I agree with your disgreeOriginally posted by MSN1 View PostI disagree, being it as any make / brand 85 to 90 % of the issues / repair and cost incurred are due to the negligence and the manner of the person who maintained / owned the bike.
, resale value has to do with how well a bike is maintained irrespective of brand , i always maintained my previous bikes to optimumand they performed upto the mark , and always sold directly to end customer (well known person only). But in India unlike Europe , we have tendency for keeping trust in brand image& market presence for products thats ok to certain extent.
In Mumbai Access is geting better resale value than Activa thats because of market acceptance and awarness thats its better product.

.Originally posted by sarvodaya View PostI ride between 40 & 60 KMPH. One of the reason for the mileage is that I ride the bike late night (between 11.30 PM & 2 AM) with sparse traffic. Just put the bike in 6th gear @ 65 KMPH and go. And also I always fill exactly 15 Liters and not just for 100 or 200 or 1000 at the same petrol pump and religiously check the Tyre Pressure.
Had some personal problems. Thought of selling the bike. Scouted the second hand market for nearly one month. All the second hand dealers quoted 20,000. The highest I was quoted was 25,000. As per dealers, Pulsar, Apache, Honda Activa, Hero Honda Splendor, Hero Honda Passion command very good resale value. Of Late, Yamaha FZ has also picked. The best joke - One of the dealers could not even recognize the bike. Gs 150 - what's that - never heard of the bike. This shows the level of marketing done by Suzuki. Except die hard fans like us nobody wants to buy Suzuki Products. The only selling product from Suzuki stable is the Access Scooter
Pls try to check with good mechanic , if your FE is consistant 45 KPL , retuning carb can improve the FE provided its perfectly adjusted by experienced mechanic.
If you approch second hand delears they will sure quot these figures , thats there business , ask for second hand GS price from them as though you want to purchase one ,if they are not aware of GS and its features, avoid them . there business is driven by demanding market.
As you mentioned yamaha products have picked up resale value due to acceptance.

Though i have commented on the topic before , I visited SC yesterday for some adjustments in brakes . i discussed your issue , they have suggested clutch plate wear and need to be replaced with mechanical fittings , also wanted to confirm whether you had put some additives before like Nulon or any other friction reducing treatments . if yes than you have to change plates as they have tendency to eat away friction pads faster and are not developed for wet clutch assembly.Originally posted by 2strokerama View Post@ANyone who has run over 10000km: How is your clutch doing?
Mine seems to be slipping a lot.
+ I have to accelerate a lot in 1st gear for the clutch to actuate and get me moving. That too, the clutch comes into effect only when Ive almost let go of the lever....i.e at the top of lever action. I've doen a lot of clutch cable adjustments to no avail.
Is mine an isolated case?

I need to take it to service center to repair it. My bike is on its full capacity of fuel. So I'm worried about bringing it to service center.[/QUOTE]
May be this will help, make sure the reading of the fuel meter marked in the Job Card that supervisor fills in is exact as per display(People can still cheat you, not a 100% fool proof though). i do the same when i leave my bike for servicing.

Change of Headlight
@all: As i donot like the headlight look on my GS, have planned to get a round dome for my bike(i like the simple and classic look).
Current Status: headlight dismantled.
Options of Round dome i had:
Ambition, Avenger,Samurai(tried few SVCs:no stock)
Yezdi(space issues and most of them were not from any companies like Fiem, Lumax or Minda).
Pulsar: Manfacturer: Lumar, Space issue was also resolved.
There is small tree of metal rods to hold the headlight assembly, need to work on accomadating the side clamps for round dome and to securely mount the console.
Brought the Pulsar round headlight from Lumax, rubber bush mounts to keep the vibrations least along with those side clamps(used usually on RX bikes to fit the yezdi dome).
Planning to work this weekend and will post the update.
Please provide any suggestions or ideas to complete the project.

Im quite interested to see how your project goes as I too am not a fan of the GS150R fairing. I used to like the large round headlight on the HH Ambition.....this was quite unique, and better looking than the smaller ones on the TVS-suzuki and Yezdi bikes.Originally posted by fadeawayraj View Post@all: As i donot like the headlight look on my GS, have planned to get a round dome for my bike(i like the simple and classic look).

I am not aware of any Clutch Slippage. Mine has completed 60,000 KMS. I am using Nulon from day one recommended by the dealer. Also the clutch is overhauled @ 15,000 KMS. Till date no clutch slippage. Anybody else using Nulon additive.Originally posted by Vikshe View PostThough i have commented on the topic before , I visited SC yesterday for some adjustments in brakes . i discussed your issue , they have suggested clutch plate wear and need to be replaced with mechanical fittings , also wanted to confirm whether you had put some additives before like Nulon or any other friction reducing treatments . if yes than you have to change plates as they have tendency to eat away friction pads faster and are not developed for wet clutch assembly.

Nulon i used to use in activa , as there is no wet clutch in this scooter it was okay , i belive Nulon is engine treatment ( not oil treatment)and requires process .Originally posted by sarvodaya View PostI am not aware of any Clutch Slippage. i had tried in my Boxer were in mechanics suggested to change clutch plates , which i did not.
Instead i will prefere to change oil at shorter intervals , presently @ 1000 kms. i will try bardahl if assured of originalty or cyclo ( i used it regularly on all 2 wheels we had till date) , but only after 20 K kilometers. I hope instead of all these stuff should you use synthetic oils , you will get better results, and most of members on this forum will agree.

You should take care while driving, mechanics have tendency to sip some fuel even if near empty, they will force you to pay for fuel if empty. if its fullOriginally posted by Joe85 View PostI met with an accident today.
I was coming back to home from office, and road was wet due to rain. In a turning, bike moved to a gutter which was filled with mud and it slipped when it entered to that gutter.
Fortunately, there is very less damage, both for me and my bike
. Mask have some scratches, there is a bent on handle and key got broken into 2 pieces
.

.. i suggest you to remove fuel in empty container
... full tank of GS.... bottles.. buy one container 15 -20 liters and a tube 1- 1/2 meters is enough, syphon it .

Got the bike yesterday evening. Got a tank cover, crash guard, saree guard with foot rest, handle bar grip and indicator buzzer for free. The delivery was hassle free and quick. The mechanic explained the features once again and advised to keep the tyre pressure at 25 for front and 40 for rear. However the manual says 25/35. I will stick to the manual!
Then did the usual pooja and filled up 15 liters for fuel. First time in my life I am filling up more than 10 liters of fuel
It is a very very smooth bike. The gear shifting is a bit hard between the 2nd and 3rd gears but that is OK. It will get smoothed after a bit of usage. As everyone said already, I am getting a "big" bike feel in this and I like it.
The odo now reads 50 KM and not 50.0 KM. Does this mean the normal odo does not have a decimal and will use all the 6 digits? Wow! It will not get reset upon reaching a lakh! That is my guess. How do I find out? Ride to a lakh
The Eco or Power mode or the light to show its time for a gear shift didnt come up. Any ideas why?2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold
