I'm used to heavy bikes, Thunderbird 500 was even heavier and I haven't dropped it once, even when I flicked through traffic and slow turning. So I'm confident about the weight part.

The reason I ask is I have these two bikes in my mind, and I would like to know more from a person who had his eye, and probably hands on both the machines.
tnt 300 ticks all the boxes right for me: riding position, styling, sound, comfort, ability to do touring and definitely solid, but 2 most important things: reliability and servicing.
I have been going through the ownership thread of Ninja as well. Only concern I found there was , The seats are pretty hard and riding position is little aggressive. So sore bums and back, wrist aches seemed to be inevitable (please correct me if I am wrong). Apart from that the rest looks good to me.
[Questions to all thee owners of tnt300]
But there are two concerns, I have about tnt 300. (Pardon the sentence jugglery, sometimes Master Yoda gets the best out of me):
1) Reliability: I have gone through the bad experience Raghu (experimental head) had gone through when his bike stalled, because of a fuse issue. Are such issues common for any bike. (I am new to geared bikes as well). Are there any tnt300 riders who were not part of this group faced any such problems/break downs? (Apart from problems faced by Abhijit , Binil which was because of bad potholes).
The reason I am so obsessed with reliability is I want to go for long rides, sometimes to remote locations, and the last thing I would want is the bike stalling. I am based out of bangalore by the way
2) Servicing: I have not heard any servicing quality issues with Bangalore SVC, but in other cities there seem to be some quality issues. But are there any unsung, untold bad experiences in servicing benellis in bangalore(considering their immaculate track record with hyosung (Pun Intended)).
Also how frequently do we have to replace the pirelli tires on tnt300? Someone says it is 8K Kms. That is too less.
There are short coming with all Motorcycles in this category, we cannot expect the reliability of a commuter 150cc.
these machines are built as learners Bikes and are designed to give you a feel of a lager capacity motorcycle.
there are people in other countries and also in our country (thank you ride by benelli) who have covered more than 10k kms at a stretch on the bike without any issues.As I gaze upon your beauty, I think to myself, "never have I seen an angel fly so low".

Its not only about the weight playing its part whilst taking U-turns, you may have to consider the Turn radius as well. I guess TB500/CL500 has bigger turn radius than a 300/600. But I dropped my 600 once without realizing the turn radius (one stupid thing I did was using my front brakes while taking slow U-turn, thats a recipe for disaster). So, now, taking the U-turn step by step
though people look at me like a crazy fellow.

I managed to keep my right leg down once I sensed losing the balance.
So, the turning radius is less !!! Always keep an eye on it!Its better to sweat than to bleed...

The head does hit your leg and it's only for a minute or so. And that too when you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. The radiator fans kick in and it becomes normal within 2-3 minutes.Its better to sweat than to bleed...

I haven't ridden D390, so cant comment on that. But my experience with the heat dissipation from the engine is a tad high. Having driven an I-4 engine, My temp once peaked at 102 degrees C when I was caught once in the Anna University-Kotturpuram road. Damn, My right thigh was beginning to get cooked. Then I had to find a decent shade and parked the bike for good 10 mins and temp came back to 92 C. Once I started driving, it dropped back to 88C, that the min it will come up when you have been driving inside city.Originally posted by Night Fury View PostOK. So its not duke 390 bad ?

I was unfortunate to be victim of that one off incident. After that bike has been pretty smooth. Such issues can crop up in any bike. What perturbed me at that point was RSA not sticking to its commitment. More of over promising and under delivered kind of case. Post that no issues with my bike. I even completed a solo Tamil Nadu and Kerala ride on my Tornado, cutting through some of the thickest jungles where there was no BSNL network
I am close to 9000 Km on odo and so far servicing has been good. As far as tyres are concerned it's all about how you break and burn the rubber. I am not a hard core cornering guy. As per service center, tyres may last up to 15K as mentioned by Binil.
We come across many issues with 600i and 600GT through Bangalore's Benelli whatsapp group. But very minimal for 300 from what we hear.
