Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Well that is a good news but is there any news on when they are going to release the bike? I.e., the 400cc version??Originally posted by Benelli love View PostI just heard the news that the TNT 300 is gonna get replaced by a 400cc engine. So it's kinda better to wait till the second half so that we could get confirmation about the new 400... It is a parallel twin though except the engine has changed!! I totally agree with you that it's a beauty I mean I fell in love with it when I visited the showroom...
Benelli love and sman999... What are your current rides? And what are your reasons for choosing the benelli ??
just curious
Also where do you guys stay??Last edited by paradoxr9019; 01-10-2016, 06:26 PM.

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Went through the article at motorbeam.. Already interested with the 400cc version but if the pricing is very high then there is no point, I will go for the er6n..
But adventure bike themed one is too hot man.. Seriously... Drooling already..

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Well on with my queries..Originally posted by paradoxr9019 View PostHi Guys,
I hope you are all doing well. I need some info about the Benelli tnt 300 as I was originally planning to upgrade from the R15 but ended up with the Duke 200 due to personal reasons.
at first I thought the duke would handle highway rides with ease and of course she does ride well at highways (90 kmph ish) but I wanted a bike capable of cruising somewhere in the 110 ~ 120 kmph territory.
I am based at Chennai and I do long rides once or twice in a month and if time permits, short rides in and around Chennai during my weekends on the D200.
- Is the TNT a good bike for stop and go traffic or will it get heated like the Duke? - No lie, it does get heated in bumper to bumper traffic but the heat dissipation is almost instant. I wouldn't recommend driving the 300 in traffic as it will strain the engine. Living in Chennai, I choose my timing wise to avoid traffic.
- What is the average fuel economy you are all getting on the Benelli TNT 300 and what is the tank capacity and range? - First 1k kms I got 34 kmpl. Recent calculation over the weekend gave me 28 kmpl. Depends on the driving style, weather condition, petrol used, traffic.
- Does the bike feel relaxed and composed when cruising upward of 110 kmph? also what about wind blasts/cross winds and stability? - The engine is butter smooth to cruise over 110 kmph. After 5 rpm the beast gets unleashed. You can aaramse cruise at 110-120 all day. The bike being naked, you will have to handle windblast by installing a windshield. The bike weighs ~200 kgs and it handles cross winds to a great extent.
the duke does 100 at 7.5k RPM which makes me feel like the bike is restless and stressed. - As I stated earlier, life comes after 5 rpm in the TNT 300.
- How is the service network of DSK benelli? any new branches opened at Chennai?? - The service center guys do a good job. I have clocked 1.6k kms in 1 month and 10 days. No new branches opened yet.
- Spare part availability and cost compared to other brands? - As the parts are imported from China to Pune, then Pune to Chennai, the spare parts do take time to arrive. We have to be patient if anything goes wrong. Afterall it's just been over an year since Benelli has stepped into India.
- How long do consumables like the brake pads, levers and cables last? are they on par with Kawasaki? - Totally depends on how much you use them. If used properly chain/sprocket will last min 15k kms, tyre 15k-20k kms (depends on how much you use in highways and city). Clutch cable 10k-12k kms. Brake pads 10k kms if you use them regularly.
- I am fan of ER6n so I am more inclined towards the Benelli 300 as it resembles the ER
- At-last, I bought the TNT 300 as it resembled the Kwaker. I love the ER-6N and ever since it was launched i've been a sucker for it. But couldn't afford it as it crossed 6L.
- How much was charged for the Free services and the paid services? - 1st service is labour free (1.5k). It costed me Rs 3870 and paid will be an additional 1.5k + tax. It is on the higher side.
- Do they offer the MRF rev z as an option to the stock Pirelli ones? - No they have stopped the MRF due to low performance.
Well... The Duke is a fun bike to ride but on the highways I find her very restless especially @ ~100 and above speeds.
also the tank range is less...
if I ride at 100~ kmph ish its taking a toll on the FE.
So I am thinking of changing from the D200 to TNT 300(which happened to be my actual choice 6 months ago) - If you have the money to maintain the D200 and to buy and maintain the TNT 300, please go ahead. Else decide on how you would like to proceed. With regards to the FE on high speeds, the TNT 300 actually gives more FE on high speed cruising.
should I get a gel seat and continue to use the duke 200 OR Should I get the Benelli TNT 300? - Please read my comment above.
OR
should I get The ER6N (My Dream Bike)?? - As stated earlier, if you want to wait and if your dream bike is the ER-6N and not the TNT 300 and if you don't like to compromise, wait, else go with what your heart says. Get the TNT 300 and have fun with her.
Finally - If we wait for the "perfect" bike it would be uncertainty.
Feel free to ask as many questions/doubts
Best Regards
Shanky

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
I dont think there is a clarity on whether tnt 400 is going to be the replacement of tnt300 or if it is going to be a full-faired version i.e., it would replace/supersede tornado302 that was never released.
ndtv report (http://auto.ndtv.com/news/dsk-benell...s-year-1262678) seems to suggest that 400 is going to be a full faired version, and tornado 302 would never come out.
If it is going to be a replacement of tnt300 as most of the reports suggest then spare part availability etc are going to be a problem?
If not, tnt-300 seems like the way to go(atleast to me), given the wait.Last edited by Sudhir89; 01-11-2016, 01:15 PM.

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
I dont think so, cuz the TNT 400 is believed to be a bored out version of the TNT 300 engine and except for the instrument console nothing is gonna change. So except for the engine parts nothing would change much. Also benelli wont ditch the 300 as it would get a bad image for them and they would loose potential future customers.Originally posted by Sudhir89 View PostI dont think there is a clarity on whether tnt 400 is going to be the replacement of tnt300 or if it is going to be a full-faired version i.e., it would replace/supersede tornado302 that was never released.

AFAIK they have achieved a lot with TNT 300 in terms of the share in the performance bike market than with any other bike in their line up. Its their trump card and why would they **** it up?Ride Safe!

Let us hope soOriginally posted by sman999 View PostAFAIK they have achieved a lot with TNT 300 in terms of the share in the performance bike market than with any other bike in their line up. Its their trump card and why would they **** it up?
.
By reading the articles it looks like they are worried about the lineup of products..on the engine capacity and price spectrum. Engine capacity difference between tnt25 and tnt300 doesn't seem to justify the price difference for most of the customers. That said..knowledgeable customers do know that tnt25 is single pot and tnt300 is twin pot and there will be difference in terms of refinement and ride quality.
If they do not discontinue tnt300 then they will end up having 250cc, 300cc and a 400cc naked bikes. Which sounds like a difficult portfolio to maintain and doesn't seem very logical.
But reading your post gives me confidence that they will make sure that spare availability for tnt300 is not going to be a problem at all..because most of the parts will be shared anyways and yes no sane brand would ditch its trump card. I believe dsk and benelli fall into this category.
I am planning to visit the showroom once more this weekend, i will ask if they have more details on this. Otherwise we will know what the new bike is by Feb5th.

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
The head of DSK quoted saying "we might scrap the 300 CC and build a new one, may be a 400" while asked with regards to the Tornado 302 being launched in India.Originally posted by sman999 View PostI dont think so, cuz the TNT 400 is believed to be a bored out version of the TNT 300 engine and except for the instrument console nothing is gonna change. Regarding these two...Originally posted by Shashank Suresh View PostBrake pads 10k kms if you use them regularly.
No they have stopped the MRF due to low performance.
From what i've heard here in mumbai from Owners.. Rear brake pads are dying after 4-7k kms.
And MRF tyres has been stopped due to Sale being non-existent compared to Pirelli ones...
