Guess what, I too have somewhat similar results when i tried this yesterdayOriginally posted by 2strokerama View PostIve tried something like that and some other indicator tests. Mine is partially behaving like that......i.e clutch does nothing until I almost fully release the lever, whereupon the rpms drop slowly and the engine stops.
I remember when the bike used to behave like a lusty horse if I held in the clutch even a bit while standing still. Now the horse is suffering from er3ctil3 dysfunction.
2 times the bike stalled
but couple of times it went weak and then died..So i guess this test doesn't actually indicates anything as it depends on the throttle one applies.
So will try the standard "SVC approach" method to know more about this.
Even I have the feeling that my clutch has very little play. Somewhere close to the last quarter of the clutch play is when the action(acceleration) begins..So need to check that..Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostI also feel that I have to give a some more throttle than before to get the biek upto a particular rpm.
All seems to be signs of a bad clutch. And the worst thing is: I use the clutch only minimally, yet all this seemingly premature wear.
No I don't redline while accelerating but was shifting gears at 5-6k rpm thats it ..But yeah I am quite happy with it considering the roads i travelOriginally posted by 2strokerama View PostLucky man that you get as much mileage riding like that. Im in the mid to bottom 30s if i start ripping.

No, I didnt ground the other end of the coil. But it works. I taped the other end of the coil.Originally posted by gmagesh14 View PostReplaced it with stock RR then what about the coil ? did u grounded one end of the coil?

only one end of the coil output works with stock rr. If i connect the other end, it didnt works.
Between where I have to check the continuity ?
From stock RR, I'm getting 8amps of charging current. I have 14 amps ammeter fitted in my bike and needle deflets to more than half of the +ve side @ 4000 rpm.Last edited by kripscorp; 04-03-2012, 01:44 PM.

Congrats Harish..I think you are that same guy who had booked an RE before..Originally posted by rharish90 View PostJust a small update on the forum and a big update for self
. I have booked the GS today after a lot of confusions, posts and reading through forums. One test ride changed it all! Made full cash payment and got a free one year insurance. The OTR price came to a little less than 75K at Apple Auto, BTM. They have promised delivery on Wednesday evening. Excited!
Nice choice you have made finally...
Congrats man..waiting for you to finish your run-inOriginally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostJust went and left my bike at Joel's Workshop. Getting a Bigger bore and some heading work done. Delivery on Monday. Photos of a stripped down GS attached. Lets wait for the results!!!
All izz WELL with my bike...Every time i take her out i feel the differenceOriginally posted by 2strokerama View Postnice! whats the new bore size?
We never heard back from manu bhat...so aal iz well with his bike?
It keeps getting better and better everyday..
My odo currently shows 14k odd kms and the clutch is in great shape..No issues at all..Originally posted by 2strokerama View Post@ANyone who has run over 10000km: How is your clutch doing?
Mine seems to be slipping a lot.
+ I have to accelerate a lot in 1st gear for the clutch to actuate and get me moving. That too, the clutch comes into effect only when Ive almost let go of the lever....i.e at the top of lever action. I've doen a lot of clutch cable adjustments to no avail.
Is mine an isolated case?

This is because you are not releasing the accelerator while shifting gear. Just release the throttle grip and up/down shift.Originally posted by SparKot View Postat times when I open throttle in 1st gear for quick acceleration and try to shift up to 2nd gear, I hear a hammering sound THUDddd. what was I doing wrong?

Are you sure you are getting DC from the RR to charge the battery and AC for the headlight?
Please check everything again. Otherwise the battery will soon be dried.
The reason may be an incorrect clutch play. Get it adjusted at the SC. If the problem persists after that, check the clutch discs and spring.Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostI have to accelerate a lot in 1st gear for the clutch to actuate and get me moving. ya sure. one end of coil not connected anywhere. and i didnt solder it to stator pin (which was soldered in stock setup). i directly took it out with the copper wire (insulated).Originally posted by punarvasu View PostThis is because you are not releasing the accelerator while shifting gear. till morning, battery was dead. could not take up the self. after replacing with stock rr, its charging properly and battery charged enough for self starter with 15 mins of ride.
I didnt connect headlight with stock rr. i connected yellow white wire to ignition switch. this i have done long back to make headlight flicker free.

How many kilometers has the bike completedOriginally posted by Vikshe View PostIts not related to clutch plates wear alone............if not I suggest to check out with SC , some parts may need replacement.Originally posted by ashoka_bnglr View PostSo will try the standard "SVC approach" method to know more about this.Tried most of the spectrum of clutch cable adjustments. Thanks for all the responses. I wanted to know if GS clutches were generally weak or if mine was just an isolated case. Looks like it is.
Good to hear that its running fine man.Originally posted by manubhat View PostAll izz WELL with my bike...Every time i take her out i feel the difference

HAppens on mine too. Whenever i rev too high in 1st, I always get that thud sound while jumping neutral to 2nd, if I shift too fast. So, I make it a point to shift carefully from 1st to 2nd, even at the loss of rpms. Minimal sound then.Originally posted by SparKot View PostI've a query related to shifting gears up:
at times when I open throttle in 1st gear for quick acceleration and try to shift up to 2nd gear, I hear a hammering sound THUDddd .... Scaryyyy
I remind myself not do that again.
what was I doing wrong?
My bike has endured a lot of such thuds. Nothing wrong in the gearbox yet. This happens while downshifting from 2nd to 1st from high revs as well.

Sorry I missed the post some how.Originally posted by KIRTIMANNAN View PostTold ya in the previous post, Joel has done his work..waiting for the run in period..
TB..man why did u cancel that??
Anyway for the TB story, I booked it by September. The waiting period given to me was 4 months. But even after 7 months no body had any clue when I would get it despite escalations at all levels. Finally I got fed up with all the false promises they were giving me, so went ahead and cancelled it.2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

Wonder when Suzuki will wake up? Wishlist for GS 150 is rear disc brake option and DC Lighting. Together with these additions it will be one of the best all rounder bike in India.
