The first service is critical (?!) and needs to be done at correct time. In the subsequent servicing, nothing is done except washing the bike, changing oil and lubricating chain and some other points by pouring a few drops of engine oil.

But for the validity of the warranty, all the free and paid services are to be done or recorded as done at the SC at recommended interval.

The best way to maintain the bike in good condition is doing the washing, lubing, oil and filter replacement, air filter cleaning etc yourself and approach the SC for repairing works only.

An expert exorcist ready to expel this ghost is needed urgently. I am unable to do it because I am a Satanist (Hail Satan!) who worships and am in search of Lucifer.

Somebody please help to find out a priest, preferably from S.J, to do it.

If you don’t know how to do it, ask any of your experienced friends to help you. The tools needed are a 17 mm socket spanner and 8 mm box spanner.
      Hi Punarvasu,

I have done 9 services of my bike and all paid servicings are pending for warranty.
I wanted to do regular repairs like air filter, oil filter, engine oil change, chain slack adjustment and cleaning like stuff on my own. I dont know how much of Company provided tool kit will helps in this regard.
I know you and some of the other member discussed some of the tools some hundred pages before but it would be tedious task to find them for other members also. Can you create a post (like gmagnesh14 did for DC conversion) with all necessary tool kit details like name, size, make and purpose of the tool.
I think it would be highly helpful for members in this forum .

I am going to ask for the same in next service@Saboo, although it is not completely gone in my case. My seat right rubber washer becomes loose, it may be because some of the SVC guy did not put seat in propper holder. I just identified it after last service.

The svc supervisor is there in svc for some specific reason.....and he is not dumb....I mean if the problem is there no one else is better than him to spot it.....

            • I'd clearly mentioned the supervisor that I dont have any problems like drop in mileage or performance..

Lets wait for the results to come out.. Will get a clear idea..

The toolkit provided with the bike will suffice for most DIY needs. But the quality and leverage afforded by those tools are not adequate. I find that Im better off buying a set of combination spanners. I can find other uses for it also.

                @Punarvasu:
I recently had the tappets\valve clearence adjusted on crossing 10000 km.

I'd gone to the SC complaining of a ticking noise above 6k rpm and the supervisor supposed that it was loose tappets. Now that its been set, I still get some noise after 6k, but noticeably lesser than before. Also, the initial pickup has become noticeably stronger after the adjustment.

I was told that the tappets are initially set a bit loose for the engine to wear well. Also, that 10k km on the odo is the usual time when they check and set valve clearence at SCs. Also also, here the periodic service chart mentions inspection of valve clearence every service.

Now Im not implying anything at all here. Just reporting a few observations and hearsays.

BTW, we have a 100000 km run fiero in the family that has not had its head opened even once. But its never been run hard except for the first 20000 km of its life.

                • Guys, I'm going to settle with the regular petrol, as you've all mentioned in earlier posts in reply to my question, thanks for your suggestions......

Now I'm struck with a new question, which way to break-in our bike's engine, Company suggested slow process or Motoman's superfast one?

I wasn't aware about Motoman's method at first, but just came to know about it while reading earlier posts, which lead to no conclusion(atleast till as far as I'd read). Even one of my friend(who frequently does stunts on whatever bike you hand him over) has done Motoman's break-in(without knowing that its actually a method of breakin) on a Honda Unicorn, which even after two years of rugged use, runs like charm and has good performance.

So I'm getting confused about which way to break-in my upcoming bike's engine.... help me with that buddies.....

We are all just as confused as you. This is one of the great dividers in the world of motorcycles.

But you seem to be at an advantage here since this is your second GS.

Assuming that your old bike was run in the company way and that you still remember how it felt after running it in; you could try the motoman method of running in on this new bike to compare results for yourself. And maybe, inform us better as well.

If youre ready to risk engine damage, you can try motoman. If not, stick with the manual.

                    • @Gagan::

I'm just repeating the things you'll surely know already...

Follow the instructions in manual.. Just concentrate on engine heat and rpm.. Practice good clutch usage and accelerate when required and decelerate to stop... No quick accel and braking..

I guess you would've followed this on your current GS w/o knowing any motomans... Just follow it...

I could see lot of old IND SUZUKI's & CD 100's (very older models) in my city running like a charm.. As you know it all depends on how we ride and maintain our bike... Our bike is well built and if we take a litlle care ,our GS will come along all the way in our life..

                        • Have I fried the clutch plates ??? !!!

Two days ago on a night ride, I was doing around 104kmph in fourth gear, and I was so much enjoying the ride, that instead of upshifting to 5th gear, I suddenly downshifted to 3rd gear by mistake,(maybe I was thinking Shogun or Fiero then )......the speed immediately came down to 95kmph and the engine revs went very high.

I upshifted instantly and continued with the ride, but the bike sometimes lost momentum during shifting at rpms which were known to me.

But ever since that day, my bike sometimes struggles for momentum in the second gear and takes a lot of revs to get moving fast.
Even when I open the throttle, the bike splutters sometimes in second gear as it is out of fuel but increasing the revs clears it.

I am not getting what is ailing my sweet bike right now, has it got something to do with the clutch plates or the performance tuning??? , I cannot make up my mind about.

Please provide ideas regarding this !!
