You can drive in same gear for some time at constant speed, but running-in the bike is all about varying the throttle, peaking the RPM(5k) in all gears, speed variation, etc. Also important is to break-in the brake pads as well. The brake bite improves after few 100 kms of running.

I apply my brakes at 70-30 ratio for Front-Back. I pump the back brake lever rather than stamping on it, it releases and applies the brakes alternatively so that we dont skid, since the bike doesnt come with ABS, so its up to us totally to control the braking.

    Awesome.. Sounds good buddy.

When shall we do this ? Ambur sounds good. But let me confirm with a few folks in B'lore who wanted to meet as well.

Ill keep you updated in 2 days.

BTW are we doing this, this weekend ?

Regarding the brakes I do the same. At first there was no life in my front brake, but as I started applying it 80% and feather touching the back brakes, it is much much better now.

Gonna touch 500 kms in a week's time haha!!!

"but running-in the bike is all about varying the throttle, peaking the RPM(5k) in all gears" -
Do you mean touching 5k RPM before changing every gear ?

No No, not every time. You can do that occasionally. Its just for the engine to wear and tear in a controlled manner, rather than ripping from day1.

                Wow that sounds great.

When my ODO was 77 kms there was no petrol left in the tank when I shook it vigorously. I put speed petrol for 500 Rupees which filled my tank with 7.8 litres.

And when the ODO was showing 287 ( which is 210 kms ) it started to blink with the 'E' symbol. The tank still had petrol left. I filled petrol for another 500 when the ODO was showing 323 kms.

Do let us know when you drop in!

Also, I checked the DIY thread. I am scared to open the mud guard assembly. What if I am not able to fix it back ?
