but after the service, the front disks produce a squeaking sound...the sound increases when i apply the front brakes.

Give it a pressure wash. Its cause of dirt accumulation.

also, sometimes shuts down even when the engine is running...(this happened twice till now...once when i was downshifting and the second time when i was upshifting).

Check the idle RPM, if its OK, then you're tappets are adjusted too tight.

the rear shock absorbers are also set to different settings...the left one is set to medium and the right to soft....

There's a C shaped tool, which you'll get along with you're bike, look in the toolkit. Using it adjust the shocks, but be careful they can slip and give you scars.

there is also a noise from the springs of the stand when the bike hits undulations on the road...

Clean and lube the spring. And these are supposed to happen sooner or later, so better ignore it.

I don't think the tappets were adjusted since it is a new vehicle.

@DSN- Do you make sure that there are enough revs while shifting gears?

      • facing a weird problem from the past week... when i blip the accelerator n leave it in idle the engine RPM falls below the idle RPM (approx 1000RPM) n then returns to the normal range (ie 1500RPM) this happens occasionally not every time have already checked the accelerator cable play n have tighten it again @SVC problem has reduced but still it occurs occasionally... any idea y this is happening or is my accelerator cable lube has dried from inside.... i hav not yet changed the clutch or the acc cables n the bike has done 13k on the odo since feb 11....

As RPM indicator is analog, it just the reflex action of spring that drives indicator below 1000RPM.

This shouldnt be a thing to worry...

Try to reflush the tank and carburettor...
Check if there is water went into the tank and any dust particles in the carburettor cup...

is it just the tacho indication you are worried about or do you face problems to ride because of this?

My plans are stalled now. 90% chances that I have to part with this bike soon. After (if) I let go of this one, I plan to buy a new GS in January and convert that.

                  What about you, Magesh?

This is a friend's bike. I'm just using it now because he is out of the country. His nephew requested the possession of the bike few days back. As much as I'd like to stay with, I can't decline and so, I might have to turn it in.

But the brighter aspect is that I get to ride something that I can call mine very soon

Engine RPM Drops n engine starts knocking because of low idle rpm.... its not a visual problem with the rpm meter

i have always kept my GS tank full n it has rarely hit half tankful (ie because of longer rides) hav never opened the carb till date except for draining water from the drain screw....

is it just the tacho indication you are worried about or do you face problems to ride because of this?

As i mentioned before its not a tacho prob.... engine is breathless when the idle RPM drops when i blip the throttle... this happens occassionally n not everytime... the problem i m facing is that when i m standstill at a signal n engage the first gear to move ahead the rpm drops n the engine stalls... this is bcause of rpm going below the idle rpm.... hence i hav to pickup the bike at higher revs(ie 3-4K) n its affecting my mileage

According to me something is blocking the carb... will be going to the SVC today but would like to hear from u guys as to what could have caused the prob...
