostIt is of no use as such in stock electric setup. And many dont know what an ammeter does and that might be one reason, ammeters are not fitted in new age bikes.
The reason why I have fitted ammeter in gsr is to monitor the entire electric and charging system of the vehicle. I have converted my gsr to full DC. planning to upgrade to HID, 2 fog lamps and also roots windtone horn. All these mod consume much electric power. All these electric usage can be monitored in real time using an ammeter. Above all, it will show the battery charge status.
While starting the vehicle using self starter, the ammeter needle deflects 2 amps towards the -ve side. And after engine is started, the needle deflects to +ve side of about 3 amps. This means, battery is charging as it accepts 3 amps of current. Within 3 mins of ride. the needle slowly comes towards 1 amp which means, battery is fully charged. This enures me RR works fine, battery is also fully charged.
Moreover, its a fun for me to see the needle dangling towards +ve and -ve directions in idle rpm.
,analog dial looks great , good work , better if we have digital display available in market which shows battery status ,like mobile phones .

Also try Simran suzuki , panvel if you can come down to panvel and spend half day atleast, come in the morning 9-9:20 am , they take good care and accepts inputs form you.Originally posted by Taurean View Postyesterday i was also there for servicing...my bad luck i didn't noticed. And yes i also observed from last two servicing that they are not properly servicing the bikes, will try the Thane service centre

I tried to build a circuit for monitoring the battery status. But after considering analog ammeters, i found ammeters are good choice. As, real time electrical usage cannot be monitored in battery status circuit.Originally posted by Vikshe View PostWell explained

I think, the horn u have mentioned will sound more or less like the stock horn. try windtone horn. it will give a pleasant sound. I'm planning to use roots windtone.Originally posted by getvmurali View PostThe bike is smooth and mileage is fine (~50 KMPL). But still the gear shift is hard. Any suggestion to improve this?
Also I am planning to upgrade the horn. Is Roots Vibersonic a better fit for GS150R. Please help
regarding gear shift, i think your carburetor is not tuned properly, as it gives only 50kmpl. My gs gives 60+ kmpl. it may sound weird when we talk about carburetor with gear shift. but there is some relation between them. if carburetor is not tuned properly, engine wont run smooth. this may indirectly affect gear shift. What you can do is, slightly tune the carburetor fuel screw, as mentioned below.
- fuel screw is located in the left side of the engine on the carburetor. (in the gear leaver side)
- it is made up of brass.
- with the help of screw driver, turn that screw 2 mm clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.
- go for a ride.
- if u feel the engine became worse, then tune the above mentioned screw in opposite direction to what you have turned before. Now you have to turn 4 mm in this direction to compensate the earlier 2 mm turn.
- if u feel the engine became better, then tune in the same direction of another 2 mm and feel the engine sound. also go for a ride.
- please note, this screw is very sensitive. even a small 2mm turn will show u a good difference in engine run.
- Also take the reading of mileage with the new tune setting.
finally, all these work needs a good level of concentration towards the bike.
All the best!

Murali, considering your bike has completed run-in as per kms ,the mileage is fine and see it's not an accurate one ,it's just a approximate value only.. For correct figures you can try bottle method with help of SC..Originally posted by getvmurali View PostThe bike is smooth and mileage is fine (~50 KMPL). But still the gear shift is hard. Gears will get smoothen once you start use them (means lot)., See in my bike it got to smoothen after 2nd service and for some it's even after their 1st service and some still complaints it didnt happen not even after many miles ..
From my experience on highways, I assure you our stock horn is one of the loudest and clear sound which fulfils the purpose of a horn. Windtones are good for fancy things and it'll be noticebale only at Cities, not suitable for highways at good speeds..Originally posted by kripscorp View PostI think, the horn u have mentioned will sound more or less like the stock horn. try windtone horn. it will give a pleasant sound. Kripscorp, since his bike has just completed 1st service , it's not a good thing to compare his mileage now and adjust the carb setting too early.,regarding gear shift, i think your carburetor is not tuned properly, as it gives only 50kmpl. Let him munch some miles and let the gear shifts and all settle first., My request is ,please dont suggest this opinion to new bikes,,
@MURALI :: Seriously, dont take it seriously and adjust the carb setting.,Last edited by gmagesh14; 04-09-2012, 12:37 PM.
