  • New GSpian!

    Hey Everyone!
I'm Elroy D. from Bangalore and I'm getting my GS150R tomorrow.
Feels great! I've always wanted this bike and I feel glad that after a lot of research I'm confident that I've made a good choice.

Thanks to all the folks on this thread for sharing your experience with the bike! It has indeed been of great help!

    Ride safe. Peace!

Check the oil level & brakes are ok , side panels are fitted properly, electricals functioning like horn, indicators etc... adjust the headlight beam, topup the tank, get the invoice..

After delivery, folow the procedures in MANUAL..

          • Completed first service with disappointment

Yesterday I completed my first (free) service with JAV Suzuki, Adyar, Chennai.

They charged me for the following:
            1. Engine oil & Filter
            2. Oil Flush - Iam not sure if this is required for a new engine
            3. Engine oil Additive - Again not sure if this is required.

            Totally I paid Rs 515.00

Generally the service is okay, but very much disappointed to the problem that I have reported.

            Problem no 1:
There seems to be a problem in my bike chassis or the fork set. After driving for few KMs, I feel a pain in my right shoulder and in my wrist. I tried driving the bike without my hands on the handle bar and could feel the bike skews towards right side and I have to adjust my body weight to bring back the vehicle to stability. Reported this in the service

Resolution: Fork & Handle bar set checked and serviced

Result: None ! There is absolutely no change in the way it as before the service. Highly disappointed

            Problem no 2:
Fuel tap is not working properly. The Reserve & Main is behaving inconsistently.

Resolution: Checked the knob and adjusted the ply inside

Result: Need to check. I have filled in 5Ltr of petrol today. Will have to see if the problem is sorted out.

In General: I gave the bike for service by 10:30 AM in the morning and by 2:00PM they called me back and informed me that the bike is ready. How is this possible, if they have worked on the above two issues? It again proves the point that service in India, be it for Sim card or for a BMW, would be pathetic. I hate my luck for this issue.

OT: The price of GS150R is increased. Now it is 74,400 OTR in Chennai.

DID YOUR BIKE HAVE A FALL?? I WOULD SAY THAT THE HANDLE BAR IS BENT? GET IT CHECKED..

WELL, THERE IS SET NUMBER OF BIKES THAT NEED TO BE DONE IN A GIVEN DAY. THE MECHANICS DON'T WANT TO TAKE TOO LONG ON ANY BIKE. TO CHURN OUT MORE SERVICED BIKES SHORT CUTS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS TAKE..LOVE YOUR LINE WHERE YOU COMPARED A SIM CARD TO A BMW

Replied in bold mate. If you are not happy with the service take your bike back to them and tell them to check it again.

Oops! Sorry I forgot to mention that I'm actually getting a Sept 2010 GS.
I liked the bike and I can see that it has been maintained well. Got inputs from some friends who have been riding for years. Felt like a good deal.

This is my first ever bike. I don't even have a license yet. I shouldn't have any difficulty on learning as I'm 26, 6ft tall and around 85 kgs! Yeah, I know, 26???, I've always been a late adopter.

                    Well, better late than never.

It is very well maintained. Got feedback from a couple of my friends after they took a test ride on one when we visited the showroom. The bike stood out good when compared with the showroom one.

Rode it myself today and it felt good.

He said he's selling it because he wants to buy a 200cc bike.

Its in good condition and papers are all good, if you are happy with the bikes matured ride quality then, please do not dig deeper on history of why he is selling the bike ?

Because here in India we have so many stupid (religiously or regionally valid ) reasons to sell out the vehicle (i-e hit a pig ) and that may impact your impression towards your guardian angel aka bike ...

Enjoy your ride with all safety gears
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity
