    • So what happened ?

      >> Hey dear Machas Anupdas/Mach50/Maestro/Animeher/MSN1/GURU 07 (ur a real GS lover)
      >> Sorry for delay, was just on phone...This is what happened :

      >> Firstly I was not wearing any leather, simply cause cant $$$ one
      >> But my shorts was because my 15min trip to buy lunch for my roomies, turned out to be a 1hr trip because of just a phone call though I had a holiday....
      >> But then I was having the superb AGV Helmet , perfectly clear and well insulated and makes you feel secured...and then GS150R to add to it , which was dirty because once through dust centre of S India " Mogappair-Ambattur" *#@%&$ happens
      `````````````````````````````````````````````````` ``````````````
      >> After crossing tollgate, I was 6th cog cruising at ~70-90 km/h.... thinking of the Bandit and what would be the torque of that monster, then
      >> TCS guy's White RTR 180 comes, gives me a finger and sped of with the Pulsar 200 & Fazer trailing.... at this moment I am ~90 and they are speeding up to 100+
      >> Dunno why, decided to simply catch up to them.... Pressed the clutch, revved to 9K rpm downshift to 5th, accelerate and slot to 6th at 110km/h at ~8K
      >> I am running at ~25/33 psi on tyres and am not carrying the toolkit....that it by roomie's FZ Petrol is at 2 bar
      >> Wonder of wonders:
      >> There is almost no crosswind, but only a slight breeze at standstill.... Ofcourse at 130km/h its a tornado
      >> Nway my bike is within NO TIME touching 120 WITHOUT A SINGLE STRAIN/VIBE and juice to go more faster.... Rpm was around 9K...Have crossed the Fazer guy, parallel with the Pulsar 200 who was staring at my bike...he had a very loud engine/chain sound
      >> And comes the corner.... Used counter steering to extreme here.... Used truck a few 100m ahead left as the slipstream route and went to extreme left and when near it again used CS to take the right turn sharply and get ahead.... saw the red swift following my route
      >> And then surprise...my speed was around 129 km/h at ~9.5K and am just a bike length from RTR180...straight clear road up ahead
      >> It was a battle of wits and machine
      >> GS150R at 129 km/h (thats the last time I checked before crossing him)
      was like driving GS150R at 90km/h with more wind blast not a hint of instability....
      >> Shiny new RTR180 back fender was vibrating... Could feel that he was not in control of the machine as one could see it slightly wobbling on turns... I just went left to give him full track, and here he again shows me a finger
      Game Over buddy: This the funny thing about our GS.... You ease out throttle for just a moment and again throttle it...you may be at 9K+ with 125+, you will still get another small power surge
      >> I did just that, and believe me it was soooo satisfyingggg
      >> Its flat damn straight with only a truck in my track, and I overtook the RTR180 which was a metre parallel to my bike, by a bike length in under 3 secs....That bike was also on full throttle with the rider bent low on tank....and I still dunno why I gave him the salute I missed to see the speed as I had to avoid the truck...
      >> And the big mighty Bandit to prove no one messes with its cousin, just vroomed past us... He was a good 200km/h from my perspective
      >> That was the MAXimum I have driven on a motorbike apart from my 130km/h on R15 (Kerala) and 100 km/h on Busa (US)
      >> So if it was 133 as per Turbo Bikr, then my fastest speed was achieved on GSR150R . Period. Until GSX750R '06 comes ... then gotta play catchup with that bandit
      >> Seriously that should be in Kerala in 4 months (Its my eldest cousin who drives it in US) and for a month before his return, I should be the only guy who has permission to drive it.... and my Noida posting comes up gr8
      ================================================== ======
      >> After the Bandit signaled end of drag, I am a guy who would never allow any stuff I own to be tested beyond what it is capable of achieving... I slowed down, while they continued. Only after slowing down to 70 km/h and the +ve sign by Turbo Bikr did I understand what the GS150R proved.... Engineering Precision and the difference between Indian/Japanese mech. skillsets
      >> I was worried that I might have done some unknown damage to engine or gearbox....stopped at a roadside food hut, checked tyres (perfect), engine sound (normal but a bit more metallic)...everything else OK
      >> I had exceeded my destination by around 10 kms.... Went back cruising at 75 km/h, just because wanted engine to take rest ....
      >> Next day early morning at 5AM, gave a complete wash to the bike...
      Engine/Gear was butter smooth, engine sound the same silent thumping, as revy and racy as ever Touched scary 120 km/h at Anna Nagar while on lookout for dog wars, had a roadside coffee at 5.30 and by 8.30 after church, back to *#@$% Dust capital of the world
      • ^^^^ *clap clap clap* *whistle* You showed him.
        How would it fare on 0-100 run or 200m? Not as well I suppose. I wonder what difference power mode would make here.
        • Amitine: So it was you Cool story! Great to read both perspectives, the spectator's as well as the racer. However, please gift yourself some safety gear. Talent is rare, accidents are not.
          Wish you lakhs of miles on your GS!
          EDIT: What was the mode at that time? ECO/PWR/Blank?
          • That was cool buddy, I had a hunch it might be you when TurboBiker posted it.
            I never thought our GS can beat RTR180 even without stooping low.
            When riding at high speeds, I have felt it would be really helpful if the the height of the handle was a little lower(so that we can stoop lower for better aero). You have proved enough, never do this again without any safety gear.
            Happy riding bro and be more frequent here.........
            PS: Had anyone felt strain in elbow on riding extended periods..
              Looks really awesum in that Color.
              I have changed my GSR's Tyres to Michelin M45 and M62 but both are tubed. Very Good Grip and Stability. They are totally worth it. You can go for it.
                It definitely had to be the blank mode..........both ECO and PWR mode restricts top end due to high torque induction at lower revs.
                Yes,in absence of crosswinds and bad roads GS150R uses its sixth cog to fault any bike with five cogs,thats the magic,I wonder what only a wee bit of more power can do on this bike,with just a bigger carburetion unit !!!!! It will find torque even after it exceeds 110kmph then and slot it into higher bhp,killing the new ZMR in one go !!!!!!
                Without speedo errors:
                Apache RTR 180 true top speed = 124kmph
                Karizma ZMR true top speed = 127kmph
                Yzf R15 true top speed = 131 kmph
                Pulsar 220F true top speed = 134 kmph
                All the above datas are non speedo and non GPS,they are all Vbox speed data-logging figures which is machine used by OEMs to test the true top end of the vehicles on road conditions.
                Which means if we let the GS150R speedo error into consideration,if the motorcycle on stock carburetion offers 129-130kmph on speedo,it is actually doing 122kmph as its top end (only slower and if given the road) and if we let a bigger carburetion unit here it will do 125-126kmph with ease and faster too
                  Hey Bro....that's really awsome.....man....reading your post I was feeling like I was in the drag.....
                  As I said before...you have made the GSPians proud....from now on we will have that extra pride to ride the GS....
                  Yes bro the little bit of technology really makes the difference...
                  Also I feel the weight of the GS acts as a plus point in such drags....because of the weight it is more stable and gives more confidence to the rider....
                  Also I feel the weight acts as a extra push to the bike...like once the bike is in igh speed the weight of the bike acts as a momentum to the bike...its like rolling down a Heavy big metal ball and a solid plastic ball down a slope....
                  the heavy ball's momentum and weight acts in its favour and it moves faster on its own weight....
                  Well anyway thanks for the great post bro....cheers...
                  as everybody said...be sure you wear the proper safety gear next time....yes talents are rare....
                    so you have changed the tyres to Michelin....that nice to hear....
                    Well will it be better if I go for TT or TL tyres??? I am not sure and not able to decide.
                    So you have gone for M45 in the front and M62 in the rear is it?? let me know the specifications of your tyre...
                      • @ Guru
                        If you ride mostly on Tarmac, MRF Zapper will be enough. I think you are feeling less grip as you aren't fully accustomed to bike.
                        Michelin is a good option as same 18" tubed version is available. M45 is for rear and M62 for front. And Abhi presented Michelin rubber as Birthday gift to his GS.
                            Actually I had both(wrist+elbow). Everyone might have noticed that cruisers handle are bent like M and pointing downward. This position puts minimum strain. Compared to that ours is little uprightish.
                            Please comment on this......
                              I am not sure which one is better among Tubed or Tubeless. I guess both have their Pros and Cons. Even i was looking for Tubeless but it was not available in stock size. I have heard some people using the M45 as Tubeless and running fine. The Shopkeeper tried to fit the M45 as Tubeless in my Bike but it was losing Air when filled up.
                              But by Design, M45 and M62 both are Tubed Tyres and not Tubeless.
                              You can also check with Animeher. He had fitted a Milchelin Tubeless Tyre some days ago, i guess some Michelin Pilot Sporty.
                              And, as Anup said, M45 is for Rear and M62 is for the Front Tire.
                              Hey Anup, you have a very Good Memory, i must say.
                              Even i had forgotten by now that it was a 1st Birthday Gift for my GS. .
                              Thanx for reminding.
                              Even i experience pain in my Wrists and Palms especially while riding in Stop-Go-Traffic. I tried putting a Handle Grip but the Pain increased. So, took it off. Nowadays, i ride with my Biking Gloves whenever possible. That has reduced the Pain a bit but it's still there.
                              Surprisingly, i never experienced such Wrist Pain in my older Bike HH Ambition.
                              • @Anup: Actually, now that you mention it, I remember feeling some discomfort in the elbow and I had to shift to rear seat riding to stretch out my arms for a while.
                                Yeah, the downward facing handlebars support a more natural posture\position for the arms. If you happen to work on a computer for long hours, can you get a bent keyboard?
                                @Abhi: Even I didnt have much wrist pain on my max 100 but I used to get bitten by the plastic handgrips.....but I notice it happens often on the gs. Maybe because handling it is a bit tough at slow speeds.
                                I think anup is referring to long trips on the gs.
