It is from the exhaust and is common and normal. Just ignore it and begin to notice if it is not heard.

Also he didn't mention anything about spark plug replacement.. But this time even I was busy(some personal commitments) so couldn't cross check manual regarding these little details.. Will be doing these things once I get some free time.

Most of the bikers are changing the oil in every 2000 or so kms though some oil companies are claiming longer life.
Buy an 8 mm T spanner and 17 mm socket spanner of good manufacturer like Taparia, Everest etc and oil filter from the service centre and change them yourself.
Changing the sparkplug is not a must but the recommended interval is 8000 kms.

Coming to the meaning of your name, I remember some one was asking so I just replied to that post, so there is the relevance and one need not be a literature student to improve his vocabulary i believe

        • Guyz, is that Mileage test Jar available for purchase at SVC ? or is it only for test purpose at SVC?

Service centers are not selling it. Try at some two wheeler accessories shops there. You can use any bottle with rubber cap for this purpose provided a piece of suitable plastic pipe is connected to it and the quantity of fuel poured is pre-measured.

              • What Petrol you are using?

                Hi Guys,
I got my beast GS 150 R and now ODO is showing 560 KMS. I have gone a short trip of Chennai to Gingeee (approx 130 KMS). I will post my pics after my 1st service on friday. And also what are the things to be noted during the 1st service?

Right now i am using BP petrol. But i want to know what would be the best BP or IP or IOP or Shell?

Why don't you guys share your thoughts?

                Thanks

                      1. Change the oil filter together with oil.
                      2. Clean the air filter.
                      3. Check and tighten all the nuts and bolts, especially engine mounting and chassis bolts.
                      4. Adjust the throttle cable play to 2.00-4.00 mm if necessary.
If the FE you get is satisfactory, DO NOT say anything like low mileage to the mechanic or the person prepares the work card.
Try to be with the bike or, at least, at the workshop while servicing.
After servicing and in every 500 or so kms, lube the chain yourself with a mixture of lithium based grease and EP90 or 140 oil of any reputed company after removing the lower half of the chain cover. Rotate the tyre in reverse direction while doing it for the safety of your fingers. Lube the other points pointed out in the manual.

Also one more thing - do i need to apply any extra coating to avoid the bike to be getting scratches? I feel GS is not that much scratch resistant??

With that amount plus a little more, you can buy a good wax and shampoo for this purpose. The only difference is that they are using buffing machine to get a good finish.

This is a copy paste of one of the comment in this link:Teflon Coating-dupont, Making Fool Or Wt? - Team-BHP it might be useful

                              "PTFE- PolyTetra-Fluoro-Ethylene

Invented by duPont. It is a soft very low friction material.

I see no real advantage in a coating/polish on vehicles. It will be water and dust repellent for some time and give the vehicle a high gloss, after that the abrasive environment will just remove it.

A much better and cheaper option is to use a good wax (preferably containing Carnuba Wax) once a month or so, after a proper wash. When the vehicle is waxed you will find the surface hydrophobic, i.e. water will form beads and not stick. The time to wax again is when the surface stops 'beading'."

                              • Looking forward for your expert suggestions

Hi guys, its been long since I logged in last time, but for sure I am enjoying my ride, the GS150R.

Guys I need your suggestion on whether or not to buy a new GS150R(I already have one).
I am about to shift to Pune for job but my bike is in Rajasthan, my dad is suggesting me to buy a new bike there but I just don't like the new looks of the bike and instead want to continue with the one I already have. I am a bit confused as what to do. Also I wasn't able to find any actual pic of the new Candy Dark Greenish Blue bike which is the only color that seems to be a bit good after having look on the rest. So guys please suggest what to do.
