Just a small update on the forum and a big update for self
. I have booked the GS today after a lot of confusions, posts and reading through forums. One test ride changed it all! Made full cash payment and got a free one year insurance. The OTR price came to a little less than 75K at Apple Auto, BTM. They have promised delivery on Wednesday evening. Excited!

I do that only , for now
but isn't there a solution for this ? bcos this didn't used to happen a few months ago no matter how hard i accelerated .... I have feeling this has to do with the carb tuning maybe there isn't enough fuel or air going in for combustion .... Just a hunch
.... And thanks for replying
any more suggestions guys ?

Mostly under what circumstances the knocking sound comes
[i-e early morning start, while changing gears, while traveling at low speed]
Whats the mileage you are getting
whats the hot and cold idle RPM, and is it knocks off with in minutes of idle ?
Have u consulted with any of your known experienced trust-able local mechanic who is not a doctorate in screwing up the motorcycleSarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Hi.. I too face this issue..But i feel my problem is more due to the chain being loose..when did you tighten your chain..also could be that the clutch is not disengaging smoothly...i have same problem on my bike and in the next service i will tell the svc ppl to check both the things i said..Originally posted by venky7 View PostI do that only , for now

Is the wheel is rotating freely (on center stand in neutral gear if you rotate the back wheel is it rotates freely)Originally posted by venky7 View Posti just finished my service 3 days ago , i told them to tighten the chain , i don't think clutch disengaging is a problem
My mileage is around 40
Engine knocking is present while accelerating above 4k rpm
Cold rpm 1.5
Hot around 2
check the manual and open the rubber in the chain cover to check if the chain is over tight or needs to be lubricated.
we the layman always call many of the sounds coming from or around the engine area as engine sound where as it may be a sound from gearbox or chain etc...
Cold RPM (early morning cold start RPM should be) between 1100 to 1200 or 1300 max
HOT RPM should be at 1500 or 1600 Max.
Please go ahead and check with any of your known experienced trust-able local mechanic who is not a doctorate in screwing up the motorcycle
Once in a rainy season my GS behaves sluggish and bad making hell a lot of noise from chain and gear changing became noisy, when i opened the chain cover to my surprise the chain was in dry state with dust and rust, after local mechanic cleaned it and applied grease the issue is disappearedSarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Had an unfortunate crash... Got visible scratches in the sides of front dom and lights.
1. Any idea how much will it cost to get them replaced?
2. And is it possible for a compensation from insurance company??
Help me out guys

There are three types of headlight cowls with different prices for our bike but the headlight reflector set is the same.Originally posted by Sethu View PostHad an unfortunate crash... Got visible scratches in the sides of front dom and lights.

You can claim insurance for the damages if you are ready to leave the bike at the SC for a few days. Financially it is better.
Other option is replacing the headlight cowl and gets the headlight lens buffed at a workshop. Usually they charge about Rs. 100/- for it. The mechanics at the SC know these workshops.
