    2. If well maintained in factory settings without carburetor self tuning and ridden sanely, you can expect an FE of about 60 kml.
Its maximum power output is at 7500 rpm. At that rpm, bike reaches 103.7 kmh speed. Some had claimed to have reached 139 kmh. My maximum is 109 on speedometer.

A well maintained bike which is not used for idiotic experiments usually lasts long. Fiero is a legendary bike from Suzuki. We are expecting the same long lasting GS.

    Correct!
Thanks a lot for the reply . He is not into experimenting with the bike. He is just a regular commuter seems like the bike will go well with him.

No he is having an xcd 125 from bajaj needs a better upgrade. His helmet was a real life saver during all accidents. And the xcd is trash now so going to buy a new ride.

Yeah now whenever I go past the suzuki showroom I see a lot of GS 150's in there. I was talking about some 7 months back situation. I do weekend long trips and my first option was karizma( call it love at first sight) and I got it after 3 months booking. If my parents didn't allow me to buy karizma then I would have been a GS150 owner for sure .

That may not be correct now. It was readily available at the time of launch. Now there is a waiting period of about 20 days.

Then GS is a good option for him. GS is far ahead in case of riding comfort, fuel efficiency, long lasting of the parts, reliability etc.

I am doubtful about it. Always there was a waiting period of 3-4 weeks for GS. You may have seen SlingShots in lot.
Now it is available in about 20 days. This is because Suzuki two wheelers are now manufactured in monthly basis.

sounds like you are in touch with the ppl inside suzuki manufacturing plant..

Do you have the source where suzuki says they manufacture in monthly basic. (I-e GS150 1st month, access on 2nd month and slingshot on 3rd month)

So any sneak preview on upcoming suzuki bike(s) for the jan auto expo 2012

        • One strange and may be stupid question too to everyone::

Juct checked the wheel of my GS & my bro's 2009 model GS..
When I rotate the wheel by hand with almost same power, my bro's bike's wheel makes more than two spin and comes to halt ,whereas mine just comes to halt in one spin or just a little above one spin... That bike's wheel is very free to rotate,, mine is little tight..

Checked the chain tightness ,and in both the bike it's almost same..

Is it b'cos of any chain sprocket over tightening or it's bcos my bike has ran just little?...

          • Its due to the chain slackness and nothing else!!!!

Uhh... Just now readusted the chain and it feels a lot better now..
Opened the lower chain case today and found that chain is almost dry with very little lube sticking on to it., So going to buy a Chain Lube immediately.,

                Thanks a lot Maestro...

On many occasions we concluded noise from engine area as tappet noise,

Go to a well experienced local mechanic [getting a good local mechanic itself is a big time ......] and ask him to drive it (you take the back seat) for 2 or 5 kms and ask him what noise it is, then you decide on going to ASC or Local mechanic for fixing the issue.

first fix the noise issue and select mineral or synth accordingly.

PM PSR ji to check if this is due to synthetic oil or what, his reply may clear the clouds for you

Tappets may become loose, its not a problem,Get it corrected.Usually SVC claims that they had adjusted tappets ,they wont adjust it and will tell us that they had adjusted it,so the problem will continue. It needs tools like feeler guage, etc to adjust it correctly, moreover they should know how to use these tools. So best option will be getting it adjusted from a good local mechanic. So that you can make sure that the tappet is adjusted as he is doing it in front of you.

using castrol power 1 fully synthetic..(should i revert back to mineral oils)

No,No problem with oils.Continue using it.AFAIK oil has no relation with loose tappets.

I have the same prob from time till today in the engine.
The tick tick noise comes from engine head only when it s hot after 5 to 6kms of ride. the noise peaks at around 4k rpm.
i was first told as tappet noise but it persisted even after they adjusted 3 times till date.
i stopped worrying since pick up s normal and mileage is around 55.

i really could not come to a conclusion whether its engine over heating noise or tappet noise.

                          So plz ans this.
When does the tappet noise comes( when HOT, COLD or BOTH)

earlier for one of our member (AKFARA) got tick tick noise even while the bike is in idle later we confirmed it as tappet noise

some times even the cam chain makes tick tick noise

so better leave this to SVC let some expert diagnosed your bike

if SVC haven't fixed it go to the nearest main SVC [ that sells suzuki high end Bikes ] they have better technicians and equipment, do also write to suzuki on their complaints page.

you can consult with a good local mechanic but don't let him open and screw it up coz GS150R engine is unknown Territory for most of the local mechanic.

You can hear tappet noise at idling when the engine is COLD and when the engine warms up,the tappet noise increases with acceleration.

All new bikes have tappets,The mech should know:
                              1.The valve clearance of GS150R
                              2.How to use Feeler Gauge.

Guy what is the valve clearance of GS150R? Both exhaust and inlet ,Is it mentioned on the manual? Please check and reply.

                              • Tik Tik can never be tappet noise, suspect the timing chain.

The tapet noise is a well defined mechanical sound relating to a sewing machine. And it can be heard when the bike's idle and it increases with acceleration.
