I guess all of us had noticed this so its present in all GS's. (may be there in other bikes too)

About the gear shift, its mainly dependent on clutch play, chain tension and quality of engine oil used.

Since the engine oil was just changed, give it 50-100kms and see if the gears become smoother (the oil takes some time to set in).
If not then try adjusting the clutch, i think full clutch gives smoother shifts, but in b'lore riding with full clutch will be a pain

Where did you manage to touch 105 by the way ? i really want to cross 100 atleast once and see how it feels, but cant find any good roads around here.

Max i have touched is 95, and i've been riding GS for 1 year and 4 days now..
shyaaa..........1 year of riding GSR and still not crossing 100 mark.........you need to do it......it feels great when the other bikers and car give way when they see the beast coming at such speed in their direction.....

    Hi Guys,

I'll be turning 18 in a few months and my parents will be buying me a bike (budget 75k). I have read through most of this thread and GS150R seems like quite a good bike for me...
the first time when I saw the pics I was like "man it looks like a Passion Plus", then I saw it parked in the parking lot of my college and MAN it's huge! Looks are quite good in my opinion (not as good as FZ but quite good).

What I actually want in my bike is as follows (in order of priority):
    1. Decent Performance ( i think this bike fulfils that)
    2. durable and carefree with good service
    3. decent mileage (anything above 45 is fine)
    4. decent looks

I'm riding a 20yr old Kinetic Honda DX right now so practically anything I buy will be WAY better than it. I have ridden a bike before but just twice (platina & apache). I have sort of understood how the clutch and all works and how to release it but i'm not exactly used to it. So please let me know if this bike is good for me as a beginner.

    I live in Pune.
Its well suited for people above 5-9......i own one and it is my first bike....yeah it gives decent performance......
its durable and care free.......and since you live in pune seervice in no matter of concern.....
i am getitng 57kmpl(both citty and highwway combined)
    and it looks good

for fz and stuff read what Mach50 wrote

" 'but its only a matter of time'-I totally agree with you.............GSR makes the best Streetfighter if one gets a hold of its weight and torque range.Even pro-riders in my group agrees with the fact that it will fry FZ,P150,Unicorn,RTR and then eat it,and digest it and then squat and drop the remains of those somewhere, when it comes to Streetfight..........given the fact that its being ridden by the likes of them or me

No wonder,I do 80-90kmph in a sub-45kmph zones in peak traffic hours, when I feel I am getting late for my scheduled work or when I feel, someone wants to smoke my spanking Love.I feel sorry for them, when they come looking for me and finds me enjoying a chai at the roadside stop, while they are trying very hard to catch up with me on their fat tyres, light weight mean looking machines or highly vibrating machines or ultra refined monoshock machines The torque of GSR is absent on any 150cc Bike, except the FZ.But FZ is a slow motor........so its not a RX100. The manufacturer has already spent a lot of money and time tuning the motorcycle, so the point is the carb is too delicate to play around with.. leave it alone

I agree with you.....if the bike is giving decent mileage range, then its not recommended to play with setting of carb....

Its better to keep it in optimum not much towards the lean or close to very rich

some where close to factory default is Okay

If factory Default is 2.5 turns anticlockwise from the end then keep it not more than 3.25

Adi am using it at 3.25 but mine is not the 2010 new model GS

              • Well i ride around 50-60 Kmph in Greater noida expressway 90% clean road that is why i was talking about the mileage part if what i am currently getting would have been in city conditions i would not mind but riding in expressway and getting like 49KMPL is not such a sweet spot after all.

@ Maestro my running period is over for sure already crossed 5.5K mark in 2.5 months so i am doing like 70Km-100km /day

I ride 100% in city so dont get any place to cross 100.

I'll definitely try to go for a ride on a highway sometime soon and touch 100 to see how it feels...

The manufacturers might have tuned it while selling the bike, but the problem is the mechs at the SC will keep re tuning it every service and sometimes detuning it too..

Thats why we need to adjust the fuel screw everytime.

                  @adi231189:
Hey, check the fuel you are filling too..
If i fill from IOC or BPCL bunks i never get more than 46-48..
Its only shell petrol which gives me 50+ even with rash riding..

And now since petrol prices are deregulated, shell will cost more or less the same as other fuels(may be upto 1 rupee more), so its better to go for shell.

                  • @thefalcon from where i fill the Bunk is very genuine. And No Shell in Delhi.

                            • GSR Rules....!!!!

Hey friends yesterday i had gone for an outing with my friends...there were total 5 bikes and 10 guys...Bikes: GS150R,CBZ-Extreme,Apache 160RTR,FZ-S and Pulsar 150 old round headlight one...

While returning from the place we decided to have a race on the Highway as there was very less traffic..I agree that RTR had the highest acceleration amongst all the bikes...but My GSR was'nt too far from it...

0-60 mark Apache managed it at first place,GSR was second, then CBZ,FZ and finally pulsar came.

0-100 mark again Apache topped,GSR was second, then FZ-s,CBZ and pulsar.

0-110 GSR was the first one while RTR was dieing to touch 110.

BTW....The race was with a pillion and its very hard to drive at high speeds with a pillion...

Still GSR top speed was 113 , Apache 111, the other bikes did'nt manage to go beyond 108...

Everyone got surprised with GSR's performance....Before the race all said that Apache will easily win but when they saw my GSR smoked that Vibrating Apache all got shocked.....and as GSR was completely vibration free at the top speed.
